“By the way, how is your training in the spells I taught you?” Su Ran suddenly asked.
“Not bad!” Chen Fei smiled slightly.
“Come, show me.” Su Ran’s face showed a hint of expectation.
Without hesitation, Chen Fei demonstrated the spells Su Ran had taught him one by one.
Fireball Technique: Using spiritual power as a guide, combined with spiritual energy, it transforms into a high-temperature fireball. Theoretically, the denser the surrounding spiritual energy, the stronger the fireball’s power.
Soul Control: The most basic ability of a spiritual spell master, using invisible spiritual power to control others’ consciousness. For weaker individuals, it is almost infallible; however, for those with equally strong spiritual power, it not only fails but could also backfire.
Soul Control also has various extended techniques, such as injecting one’s spiritual power into a special artifact, which can be activated under certain conditions. The compass that once controlled Su Mingcai had actually been infused with a spiritual spell master’s power, allowing it to exert control.
Spirit Manipulation: A more advanced spell that uses spiritual power to control objects. The stronger the spiritual power, the greater its effectiveness. It can also be combined with martial techniques, making them more flexible and unpredictable.
The last spell was the Blood Curse. When Su Ran taught this spell to Chen Fei, she repeatedly warned him not to use it unless absolutely necessary, as it greatly damages the user, requiring the burning of one’s own essence blood.
Apart from the Blood Curse, which Chen Fei refrained from casting, he demonstrated the other three spells before Su Ran. However, he did not enhance them with the Void Heaven Cauldron, choosing instead to activate them purely with spiritual power.
“Exceptional talent!” Su Ran exclaimed after witnessing his performance, giving him the highest praise.
“Chen Fei, given time, you will surely soar to great heights.”
“Whether you have a Dantian or not is no longer important. A spiritual spell master has a natural advantage over a spiritual warrior.” Su Ran spoke solemnly.
“Miss Su, does this mean that as long as I train in spiritual spell mastery, I can help you secure a firm foothold in the Su family?” Chen Fei asked.
Su Ran chuckled, slightly surprised. “I thought your first instinct after becoming a spiritual spell master would be to seek revenge on Qin Shuang. I didn’t expect you to think about helping me and the Su family first.”
“The grudge with the Qin family is in the past. You, Miss Su, are in the present. People must learn to cherish the present rather than live in the past forever.” Chen Fei smiled lightly.
“Easier said than done. The past is filled with emotions; how can one simply let go?”
“Can you let go of what the Qin family did to you?”
“Can you let go of the pain Qin Shuang caused you?” Su Ran shook her head, lost in thought.
“If I must choose one, I will let go of the past and cherish the present.” Chen Fei spoke with unwavering certainty. “Only when a person can both take up and put down burdens can their heart truly become strong and invincible.”
“Take up and put down?” Su Ran fell into contemplation.
“Take up and put down—only then can one’s heart be strong and invulnerable.” A sudden realization dawned upon Su Ran. Her eyes lit up, and she couldn’t help but give Chen Fei an excited hug.
“Chen Fei, no wonder Qin Shuang was so obsessed with you. You are indeed unique.” Su Ran laughed playfully.
Feeling the soft warmth of her body, Chen Fei was about to embrace her fully when she unexpectedly pulled away. Her fleeting yet tantalizing movement left his heart racing.
“She only wanted my Three-Pupil Spirit Eye,” Chen Fei shook his head helplessly.
“That’s not the same!” Su Ran disagreed, speaking from a woman’s perspective. “If she only wanted your Three-Pupil Spirit Eye, she had many other means to obtain it. Why would she insist on being in a relationship with you and even carrying your child?”
“So, I am certain—she must have loved you.” Su Ran declared confidently.
Chen Fei was stunned. He had never considered this before.
But no matter what, Qin Shuang had ultimately betrayed him, dug out his eyes, and destroyed his Dantian.
That night, for the first time, Su Ran did not retreat to her secret training chamber. Instead, she stayed with Chen Fei, sitting beside him on the bed. The two of them opened their hearts and talked until late into the night.
Eventually, exhaustion overtook Su Ran, and she fell asleep leaning against Chen Fei’s chest.
Holding Su Ran in his arms, Chen Fei gazed at her stunning face. Even though he knew she was not simple and carried many secrets, he couldn’t resist the temptation. He gently kissed her forehead.
That kiss felt like a spell, quickening Chen Fei’s heartbeat. His mind conjured images of Su Ran’s enchanting figure, and instinctively, he wanted to go further.
However, just as he was about to act, an icy, bone-chilling aura washed over him, instantly quelling his heated thoughts.
Su Ran had not fully fallen asleep, or perhaps, his kiss had already awakened her.
That cold aura was her silent warning to Chen Fei, forbidding him from taking another step.
Even so, Chen Fei felt content. They lived under the same roof, sharing nights together. Sooner or later, what was meant to happen would happen.
He calmed his mind, forced himself to remain composed, and simply held Su Ran, accompanying her through the night.
Su Ran herself hadn’t expected to sleep so peacefully in Chen Fei’s arms.
When he kissed her forehead, she had sensed it but did not resist. Instead, she relished the moment, feeling as if an electric current had surged through her body.
Could this be the feeling of love?
It was only when Chen Fei attempted to take things further that she realized something and stopped him.
Yet, she still did not want to leave his embrace. Instead, she pretended to be asleep and continued resting in his arms.
At dawn, the rooster crowed.
Chen Fei remained seated, leaning against the bedpost, not daring to move the entire night for fear of waking Su Ran.
Even after several rounds of crowing, Su Ran did not stir. She slept soundly and deeply.
“How exhausted must she be?” Chen Fei sighed, feeling a surge of tenderness in his heart.
Only when Miao Yue knocked on the door did Su Ran finally wake up. She stretched lazily like a sleepy cat, unwilling to leave the warmth of Chen Fei’s embrace.
“Awake?” Chen Fei spoke softly.
“Did you stay up all night?” Su Ran asked in surprise.
“I just woke up too,” Chen Fei replied.
“Thank you. I had a great sleep last night.” Su Ran sat up from his embrace.
“As long as you’re willing, I can be your pillow anytime.” Chen Fei responded.
“Dream on!” Su Ran scolded playfully with a blush, quickly tidying herself up before walking over to open the door.
“Miss…” Miao Yue looked surprised at the scene before her.
“What’s the rush? Go prepare breakfast for me. I’m in a great mood today.” Su Ran’s face was radiant.
“Yes!” Miao Yue rejoiced. It had been a long time since she had seen her mistress in such high spirits.
After freshening up and finishing breakfast, Su Ran took Chen Fei out of the wedding chamber and led him to the Su family’s grand courtyard.
By then, Su Ran’s father, Su Xiangwen, her second uncle, Su Xiangwu, along with her cousins, were all waiting there.
