Chapter 28: Tide of Yin Qi
As Wang Yu rushed onto the deck, the sounds of explosions and sharp cries instantly filled his ears. Looking around, he couldn’t help but gasp in surprise.
The entire ship was covered by a layer of gray light.
On the deck, many crew members, carrying iron forks and holding light crossbows, formed a circle and shot arrows with red talismans attached at the light barrier outside, which burst into fireballs upon impact.
Beyond the light barrier.
Black mist rolled and cold winds howled, with countless white Bone Fish floating all around. They had no flesh or blood, yet they moved like living creatures, making strange noises and desperately slamming their bodies against the gray light barrier.
The Bone Fish varied in size, with the larger ones measuring several feet long and the smaller ones being the size of a fist. As the fireballs fell among them, they only turned the central Bone Fish to ash, while the others rolled in the black mist but continued to crash against the light barrier as if nothing had happened.
Fortunately, the blue giant crossbow on the ship, operated by other crew members, fired thick iron arrows that could pierce through several Bone Fish, shattering them completely.
Behind many sailors stood more than ten cultivators, each dressed differently.
Yu Bintian, Lady Yin, and others were among them, and he even spotted the tall, masked young man and the girl Qin’er who lived across from him, along with several unfamiliar faces, but everyone looked worried.
"Dear friends, listen carefully, although there are many Dirty Bone Fish carried by the tide of Yin Qi, they are not too frightening. I will control the Soul Banner to create an opening, allowing everyone to take them down in groups. As long as their numbers decrease to a certain level, the Tide of Yin Qi will naturally clear."
"Ordinary Dirty Bone Fish can be dealt with by regular sailors, but if stronger beasts appear, I hope everyone can work together." Elder Feng’s voice came again from above the building ship.
Wang Yu looked up and noticed Elder Feng sitting cross-legged beneath the black Soul Banner, one hand resting on the banner pole and the other making a gesture, as thin gray mist was flowing out from the banner, continuously feeding into the gray light curtain, while the large smoking rod he always held was tucked in at his waist.
These Bone Fish are called Dirty Bone Fish, but what are those strange beasts?
Just as Wang Yu was feeling confused, a loud crash came from outside the gray light curtain, and a fish head as big as a water tank slammed hard against it.
The entire light curtain and building ship shook, and a massive black shadow, as big as a small boat, flashed outside the curtain, disappearing among the many Dirty Bone Fish.
Seeing this, Wang Yu felt a chill run down his spine.
"Brother Wang, be careful. The Xenomorph Dirty Bone Fish can be seen as a threat in the later stages of Qi Refining. If you encounter danger, you can come close to me. If I have the strength, I will protect you," an old voice came from nearby. Wang Yu looked over and saw Lady Yin approaching with a black cane.
"Thank you, Senior. I hope I won’t face such a situation," Wang Yu said with a bow, but he felt a bit confused about why the other person was being so caring towards him.
At that moment, a sharp cry rose from the group of Dirty Bone Fish outside, and a gap opened in the light barrier in front of the deck, allowing a swarm of Bone Fish to rush onto the deck.
Although they had no limbs, their bodies floated freely in the swirling dark mist, making them seem unusually agile. In the blink of an eye, they charged toward the crowd.
The crew members dropped their crossbows and rushed forward with iron forks, frantically stabbing at the nearby Bone Fish.
Each Dirty Bone Fish that was struck let out a harsh cry, its black mist dissipating, and they struggled before falling to the ground, unable to move.
Wang Yu noticed that the tips of these iron forks were also adorned with another kind of white talisman, emitting a faint white glow.
Meanwhile, the cultivators at the back were making hand signs, chanting words, or taking out weapons. They placed talismans either on their weapons or directly on themselves, and various magical lights began to appear in front of them.
Wang Yu tightened his grip on his Iron Essence Long Sword, feeling a bit awkward. He regretted not exchanging for a few more defensive talismans a few days ago. Right now, he had only one Golden Light Talisman saved for emergencies, and he didn’t know any protective spells, but he also felt he couldn’t just do nothing.
Thinking of this, he crossed the Iron Essence Sword in front of him, while his other hand made a gesture and he recited a spell.
He was lucky; after a wave of energy in the divine sense sea, the Spell Imprint surprisingly formed successfully on the first try. A red light flickered on his finger, and a tiny flame appeared, which was a Firefly.
Some Dirty Bone Fish had already rushed past the crew’s block and arrived in front of the many cultivators.
Several spells shot out from the hands of a few cultivators, including giant fireballs the size of heads, ice spikes as thick as fingers, and curved wind blades. In an instant, they overwhelmed the first twenty or so Bone Fish.
However, more Bone Fish continued to rush out of the spell’s coverage, charging directly toward the crowd.
Wang Yu flicked his finger, and a spark turned into a red light that struck precisely at a Bone Fish charging at him.
The Bone Fish exploded with a loud roar, engulfed in fierce flames, and vanished in a cloud of green smoke under the intense heat.
But then, another Bone Fish shot in from the other side, baring its sharp teeth and viciously biting.
Wang Yu stepped back half a step; with a flash of cold light, his long knife accurately sliced the Bone Fish in half.
"Patter" "Patter"
A half of a Bone Fish fell onto the deck. Although it couldn’t float, it still desperately thrashed its body, looking like it would not die for a moment.
Wang Yu witnessed this scene, feeling uneasy in his heart, but in his hands, he swiftly struck down two more Bone Fish, slicing them in half, and then took a moment to look at the others.
After the previous wave of magic attacks, no one wasted time casting more spells. Each person showed their own special skills to deal with the swarm of Bone Fish, leaving Wang Yu amazed.
Lady Yin, who was closest to him, suddenly had two large black dogs with blurred bodies by her side. All the nearby Dirty Bone Fish were swiftly knocked to the ground by these two black dogs.
Lady Yin then tapped her black staff, and the fallen Bone Fish became stiff, showing frost on their surfaces.
The old man in the purple robe, Yu Bintian, held a copper mirror in one hand. From its misty surface, yellow spheres of light occasionally shot out, knocking down the nearby Bone Fish one by one.
The thin man, Gao Qi, wielded two short daggers and moved like a ghost around Yu Bintian. Wherever he went, the Dirty Bone Fish shattered into pieces.
On the other side, a monk with arms as thick as tree trunks swung a crescent-shaped Zen staff as if it were a fierce storm, causing large groups of Dirty Bone Fish to explode and shatter like human-shaped titans.
A little further away, the young couple from the Huang family stood side by side. The woman held her hand in a special way, creating a blue shield around them. The man waved a silver long sword, making shining silver sword shadows. They worked together perfectly, ready to defend or attack.
The masked young man was also in a corner, swinging a bright red spear. Flames roared wherever the spear pointed. A circle of burnt Bone Fish remains lay around him, but his eyes kept glancing over at the Huang couple.
As for the other unknown cultivators, they used all kinds of techniques, leaving him amazed.
"Oh!"
Where did the girl in the green shirt go? She was just on the deck, but now she is nowhere to be found.
Could she have slipped away secretly?
Wang Yu suddenly noticed someone was missing from the crowd. Just as he felt surprised, he heard Elder Feng’s loud voice from above.
"Be careful, an unusual creature has entered!"
The small gap in the gray light screen suddenly widened, and a giant Dirty Bone Fish, as large as a whale and two meters long, plunged onto the deck. With a powerful swing of its tail, it knocked several crew members into a mushy mess.
The other crew members gasped and hurriedly dodged in all directions. Many cultivators stiffened and all focused their eyes on this gigantic creature.
"I will hold it still for a few moments, and then it’s up to you, my friends, to use your abilities."
Above the ship, Elder Feng shouted loudly, and then began to chant. A large gray thread of light flew from the Soul Banner, forming a big net to cover the Giant Dirty Bone Fish.
"Boom!"
The Giant Dirty Bone Fish’s heavy body crashed onto the deck like a small mountain. Though it struggled fiercely by thrashing its tail, it couldn’t break free from the net for a moment.
The other cultivators were overjoyed at this sight. Some activated their magical tools, while others directly threw attack talismans. Those skilled in close combat even swung their weapons, attacking the giant body of the Giant Dirty Bone Fish wildly.
The masked young man even shouted and harshly threw his spear, transforming it into a streak of red light.
In an instant, the Giant Dirty Bone Fish was filled with the sound of fiery explosions, and dark gas swirled around its body.
After a moment, the giant body of the Giant Dirty Bone Fish was covered in various wounds, and its head was firmly pinned to the deck by the red spear, appearing to be on the verge of death.
Wang Yu took the chance to strike twice. Although he didn’t use all his strength, he felt that the Giant Dirty Bone Fish was much tougher than a regular Bone Fish, leaving only two cuts from his sword.
He was secretly surprised that the masked youth’s spear could pierce straight through the Giant Dirty Bone Fish’s skull.
He wondered if it was because the masked youth was very strong, or if the red spear was unusual in some way.
"Ha ha, this is a strange creature; I feel like I can handle it all by myself," the monk seemed to be getting excited. After smashing the Giant Dirty Bone Fish’s tail a few times with his Crescent Moon Zen Cane, he laughed wildly.
Other cultivators looked at the monk with sideways glances, some seemed unimpressed.
Just then, the Giant Dirty Bone Fish, which had seemed unable to move, suddenly let out a sharp cry and began to swell up like a balloon.
"Oh no, it’s going to self-destruct!"
Those nearby gasped at the sight; both cultivators and ordinary crew members all ran away, trying to get far away, but it was clearly too late.
Wang Yu cursed under his breath and instinctively rolled away.
"A loud bang echoed."
Wang Yu felt a powerful wave of air rushing behind him, and he could vaguely see countless bone fragments flying by like a heavy rain, while nearby cries of terror rang out.
