Chapter 13: The First Battle
As someone who grew up in a modern city, Wang Yu had never faced such a dangerous situation. He felt both shocked and scared, gripping his iron sword tightly while his eyes were fixed on the small crossbow held by the leading figure, which had an unshot bolt ready.
The other three masked figures included two wielding long knives and one holding a spear.
What gave him a little comfort was that although his left shoulder was badly injured and bleeding, it didn’t hurt as much as he had feared. He probably hadn’t damaged any bones, which was a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.
The current problem was how someone who had only practiced swordsmanship for a few days could survive against these ruthless men.
Fortunately, this body didn’t belong to him. Even if he were to suffer a fatal injury, his original body on Blue Star wouldn’t truly be in danger.
Thinking of this, Wang Yu felt much braver and began to desperately recall the moves of the Splitting Wind Sword Technique in his mind.
"Be careful, this kid runs so well, he may not be an ordinary apprentice." The masked man with the crossbow fixed his gaze on Wang Yu, who was much taller than others his age. After saying this coldly, he moved the crossbow forward slightly, and the last bolt shot out, heading straight for Wang Yu’s face.
At the same time, two other masked men with knives rushed forward, while the one holding a spear took a step back, blocking the way down the mountain.
"Clang"
Wang Yu swung his iron sword in front of his face, knocking the shooting bolt aside. Then, he bent his body and charged towards the leading masked man, ignoring the two knife-wielding attackers.
"You’re seeking death!"
The leading masked man was taken aback, then became furious. He had no time to reload the crossbow, so he tossed it aside and pulled out a short blade from each side of his waist to face the rushing boy.
"First move!"
Wang Yu shouted loudly, gathering his courage. He pushed off with his legs and thrust his iron sword forward. In an instant, he became several times faster, rushing towards his opponent like a fierce wind.
He knew that his survival depended on whether he could catch the person in front of him by surprise, so he poured all his strength into this move.
The masked leader suddenly felt a strong wind rush in front of him, and the shadow of the sword was already at his face. He was greatly shocked and could only awkwardly cross his short blades in front of him.
There was a loud "bang."
The masked leader’s hands burned with heat, and the two short blades seemed to fly out of his grip like they had hit a hammer. Then he felt a scorching heat in his chest as the iron sword pierced him without any resistance, pushing him back five or six steps until he was pinned against a large tree.
"You…"
The masked leader still could not believe everything that had happened to him. He managed to say just one word before Wang Yu forcefully pulled the iron sword out of his body and swiftly slashed across his neck.
Blood gushed from the masked leader’s neck and chest, and he collapsed under the tree.
After taking a deep breath, Wang Yu held his sword with one hand and turned to face the two masked men charging at him.
After killing for the first time, his heart raced, and his face turned pale, but inside he felt a thrilling excitement that made his fear disappear completely.
"You little brat, what have you done?"
"Is Brother Li okay? He won’t really fall like this, right?"
Two masked men with knives saw this scene, feeling both shocked and angry. They shouted loudly, but their steps did not stop as they attacked from both sides. One man swung his knife down at the boy’s head with both hands, while the other quickly slashed sideways at Wang Yu’s waist with a long knife, working together perfectly.
"Fourth Move"
Seeing this dangerous scene, Wang Yu’s mind became even clearer. He whispered to himself, then suddenly stepped sideways to avoid the knife aimed at his head. He swung his long sword horizontally in front, blocking the knife coming at his waist.
"Clang"
The long knife and the broken iron sword flew into the air at the same time. One masked man, now empty-handed, stepped back two paces in shock, while Wang Yu’s iron sword was left in two pieces.
Wang Yu was stunned and did not have time to think much. The other masked man took this chance and quickly struck three times, the bright knife light coming down like a veil, almost making it impossible for him to open his eyes.
Wang Yu couldn’t see the truth of these three strikes at all. He steeled himself, bent slightly, and wildly waved the broken iron sword upward, charging towards the attacking masked man.
"Thud."
Three beams of light from the swords merged into one, suddenly changing direction to avoid the incoming half of an iron sword, then swiftly struck hard at Wang Yu’s arm holding the sword.
Wang Yu winced but did not look at the wound on his arm; instead, he leaned forward and crashed into his opponent with his good shoulder like a strong wind.
The sound of cracking bones echoed out.
The masked man with the knife let out a loud shout as he was knocked away by Wang Yu, landing heavily on the ground and making no more sound.
"Brother Qian, help me!"
Another unarmed masked man had just steadied himself; seeing this scene, he was greatly shocked, ignoring the flying weapon and turned to rush toward the masked man holding a long gun, shouting loudly.
Wang Yu, turning around, swung his arm with all his strength without thinking, sending the half iron sword flying out like a shadow into the back of the unarmed masked man.
The unarmed masked man, while running wildly, trembled and collapsed right in front of the armed masked man, with a bloody hole in his back, and blood gushed out like a spring.
At that moment, Wang Yu finally felt the sharp pain in his arm; he quickly glanced at it and saw a long wound that he could not tell how deep it was, with blood soaking half of his arm.
But he ignored the pain in his hand, enduring the sharp ache in his arm and shoulder. He picked up a long knife from the ground and looked at the last masked man holding a spear.
The masked man with the spear felt confused, as if he were trapped in a nightmare!
Four skilled fighters had come to chase after a simple young priest, and now only one was left, without even a moment to help.
At that moment, he saw Wang Yu glaring fiercely at him, which made his mouth dry and his legs weak.
This young priest is so extraordinary; he must not be an ordinary person.
Quickly thinking, the masked man said nothing more, grabbed his spear, and ran down the mountain as fast as he could.
Wang Yu was taken aback for a moment, then he sighed in relief.
Just then, a silver disc whistled out from the nearby trees, spinning around the masked man and then soaring back into the woods.
The masked man let out a terrible scream as his body was split in half, falling into a pool of blood.
"Who?"
Wang Yu stared at the nearby forest as if facing a great enemy.
"Hmph, dare to run away in battle? Did you really think I raised you all these years for nothing?" A cold voice came from the forest, followed by a young man in white, holding a silver fan that was stained with blood; the silver ring that had flown out earlier had transformed from this object.
"Do you really want to kill everyone?" Wang Yu tightened his grip on the long knife in his hand, feeling his heart sink.
"Hand over the treasure of the old Taoist of the Cloud, and I might spare your life. I have already searched the old man’s home and found nothing. At your young age, you have such skills; you must be a new disciple of that old man, so you should know something. If you tell me the truth, I might be able to spare your life." The young man in white looked at Wang Yu and asked darkly.
"I know nothing." Wang Yu did not believe what the young man said and refused without hesitation.
"Hehe, you’re not afraid of death. The guy Qingfeng said something similar before he died. I wonder if you’ll still be so tough after I cut off your head." The young man in white laughed with anger.
"Did you kill Senior Brother Qingfeng?!"
Wang Yu’s expression changed slightly at the young man’s words, he crossed his long knife in front of him, preparing to fight with all his might.
After previously killing three people, he gained significant confidence in his Bloodline Awakening and the Splitting Wind Sword Technique.
But in the next moment, darkness suddenly filled his eyes, and he felt the world spinning around him. "Thump," he fell to one knee, leaning on his sword, while blood dripped from his arm onto the ground.
Not good, I’ve lost too much blood!
Wang Yu thought to himself, feeling weak all over and unable to stand, his heart sinking.
The young man in white paused for a moment, surprised, but then burst out laughing. He waved his hand, and the silver fan in his palm spun endlessly, then he flicked his arm, sending it flying towards Wang Yu like a silver wheel.
Seeing this, Wang Yu realized he couldn’t get up. His heart felt like ash, filled with despair. But at that critical moment, a mechanical, emotionless voice echoed in his mind.
"Beep, beep… Host’s mental fluctuations are showing severe changes, signs of life detachment detected… Great danger identified… Taiyuan Auxiliary System passively activated…"
In the next instant, Wang Yu, who had been unable to move, suddenly rolled on the ground and easily avoided the falling silver wheel, which then traced a long arc before flying back into the young man’s hand.
The young man in white was momentarily stunned as he caught the returning silver fan, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"…The system is incomplete… Discovered unknown energy… The system is repairing itself using the unknown energy… The system is undergoing unusual changes… Repair completed… Starting to check the host’s body… Blood loss exceeds safe levels, there are injuries in secondary body parts, the host has lost control of their body… The auxiliary system starts to take over the host’s body, Automatic Protection Mechanism is activating… The system enters overclocking synchronization mode… Blocking the host’s nerve pain, blocking by ninety-nine point eight percent… The muscles at the damaged areas automatically contract, stopping the bleeding at eighty-four percent… Automatically stimulating adrenaline, heart rate begins to double… Predicting the host’s body can endure intense activity for three minutes and thirty-six seconds…"
Wang Yu stood still, feeling as if he was dreaming.
