Chapter 31: Elder Cui
"Elder Cui, you arrived so quickly," Lady Yin shouted happily into the sky after looking up.
After a moment of surprise, Wang Yu finally saw a slender blue canoe floating calmly high in the air.
On the canoe stood a strong man with a face full of thick beard, wearing a yellow robe, and in front of him, a large dark iron hammer was slowly spinning.
"I was nearby taking care of some matters. As soon as I received the message, I came right away, which is why I arrived so fast. Where are the thieves? Have they escaped?" the man with dark brows asked angrily from above.
"Elder Cui, the thieves are the Four Evils of Lan Mountain. They got away with the loot half a day ago and fled east. By the way, I saw from a distance that they had flying tools, it looked like the standard flying boat from the Heavenly Craft Sect," Lady Yin replied respectfully.
"Hmph, so it’s those Four Evils of Lan Mountain causing trouble. No wonder they dared to attack our Treasure Pavilion magic ship."
"The east direction leads to the Kingdom of Yu, it seems they want to return to their lair at Lan Mountain. My blue light canoe is faster than low-level flying boats, but they have been gone for a while, so it’s too late to chase them. I will inform the branch in the Kingdom of Yu to issue a bounty for the Four Evils of Lan Mountain."
"… Who is that little guy? He can’t be from our Pavilion, right?"
The tall man with a thick beard said some harsh words. His gaze swept over Wang Yu below, and a cold light flickered in his eyes. A powerful force descended from the sky, surrounding Wang Yu completely.
Wang Yu suddenly felt as if a great weight was pressing down on him. After a loud cracking sound from his bones, he could no longer stand and sank down on one knee, terrified. He shouted,
"I am a passenger on the Iron Arrow Ship, not a thief."
"Elder Cui, Brother Wang is indeed just a passenger on the ship and has nothing to do with thieves," Lady Yin quickly explained upon seeing this.
"Hmph, a mere fake cultivator thinks he can escape the pursuit of the Four Evils of Lan Mountain? Whether he is related or not, I will know after I search his soul." The tall man with a thick beard saw through Wang Yu’s true abilities with a glance, but still spoke arrogantly. At the same time, the large black iron cone in front of him began to hum ominously.
Upon hearing this, Wang Yu’s face turned pale.
Search his soul? That sounds terrible!
"Elder Cui, though Brother Wang’s abilities are not high, he…" Lady Yin, feeling flustered, hesitated for a moment, planning to explain further.
But before she could finish her words, a blood-red short sword suddenly appeared behind the tall man in mid-air and silently shot forward.
Elder Cui’s upper body suddenly bent to one side at an almost impossible angle from the waist.
The blood-red short sword barely grazed his shoulder.
"Who are you?"
In the next moment, the man with the thick beard returned to normal, shouted in anger, and the black iron spike beside him shot towards the empty space behind him like lightning.
"Boom!"
"Truly worthy of a Foundation Establishment cultivator; it’s not easy to catch them off guard."
A strong wind swirled, and a green figure appeared out of nowhere with a cheerful laugh, flying back over ten yards before coming to a steady stop in mid-air; it was the girl in green, ‘Qin’er.’
She simply waved her hand, and the earlier missing blood-red short sword spun back into her grasp.
"Blood Sorceress! Very good, very good. It seems you have great courage to attack this elder while being only in the late stage of Qi Refining. I will show you what a Foundation Establishment cultivator is."
The big man with a twisted beard glared fiercely at the young girl and said word by word in a voice as cold as ice.
"Hehe, if I were just a little girl alone, I wouldn’t dare to provoke a senior like you, but we, the Four Evils of Lan Mountain, never act alone. Luoyue, you should show yourself too; it seems we’re about to have a tough fight." Qin’er said with a light laugh after blinking her big eyes.
As soon as she finished speaking, two white clouds floated down from the nearby sky, silently landing beside the girl and transforming into two figures.
One was dressed in a robe, carrying a sword on his back, and holding a tattered lantern; it was Taoist Luoyue.
The other person, however, wore a white palace dress and had a stunning face; it was the woman who had been with the girl on the magic ship earlier.
Wang Yu was left speechless, like a statue.
He had no idea that three living people were hiding nearby, and they were among the Four Evils of Lan Mountain, who scared him the most.
Lady Yin’s expression changed constantly, as she seemed lost in thought.
"Hmph, Taoist Luoyue, and Crazy Aunt. Where is Qiankunzi? Let him come out as well."
Elder Cui looked at the two new arrivals and scoffed, speaking without any sign of panic.
"What are you pretending for? You have already fallen to the Half-step Foundation Establishment level. You’re nothing but a half-step Foundation Establishment now, and you really think you are a true Foundation Establishment master? Are the three of us not enough to send you on your way?" Taoist Luoyue said, rolling his eyes and speaking rudely.
"How do you know I am a Half-step Foundation Establishment? I see now, you are here for me, there’s a traitor?" The man with the curly beard was stunned at first, but then quickly realized, and his expression turned very ugly.
"If it weren’t to lure you here, we wouldn’t bother with this. What do we care about seizing a magic ship? Now, will you hand over that thing willingly, or shall we have a fight and leave our lives behind too?" Qin’er said with a cheerful smile.
"Haha, the Four Evils of Lan Mountain are indeed arrogant. I will show you that a Half-step Foundation Establishment is still a Foundation Establishment. Shadow Guard, wait here for me. After I deal with these three little thieves, we will go together." Elder Cui laughed furiously this time. The canoe beneath him quivered slightly, and his body shone with a blue light, then like a crossbow arrow, he shot off to the side, flying several dozen feet away in an instant.
"Trying to escape? Chase them!"
Taoist Luoyue was stunned at first but quickly shouted, waving his sleeve. A talisman flew out, expanding in the wind, turning into a strong wind that swept the three of them up, chasing after the blue canoe.
The three completely ignored Wang Yu and Lady Yin below.
"Let’s go quickly!"
Almost at the same time, Wang Yu heard Lady Yin’s voice in his ear. After being surprised for a moment, he saw that Lady Yin had a mini wooden carriage in her hand. She chanted some words and tossed it onto the nearby ground.
After a swirl of black smoke, a large wooden carriage appeared, and in front of the carriage were four huge black dogs.
Lady Yin waved at the young man and hurried towards the carriage.
Wang Yu then suddenly understood and quickly followed her.
But just then, a strange howl came from the nearby woods, and a golden light shot out, crashing right onto the carriage.
"Boom!"
The carriage shattered into pieces, and the golden light flew back into the hands of a small figure that walked out of the woods, turning into a golden ring.
"Qiankunzi."
Lady Yin stopped, looking at the dwarf not far away, her face a little pale.
Wang Yu gasped in shock and tightly gripped his Iron Essence Long Sword.
"Don’t be afraid, your opponent is not me, but them," the gnome said with a slight smile.
As soon as he finished speaking.
Three more people slowly walked out behind the gnome, two men and one woman.
Wang Yu looked closely and couldn’t help but be astonished.
It was Yu Bintian and the young couple from the Huang family.
At that moment, the three of them looked pale and worn out.
But what caught Wang Yu’s attention more was that there was a foot-long Dirty Bone Fish perched on each of their shoulders, its long tail firmly wrapped around their necks.
"Don’t say I didn’t give you two chances; if you can kill all three of them, I’ll let you go."
"Listen well, the three of you. If you can kill those two, I will lift the restrictions and let you go free. If you fail, you know what will happen next." The gnome’s cruel words echoed in the air.
This made the expressions of the five change completely.
"Split up."
Lady Yin shouted softly, and dark energy swirled around her as she sank into the ground, disappearing deep underground.
Wang Yu did not hesitate; he crouched down, pressing his hands and feet against the ground, and then pushed with all his strength.
"Whoosh!"
He left four deep mud pits where he stood, and like a cannonball, he shot out. Then, like a wild beast, he continued to move his hands and feet wildly, disappearing behind the many trees after a few leaps.
"Haha, this is interesting. If you don’t chase, you really might lose them," the gnome said, not caring at all, as he let out a sharp laugh towards Yu Bintian and the others.
"Enough."
Yu Bintian sighed, turned his hand, revealing a yellow talisman, which he pressed onto himself, and surprisingly sank into the mud, chasing after Lady Yin.
The young couple of the Huang family seemed a bit taken aback and exchanged glances.
The young woman suddenly took a lotus-shaped jade hairpin from her hair and threw it low in front of her. It quickly grew large and instantly transformed into a blue lotus about ten feet wide.
The Huang couple jumped onto the lotus and flew into the air towards the direction where Wang Yu had disappeared.
In the blink of an eye, only the dwarf remained in place.
"Great, great, I can’t wait any longer. No, no, wait a little longer; if we go too early, they might not let loose and won’t really fight to the death."
The dwarf seemed very excited, his face flushed, and a few braids on his head stood up.
After waiting a little longer, he took a white flag out of his pocket, waved it, and it turned into a white cloud that shot up into the sky. After circling once, it flew away in the opposite direction of Wang Yu.
