There was quite a crowd gathered to watch the commotion, but none of them expected such an exciting showdown in what was supposed to be a mere Dao Realm spar.
Whether it was Hu Sha or the mysterious Chen Fei, both had left the audience thoroughly shocked!
“What is he trying to do?” asked the Ziyang Saintess, who was closer to Chen Fei than most. Seeing his demeanor, she couldn’t help but frown and try to guess.
Even with all her experience, she couldn’t figure out what Chen Fei was planning.
So what exactly was Chen Fei doing?
Simple. He was merging with a rune mark!
Chen Fei’s rune power came from the Void Heaven Cauldron, and that alone made him vastly different from others. It allowed him to condense runes easily and wield them just as easily.
What mattered most was the crazy idea that had struck Chen Fei during his breakthrough cultivation just moments ago.
Since his power originated from rune marks—why not use those runes to attack?
If he said that out loud, it would scare a lot of people to death!
Rune marks, after all, were the result of painstaking cultivation and insights into the heavens. Unless it was a life-or-death moment, no one would be willing to burn their rune marks in battle.
But Chen Fei thought differently.
The Void Heaven Cauldron made rune condensation easy. As long as the rune was imprinted on the cauldron, it could be restored with enough energy! That meant what others considered a desperate move, Chen Fei could use as a regular attack!
Hu Sha’s body glowed with the strange energy of flesh-forged runes, making him look almost demonic.
Suddenly, a tiger’s roar echoed through the air, and a massive green tiger appeared behind Hu Sha.
“A Green Tiger Martial Soul? No wonder he’s so bloodthirsty!”
“How is this guy only a nominal disciple? Whose disciple is he among the Six Gates of Tianqing?”
The crowd was stunned to see Hu Sha’s martial soul.
“Chen Fei, prepare to die!” A red glint flashed in Hu Sha’s eyes as he began forcefully merging his Dao Body and Dao Embryo! Perhaps due to his martial soul, his Dao Embryo seemed weaker, but the flesh—forged by rune markings—could endure the corrosive effects of Dao Spirit Power!
With that power surging through him, Hu Sha stood just one step away from entering the Spirit Fusion Realm. If he survived this battle, he’d most likely break through!
With Dao Spirit Power flowing, the massive green tiger behind him suddenly seemed to come alive, turning its glowing eyes toward Chen Fei.
Within Chen Fei’s body, the Void Heaven Cauldron emerged.
There was no longer any point in hiding its existence. As for whether anyone could see its true ability…
Chen Fei was confident—no one could. And he was right.
As the Void Heaven Cauldron appeared in response to the green tiger’s challenge, the spectators froze.
“A… a Tool Martial Soul?”
“A defensive one at that? How’s that even possible?!”
Everyone stared wide-eyed in disbelief. Based on Chen Fei’s previous attacks, who could have guessed that his martial soul was a cauldron?
The Void Heaven Cauldron trembled once and then instantly dispersed.
The green tiger let out a deafening roar and leapt toward Chen Fei.
By now, Chen Fei had already infused his sword with rune power.
As for the “shame,” it was understandable.
Crack!
Before Chen Fei could strike, the sword cracked under the immense power—webs of fractures spread across its surface!
But Chen Fei’s eyes turned cold with determination.
Into this strike, he had poured the Fire Rune Mark.
At this point, sword techniques were meaningless. He activated a fifteen-fold power boost!
The sword in his hand shattered instantly, and its fragments shot out like bullets in all directions. What remained was a blade of pure, flowing flame!
“Fire Rune Mark?! Chen Fei, what are you doing?!” the Ziyang Saintess exclaimed in shock.
Chen Fei ignored her. With a casual flick of his wrist, the flame sword flew straight toward the green tiger.
Boom!
In that instant, it was as if day had broken!
Everyone instinctively turned away to avoid the blinding golden light.
Even Miao Yue was stunned—who would’ve thought the usually calm and mild-mannered “son-in-law” would act so ruthlessly? He had even used the Fire Rune Mark in battle! But doing so could damage his foundation and cause serious backlash!
As the brilliant light faded, Miao Yue rushed over immediately.
But at that very moment, time itself seemed to freeze.
Chen Fei was slightly dazed when suddenly a soft jade-white hand appeared out of thin air and gently pressed down on his flame sword.
“Friendly sparring shouldn’t go this far,” came the calm voice of Mu Yunsu.
Everyone immediately bowed and saluted. “Greetings, Sect Master!”
Mu Yunsu ignored the crowd. Her mind was still reeling—half amazed by Chen Fei’s fierceness and half shocked by his profound understanding of rune imprinting!
This attack was almost on par with one from the Profound Realm! The only downside was that it was a one-time move. If the rune shattered, it would undoubtedly hurt his foundation and severely impact future cultivation.
“Don’t be so reckless again,” she advised Chen Fei.
Chen Fei clasped his fists and replied, “Yes! I’ll heed your teaching!”
Though he said that, a faint smile appeared on his face. He hadn’t expected that this experimental move, born from a sudden idea, would unleash such power!
Truthfully, this technique wasn’t unheard of.
The problem was that no sect would ever teach such suicidal tactics to their disciples. At best, they would warn them—never use unless absolutely necessary.
Who would’ve thought Chen Fei would treat rune marks as killing moves? What a madman!
Mu Yunsu pinched her fingers, and the berserk rune power—just moments away from destroying the world—instantly turned into a stream of red light and returned to Chen Fei’s body.
He sensed the rune—it had dimmed a little, but with the cauldron’s infusion of spiritual energy, it quickly regained its brilliant red glow.
It works!
After calming Chen Fei, Mu Yunsu turned to Hu Sha.
Hu Sha looked like he’d been roasted alive, and there was even a faint smell of grilled meat…
“Didn’t expect… you’re even crazier than me!” Hu Sha, scorched and blackened, didn’t care about his injuries. Instead, he struggled to raise his head and flashed a wild grin at Chen Fei.
A trace of coldness flashed in Mu Yunsu’s eyes. “When we brought you into the Holy Land, there was an agreement. You know what breaking it means?”
“Ten years!” Hu Sha responded instantly.
Mu Yunsu hesitated, then nodded. “Fine.”
She then turned her gaze to Gong Pingshan. “Go to the Reflection Cliff for punishment. Also, Chen Fei has only just joined the Holy Land. Though his strength is modest, he’s the personal disciple of the Patriarch. If you want to challenge him, wait until you reach the Spirit Fusion Realm!”
With that, she looked at Chen Fei once more and waved her hand, taking Hu Sha away.
Clearly, Mu Yunsu’s last words were meant to help Chen Fei avoid future trouble. But to him, it wasn’t necessary. As long as he had enough resources, his strength would improve quickly.
He had a one-month adaptation period, but at the current rate of his cultivation… in a month, he might already be in the Spirit Fusion Realm!
