Chapter 29: Four Evils of Lan Mountain
One of the screams sounded very familiar, like the voice of that monk.
"Who are you? Who are you?" Elder Feng’s angry voice came from the Soul Banner.
Wang Yu quickly jumped up and turned to look towards the explosion behind him.
As the waves of air settled, the Giant Dirty Bone Fish had vanished, and the gray light surrounding the ship was gone, but two figures, one tall and one short, appeared on the deck.
The tall figure wore a gray Taoist robe, had a long sword on his back, and held a tattered white lantern in one hand. He was a bearded Taoist in his thirties, looking quite sickly.
The short figure was a wrinkled dwarf with small eyes, gray braids, a black pouch at his waist, golden rings on his arms, and a malicious look on his face as he gazed at everyone.
"You two are quite clever, hiding inside the Xenomorph Dirty Bone Fish and sneaking onto this ship. And with just one move, you broke the ship’s magical protection," Elder Feng said coldly to the two of them, as cracks appeared on the main pole of the Soul Banner, clearly no longer usable.
Wang Yu quickly looked around again and saw that only a few crew members stood on the deck. Even the cultivators with various protective abilities were mostly injured and looked shocked.
The earlier explosion of the Xenomorph Dirty Bone Fish was much more powerful than expected. If he hadn’t participated in military training at school, he would have instinctively dropped to the ground when he heard the explosion, and his fate would have been no better.
At that moment, Lady Yin trembled, as if she could fall at any time. Two large black dogs lay injured at her feet, unmoving.
Yu Bintian’s face was pale, and the copper mirror in his hand seemed to have shrunk a bit, its surface dull and lifeless.
The young couple from the Huang family stood together, but the man’s shoulder was bleeding heavily, and the blue protective shield around them had nearly vanished.
The masked young man stood straight, still holding a yellow short staff in front of him, his eyes shining brightly as if he hadn’t been hurt at all.
The one in the worst condition was the monk closest to the explosion, gripping his Zen staff with arms that were bloody and mangled, revealing bits of bone, with one eye deeply pierced by a broken bone spike.
He looked at the newly appeared duo, his remaining eye seeming to breathe fire.
"Destroy my body and block my path. I will kill you."
The monk did not wait for the two priests to answer Elder Feng’s question. He roared, and two yellow glowing arms suddenly appeared. With a burst of strength, he threw the Crescent Moon Zen Cane at the two new arrivals while chanting something. Behind him, shadows flickered, and two more faint yellow arms emerged, all four arms pointed at the Crescent Moon Zen Cane.
"Boom!"
The Zen staff exploded above the two priests, showering countless deep blue liquids down. A foul smell quickly spread across the deck.
"Oh, the poisoned blood of a double-tailed wolf! This is a good thing; I cannot waste it." The dwarf chuckled at this sight. His black leather bag flew off his waist, and a large amount of white light burst forth from it, sucking in all the blue liquid. After spinning in the air, it returned safely to him.
"Late stage of Qi Refining Stage, Small Universe Bag! You are Qiankunzi from the Four Evils of Lan Mountain." Elder Feng, seeing this, narrowed his eyes and shouted the dwarf’s name.
Four Evils of Lan Mountain!
The other cultivators’ faces changed drastically upon hearing this.
The monk who had just acted froze, and his face turned pale.
Just then, the sickly-looking Taoist moved like a ghost, holding a lantern in one hand as he approached the monk. The long sword that was originally stuck at his back had somehow appeared in his other hand, and a curved moonlight suddenly shone on the blade, falling toward the monk.
"Spare my life!"
The monk was greatly shocked, and both of his arms glowed brightly as he raised them to defend himself. The two ghostly arms behind him also moved upward, creating a wave of energy.
"Whoosh!"
The crescent moon suddenly shone with a chilling brightness, magnifying many times, completely enveloping the monk.
When the cold light vanished with a flash, the monk lay in a pool of blood, his head and body separate, and his arms had been severed into four pieces beside his headless body.
The Qi Refining mid-stage cultivator could not even block a single sword strike from the sickly Taoist, and several nearby cultivators were so frightened that they retreated quickly.
"A ranked sword weapon, the Setting Moon Sword! It’s Taoist Luoyue; it really is the Four Evils of Lan Mountain!"
An old farmer-like cultivator by the side of the boat, terrified, shouted loudly. He flipped over and jumped out of the boat, trying to escape into the river.
But before the old farmer could land completely, a huge Xenomorph Dirty Bone Fish suddenly jumped out of the black mist below, swallowing him in one bite, then shaking its head and tail as it disappeared into the fog.
The crowd was shocked to find that, because the Soul Banner was broken and there was no gray barrier blocking their way, the black mist had spread around the deck, and more and more Bone Fish were rushing onto the deck. Several giant creatures could be seen faintly in the dark outside the ship, but for some unknown reason, they did not immediately attack; instead, they surrounded the entire deck.
"You should know the rules of the Four Evils of Lan Mountain; surrender and you might survive. If you resist, there will be no mercy," the gnome threatened, patting a black bag at his waist and tilting his head.
The cultivators on the deck looked exceptionally grim upon hearing this.
Wang Yu swallowed hard, and his heart started to race faster.
Although he had never heard of the ‘Four Evils of Lan Mountain’, he could tell from everyone’s reactions how terrifying these two must be.
"Hmph, everyone, do not be tempted by their words. The Four Evils of Lan Mountain are infamous for their cruelty; they have never shown mercy. Besides, there are only two of them. I still have a backup magical item to bind one, and the rest of us can attack the other. If we work together, we can capture them," Elder Feng said coolly, observing the scene.
As he spoke, he stomped his foot, and a circle of white light suddenly appeared on the wooden board beneath him, slowly revealing a small banner rising from it, only a few inches tall, with yellow symbols flashing brightly on its surface, clearly extraordinary.
Upon seeing this, Yu Bintian and the other cultivators on the lower deck felt a surge of spirit, and someone immediately began to make gestures and chant spells, ready to act as instructed, but most still showed signs of hesitation.
At the same time, Elder Feng took a deep breath and reached down to grab the mini flag beneath him.
"Poof"
A blood-red sword tip suddenly burst out from Elder Feng’s chest, and then, in the empty space behind him, a lively green figure silently appeared, with a round face and big eyes.
It was the missing girl in green, Qin’er.
She held a blood-red short sword, which was piercing through Elder Feng’s chest from her back, her face full of smiles, still looking like a strange little spirit.
Elder Feng cried out, and the smoke pipe at his waist exploded, filling the air with rolling smoke that seemed alive, wrapping around the two of them. Inside, the sounds of cracking fire and Elder Feng’s furious shouts mixed with the girl’s tinkling laughter.
This sudden turn of events left everyone staring in shock, but they were quickly snapped back to reality by the deadly words of a sickly Taoist.
"Kill them all, leave no one alive."
As soon as he finished speaking, a gnome suddenly had a white horn in his hand and began to blow it forcefully.
Woo… woo…
The Dirty Bone Fish in the black mist around suddenly stirred, then, as if angry, they rushed towards the group of repairs and the remaining ordinary crew members.
"Run!"
No one knew who shouted, but several figures soared into the sky, some shining with light, some stepping on clouds, and others, like the old farmer before, jumped directly into the water, including Yu Bintian and the young couple from the Huang family.
Wang Yu, who had quietly retreated to a corner of the deck, didn’t care about anyone else at that moment and stomped his foot hard.
"Bang!"
The deck cracked open at his feet, revealing a hole large enough for a person. He fell into it and landed directly in the cabin below the deck.
‘Woo woo.’
Several Dirty Bone Fish, about a foot long, also squeezed through the hole, but Wang Yu was prepared. With a few swift slices, he cut them into seven or eight pieces. Then, using his feet with great force, he stomped down, and with a loud crash, he fell into the next lower cabin.
When he boarded the ship, he had intentionally observed the structure of the ship. There should be at least three levels below the deck. Now that he had reached the second cabin, he did not go to the third level, but instead, he called out sharply.
"Overclock Synchronization"
His five senses suddenly opened up, and everything around him began to slow down as his mind entered a super mode.
Based on all the relevant information he had gathered earlier, he quickly calculated his exact position within the ship and looked for the best escape route…
In just two breaths, Wang Yu dashed into the corridor, sprinting toward the rear of the ship. After running a short distance, he dove into what seemed like a corner room. He locked the door behind him, turned the handle with one hand, and from his palm emerged a yellow talisman, the ‘Golden Light Talisman’ from the earlier transaction.
He followed the method described by the young man from the Huang family, channeling a small amount of magical energy into the talisman while also patting his body.
"Puff"
A faint golden light appeared around him, enveloping his entire body. On the surface of the light, spirit patterns that resembled writing flickered softly.
If it were a normal time, Wang Yu might have studied it carefully, but right now, he needed to escape and did not want to waste any time. With a flash of the cold blade, he cut a large opening in the wall outside the room.
"Gulululu"
The river overflowed and rushed directly into the room.
Wang Yu, who was well-prepared, bit down on the Iron Essence Sword, took a deep breath, held his breath, and tightly grasped the sides of the opening with both hands, keeping his body steady against the force of the rushing water.
Once the water filled the entire room and his body began to float, he kicked off the ground with both feet and swam straight out of the room, escaping outside the houseboat.
There wasn’t much black mist in the river outside the houseboat, but some Dirty Bone Fish swam back and forth there.
Wang Yu quietly surfaced, then swam vigorously toward the distant shore.
"Crack" "Crack"
Before he could swim very far, several Dirty Bone Fish surrounded him, opening their sharp mouths and gnawing at him, but he remained unharmed under the shimmering golden surface of his skin.
Wang Yu paid no attention to the Bone Fish; instead, he continued to swim fiercely, accompanied by the Bone Fish that kept nibbling at him.
With the help of the system, he entered a delicate state of controlling his body and limbs, where just a little effort could achieve the same effect as using a lot of strength to paddle. He felt as if he had merged with the river water, and even the water around him gave him a warm feeling.
The few Dirty Bone Fish that had been circling around him were thrown far behind after a blur of movement from his hands and feet.
From a distance, where he passed, the river water churned, leaving a long white line behind.
