Chapter 50: The Ancient Ji Clan
After the time it takes a stick of incense to burn, the man in white appeared before a valley.
He took out a command token, channeled magic power into it, and a streak of Dao Gold shot out, illuminating the void. Divine patterns glimmered into view as a void passage slowly opened.
"Senior Brother Ji Zhe."
At this moment, the Myriad Phenomena Saint also arrived at the valley. Spotting the man in white, he immediately called out.
Ji Zhe turned around and smiled. "Junior Brother Qi, what brings you here free of duties?"
He and the Myriad Phenomena Saint were old acquaintances.
All of this traced back to Lin Qianmo.
"For the Red Dust Demon Sect, and also for my master," the Myriad Phenomena Saint replied with a laugh, his eyes clouded by memories.
Nine hundred and thirty-six years ago, the Myriad Phenences Saint had gleaned a fragment of information from a jade pendant left behind by Lin Qianmo. The clue within that pendant led to Godfall Ridge.
Back then, the Myriad Phenomena Saint felt both intense curiosity and deep fear toward Godfall Ridge.
But consumed by his tireless search for Lin Qianmo’s trail, he had no choice but to venture into Godfall Ridge.
Thus, the Myriad Phenomena Saint entered Godfall Ridge.
New to its perils, he soon faced life-threatening danger.
Just as he teetered on the brink of death, the jade pendant erupted in brilliant light. A beam of sword light swept aside all obstacles. Sensing the sword’s aura, members of the Ji clan rushed to the scene.
That was how the Myriad Phenomena Saint met Ji Zhe.
Only afterward did he learn that Lin Qianmo had once entered Godfall Ridge herself and reached the Ji clan. This very pendant had been a gift to her from the current Ji clan patriarch.
It was also why the Myriad Phenomena Saint emerged alive from Godfall Ridge.
After all, the Ji clan descended from ancient times, tracing its lineage back tens of millions of years. Within its ranks stood not just Great Emperors, but countless true immortals had arisen over the ages.
Among the myriad ancient divine clans scattered across Godfall Ridge, the ancient Ji clan reigned as a powerful force.
Though the Myriad Phenomena Saint didn’t know the specific agreement between Lin Qianmo and the Ji clan, he sensed it was favorable.
"Junior Brother Qi, you wouldn’t be here because you’ve encountered trouble, would you?" Ji Zhe’s gaze lingered on the jade pendant hanging at the Myriad Phenomena Saint’s neck.
Long ago, the Ji clan had made a vow: someday, bearing this pendant, the Myriad Phenomena Saint could call upon the Ji clan in a life-or-death crisis to fulfill a single request.
The Myriad Phenomena Saint nodded. "Indeed, matters have grown somewhat… thorny."
Slaying Lu Fengming was impossible for him and Ye Hongchen alone.
Were it not for his burning need to reach the Sea of All Realms swiftly to trace Lin Qianmo’s path, he wouldn’t have spent this monumental favor.
Nothing mattered more than Lin Qianmo.
"Come with me to see the patriarch first."
Ji Zhe walked shoulder-to-shoulder with the Myriad Phenomena Saint into the void passage. With a flick of his sleeve, the dimensional pathway gradually faded from sight.
This realm was formed from the inner world of a true immortal.
Here, the sun and moon cycled, seasons turned, indistinguishable from the world beyond.
Mountains and rivers of the Ji clan’s territory stretched majestically, vast and fertile. Since ancient times, they had flourished, growing into a sprawling lineage with hundreds of millions of descendants—a testament to its enduring vitality.
Cities rose from the earth like colossal beasts crouching upon the land.
Rivers flowed, and range upon range of peaks stacked high.
The two flew into the main city of the Ji clan. This city was vast beyond sight, filled with rows of majestic palaces, solemn and dignified.
The pair arrived at the Ji clan’s divine hall.
"Inform them. I wish to see the patriarch," Ji Zhe said to a young boy in green.
"Yes."
The boy in green’s gaze swept over the Myriad Phenomena Saint, seemingly puzzled as to why Lord Ji Zhe would bring an outsider into the Ji clan world. But he dared not ask and hurried off to announce them.
Moments later, the boy returned and led the two towards a tranquil study.
As they entered, a middle-aged man with temples turning grey, holding a scroll, looked towards them.
He smiled and said, "Daoist friend Qi, many years have passed. I trust you have been well?"
"Esteemed Patriarch, this junior pays his respects."
The Myriad Phenomena Saint dared not claim the title of "Daoist friend" in return. Though he didn’t know the exact cultivation level of the Ji clan patriarch, he knew it was certainly no lower than quasi-emperor, perhaps even that of a full Emperor.
"There is no need for such formality."
The Ji clan patriarch smiled faintly, waved the boy in green away, set down his scroll, and approached the pair.
"Please, have a seat."
The two sat down at a stone table, while Ji Zhe stood to the side.
"You’ve come this time to have me fulfil that promise?" inquired the Ji clan patriarch.
"That indeed is my purpose," the Myriad Phenomena Saint nodded. "I wish to invite Senior Brother Ji Zhe to accompany me to the Southern Wilderness, to aid me in eliminating a cultivator who has attained saint level perfection."
"Sainthood Perfection?"
Ji Zhe frowned. "Junior Brother Qi, a mere saint level perfection cultivator? And you would waste your promise for this? Has the Red Dust Demon Sect come under threat? Or are you being threatened by him?"
The Myriad Phenomena Saint shook his head.
"If neither, then why waste your promise?" Ji Zhe was perplexed.
"That relates to the second matter," the Myriad Phenomena Saint said. "I have news of my master."
Shua!
The Ji clan patriarch’s eyes sharpened instantly.
After several millennia, he still could not forget that day, when that woman in red, radiating her exceptional beauty, walked into the Ji clan.
But they had only met that once.
There had been no contact since.
"Where is she?" the Ji clan patriarch inquired.
"At Evil Dragon Island in the Sea of All Realms," answered the Myriad Phenomena Saint.
The Ji clan patriarch frowned slightly. The Sea of All Realms stretched boundlessly; only the most exceptional cultivators could enter and survive.
How did the Myriad Phenomena Saint know so clearly?
"In truth, I purchased this information from the master of Heaven’s Secret Pavilion," the Myriad Phenomena Saint admitted.
"That man displays heaven-spanning wisdom and vast divine abilities. In this instance alone, he enabled the Southern Wilderness to gain nine Saints in a single stroke."
"One of them is already dead," Ji Zhe stated solemnly.
Initially, he hadn’t fully trusted the Heavenly Corpse Daoist’s words. But hearing it spoken by the Myriad Phenomena Saint made him take it gravely into account—he could not afford to disbelieve.
"How do you know?" The Ji clan patriarch turned his gaze to Ji Zhe.
Ji Zhe proceeded to relay the events surrounding the tomb of Panwu the Great Sage to both men.
"The Heavenly Corpse Daoist is dead?" The Myriad Phenomena Saint’s expression turned complicated. "Greed indeed never leads to a good end."
"That person truly is a remarkable individual," mused the Ji clan patriarch, his gaze deep. What concerned him was not that Ye Xu had made nine Saints possible at once, but rather that Ye Xu could divine Lin Qianmo’s whereabouts.
The Ji clan patriarch knew Lin Qianmo’s origins all too well.
Even at the Ji clan’s own peak, they hadn’t dared show disrespect to her.
"Daoist friend Qi, one Saint is not worth squandering your pledge," declared the Ji clan patriarch, his voice resonant as he refused the Myriad Phenomena Saint’s request. "I understand your desire to find your master. However, the Sea of All Realms is perilous beyond measure. With your current cultivation, it’s best to wait a while longer."
"Perhaps before long, I can send others—or even enter personally. Then, I could bring you along."
"Could it be…?" The Myriad Phenomena Saint trembled violently, staring at the patriarch in disbelief.
The patriarch offered a faint smile and nodded minutely.
"My congratulations, Patriarch," offered the Myriad Phenomena Saint.
"That day approaches, though how long remains uncertain, nor is it far off," the Ji clan patriarch said with a smile. "You’ve waited thousands of years. Can you not endure a little while longer?"
"This junior takes your teaching to heart."
"I, however, find the master of Heaven’s Secret Pavilion quite intriguing."
The Ji clan patriarch instructed Ji Zhe, "Ji Zhe, take Ji Ning. Pay a visit to the Southern Wilderness. Observe and discover just what sort of figure this master of Heaven’s Secret Pavilion truly is!"
"Remember: do not act rashly."
"Patriarch, rest assured. The master of Heaven’s Secret Pavilion is affable and approachable. So long as one doesn’t push him, he won’t make things difficult," the Myriad Phenomena Saint added with a laugh.
If Ye Xu heard this, he would certainly disagree. He was not affable and approachable.
It was more accurate to say figures like the Myriad Phenomena Saint became "approachable" with his resources.
Boom!
Suddenly, a tremendous roar reverberated across the heavens and earth.
The commotion seemed to originate from Godfall Ridge.
The Ji clan patriarch’s brow tightened slightly, his eyes turning cold. "Someone actually dares to cause trouble at Godfall Ridge. Truly audacious."
"Ji Zhe! Take my enchanted sword and see what is happening."
