“Interesting!” Chen Fei couldn’t help but admire Su Wan’s courage and boldness.
No wonder Su Xiangwu was able to command the loyalty of the entire Su family, except for the old patriarch. In order to win over someone as despised as him, they were actually willing to use their own daughter as a bargaining chip after realizing his potential value.
“As expected, the more ruthless a person is, the easier it is for them to rise to power,” Chen Fei sneered. “Unfortunately, you’ve underestimated me.”
“What do you mean?” Su Wan looked at Chen Fei in confusion. She didn’t think there was anything wrong with her plan.
Once she used her own reputation to frame Chen Fei, very few people would care about the truth. Most would simply accept it as reality.
By then, even if Su Ran didn’t believe it, she wouldn’t be able to protect him. He would undoubtedly be expelled from the Su family.
“I’m a man who was betrayed by a woman, blind, and labeled a useless waste. Do you really think I care about whatever filth you try to smear on me?”
“If I get kicked out of the Su family, it actually makes it easier for me to take revenge against you all—specifically against your Su family.”
“So drop this ignorant attempt at coercion. If you really want to win me over, you’d better offer something substantial. Then, perhaps, I might consider it.”
“After all, as you just said, my marriage to Su Ran is nothing but a formality. We each get what we need.”
Chen Fei spoke with an air of indifference, as if he were completely unfazed by Su Wan’s threats.
Su Wan fell into deep thought upon hearing his words. She had to admit that he had a point.
A man who had already been scorned by everyone in Huangwu City wouldn’t care about another stain on his reputation.
On the contrary, she would be the one to pay the price—sacrificing her lifelong honor while gaining little in return.
“You really don’t care about Su Ran?” Su Wan asked, beginning to believe his words, as she couldn’t find any flaw in his reasoning.
“If you have nothing else to say, you can leave,” Chen Fei replied dismissively. “If Miao Yue comes by and sees all this, it’ll be too late to explain.”
“Wait!”
“Chen Fei, tell me—what do you want?”
Su Wan finally believed him.
“First, tell me what you want me to do. Only after knowing that can we discuss a fair exchange.”
“Our demand is simple—you stay out of Su family affairs. That includes your older brother as well,” Su Wan stated.
“I can’t make decisions for my brother, but I can pass on the message,” Chen Fei said with a smirk. “My request isn’t much—one third-grade elixir, or an equivalent treasure of similar value.”
“You’re a cripple who can’t cultivate. What do you need an elixir for?” Su Wan had expected him to ask for property, spirit stones, or even a wife.
“That’s not your concern. Our agreement begins the moment you deliver the elixir.”
“A third-grade elixir is too valuable. I can’t make that decision myself,” Su Wan admitted. She hadn’t expected him to ask for cultivation resources at all.
“Then give me an answer by this time tomorrow,” Chen Fei said impatiently, watching as Su Wan finally adjusted her clothes properly.
After sending Su Wan away, Chen Fei chuckled to himself.
A little girl like her thinks she can outmaneuver me? I’ve lived two lifetimes and built a commercial fleet for the Qin family. How could she possibly win against me?
That said, Chen Fei had to admit—Su Wan’s appearance and figure were quite impressive, on par with Miao Yue.
—
After leaving, Su Wan was soon met by Su Teng, who eagerly asked, “Did that cripple agree?”
Glancing around to make sure no one was nearby, Su Wan replied, “Not exactly. He made an outrageous demand—he wants a third-grade elixir.”
“He must be insane!” Su Teng couldn’t believe it. “A blind cripple like him dares to ask for a third-grade elixir? Even I haven’t used such a rare elixir before!”
“If he was being so unreasonable, why didn’t you just frame him for assaulting you? All you had to do was scream, and we could have rushed in—” Su Teng glared at his sister in frustration. They had planned this in advance, so why had she changed her mind?
“Brother, do you really think a cripple would care about being falsely accused again? Even if we drive him out, so what? If we make him our enemy, it’ll only benefit that bitch Su Ran.” Su Wan explained in an aggrieved tone.
“He doesn’t care about Su Ran?” Su Teng was surprised.
“Don’t forget, he’s blind. To a blind man, any woman is the same,” Su Wan said in irritation.
The siblings, feeling frustrated, returned home.
—
Chen Fei watched them leave before tidying up his belongings, preparing to leave the Su residence.
But just as he stepped out of his courtyard, Miao Yue hurried over.
“Young Master, are you going out?” she asked.
“Just stepping out for some fresh air,” Chen Fei nodded.
“Hold on a moment—Master Liu is here. He’s waiting for you in the front hall, and the Master sent me to fetch you,” Miao Yue informed him.
Chen Fei was slightly surprised. He hadn’t expected Liu Yunyan to actually come.
The head of the Dance Bureau—though not particularly powerful—held considerable influence. Most importantly, she was rich.
When he arrived at the front hall, Chen Fei saw a beaming Liu Yunyan. She wasn’t alone—beside her stood a strong-looking expert whose aura was imposing. It was clear at a glance that he was a powerful spiritual master.
After an introduction by Su Xiangqian, Chen Fei learned that the man accompanying Liu Yunyan was her husband, Zhang Linsheng, a well-known Great Spiritual Master in Huangwu City.
Liu Yunyan was indeed showing great sincerity. She had come personally to invite Chen Fei to join the Dance Bureau and had even offered him the position of Deputy Director.
She wanted him to choreograph more modern dances, using this innovative style to establish a new genre in the Grand Qing Kingdom—and even across the entire Xuanhuang Continent.
If successful, both she and Chen Fei would become legendary figures in the history of dance, immortalized in the annals of time.
“Young Master Chen, don’t look down on the title and salary of the Deputy Director of Huangwu City’s Dance Bureau. This is just the beginning. If you join us, I will fully support your new dance styles. Our future potential is limitless,” Liu Yunyan promised, painting a vision of endless opportunities.
Before Chen Fei could respond, Su Xiangqian, who had been listening from the side, was already ecstatic.
“My dear son-in-law, Master Liu has made such a generous offer! What are you waiting for? Hurry up and thank her for recognizing your talent!” Su Xiangqian was getting anxious for him.
Such an incredible opportunity—one most people couldn’t even dream of—had landed in Chen Fei’s lap, yet he remained silent.
Liu Yunyan and Zhang Linsheng also watched him expectantly, waiting for his answer.
