With Chen Fei by her side, Su Ran felt an inexplicable sense of security. For some reason, she was at ease, completely unbothered by the oppressive atmosphere of the secret realm.
Under her secret technique’s enhancement, their efficiency in finding precious herbs was exceptionally high. In just a short distance of less than three miles, they had already acquired a key ingredient for refining a pseudo-fourth-grade pill.
As they ventured deeper, their gains increased, but so did their encounters with other Grand Spirit Master teams. Fortunately, without conflicts of interest, they merely acknowledged each other and moved forward along their respective paths.
“It’s strange. We haven’t run into the two Grand Spirit Masters from Qinghai Academy yet,” Chen Fei remarked as he noticed the increasing number of people they encountered. Even disciples from the Tianjiao Academy of Lu Kingdom were present, yet Wei Junhao and Song Yiyun from Qinghai Academy were nowhere to be seen.
“Why are you so concerned about them?” Su Ran asked curiously.
“Those two ambushed me in Yellow Mist City before. I nearly died at their hands,” Chen Fei explained. “Later, Wei Tinghong also tried to kill me twice. If we run into them here, we definitely can’t let them leave the secret realm alive.”
Su Ran giggled, a hint of mischief in her tone. “Then you should be thanking me.”
Chen Fei looked at her in surprise. “Why?”
“I already killed them!” she revealed with a smile.
After hearing Su Ran’s explanation, Chen Fei realized those two had deserved to die. Not only had they targeted him, but they had also attempted to use Su Ran as bait to lure him into a trap.
“Wei Tinghong must die too!” he declared, his eyes filled with killing intent.
If Wei Tinghong managed to leave the secret realm alive and learned that Wei Junhao and Song Yiyun had perished here, he would surely blame Chen Fei. As Qinghai Academy was one of Zhou Kingdom’s national academies, its strength was beyond doubt. If a powerful True Spirit Master sought revenge in Yellow Mist City, it would cause serious trouble.
The only way to prevent this was to kill Wei Tinghong in the secret realm, leaving Qinghai Academy with no leads. Even if they sought revenge, they wouldn’t be able to trace it back to him.
“There’s no rush. We’ll take our time,” Su Ran said coldly, her own killing intent evident. The threats she had faced in Yellow Mist City had far surpassed Chen Fei’s.
As they spoke, the sound of intense battle erupted nearby.
Exchanging a glance, they were instantly intrigued.
Opportunities for breakthroughs in this layer of the secret realm were extremely rare. Chen Fei had only come across one so far, and this seemed to be the second. Su Ran, despite her superior perception, had also only encountered one such opportunity until now.
Without hesitation, they rushed toward the source of the battle.
Soon, they arrived at the scene, where two opposing teams were engaged in a fierce fight. The total number of combatants exceeded fourteen.
On one side was a four-person squad led by Qin Ling. On the other was a ten-person group led by members of the Ten Nations Commerce Alliance. It was clear that the additional six members had joined forces with the alliance’s disciples under some form of agreement to oppose Qin Ling’s team.
Despite being outnumbered, Qin Ling’s team held the advantage in battle. Both Qin Ling and one of the alliance’s members had already broken through here, making their fight the most crucial. Meanwhile, the three remaining Grand Spirit Masters in Qin Ling’s squad were suppressing the opposing group.
At the heart of the battlefield, a golden spiritual fruit radiated dense spiritual energy, signifying its extraordinary nature. The tree it grew on was even more remarkable—thick, sturdy, and covered in natural patterns.
“An Evergreen Tree!”
“A Golden Fruit!”
Chen Fei had studied the secret realm’s treasures in advance and immediately recognized their significance.
This wasn’t just any opportunity. The Evergreen Tree could be transplanted elsewhere, making it a foundation for a major power.
No wonder the Ten Nations Commerce Alliance refused to back down, despite Qin Ling’s presence. Even smaller factions had chosen to get involved.
“This is a major fortune, second only to spirit mines,” Su Ran said with excitement. Missing out on such an opportunity would be a great loss.
Luckily, they had arrived in time.
“Rest here, my dear. Leave this to me,” Chen Fei said before charging toward the battlefield.
Their sudden arrival naturally attracted attention from all fourteen combatants.
Neither Qin Ling’s disciples nor the members of the Ten Nations Commerce Alliance recognized them.
As soon as Chen Fei approached, several Grand Spirit Masters instinctively moved to block his path despite their ongoing battle.
“Who are you?”
“This opportunity belongs to Qin Ling! Anyone who dares interfere will be killed without mercy!” declared one of Qin Ling’s half-step True Spirit Masters, using their academy’s name as a deterrent.
“Brother, I am Song Chen, the president of the Ten Nations Commerce Alliance’s Lu Kingdom branch,” another man said, offering a different approach. “In the name of the Commerce Alliance, I invite you to join us in securing this opportunity.
“If we succeed, you will receive a Silver Medal of Honor, granting you significant discounts on resources at any of our branches.”
Chen Fei found this amusing.
Since they were from the Commerce Alliance, he had no reason to hide his identity. Doing so might create trouble for Li Qingyi later.
“I see. So we’re from the same alliance,” Chen Fei said with a smile. “My name is Chen Yang. I was fortunate enough to gain President Li Qingyi’s favor and am now the president of the Yellow Mist City branch in the Great Qing Kingdom.”
His words stunned both Qin Ling’s disciples and the Commerce Alliance members.
“Haha!” Song Chen laughed heartily. “So you’re a fellow member! Wonderful! Aside from the Golden Fruit, everything else here can be shared.”
“Chen Yang, are you really willing to make an enemy of Qin Ling?” the Qin Ling disciple who had threatened him earlier asked coldly.
“Opportunities in the secret realm belong to those who are fated,” Chen Fei replied indifferently. “Today, this Golden Fruit is fated to be mine. I hope everyone will give me some face.”
Not even his fellow Commerce Alliance members would stop him from taking the Golden Fruit. As for the Evergreen Tree, which was even more valuable, he was willing to split it among his allies.
If Su Ran’s family were powerful enough to protect the tree, he would have gifted it to them without hesitation.
