Volume 1 + Chapter 19: Being The Loser
Early the next morning, Ouyang Qianxue arrived at school as usual. The moment she stepped into the classroom, the girls in her class surrounded her.
“Hey hey, Ouyang, how did it feel to be princess-carried by Bai Yuxuan yesterday?”
“You must’ve been over the moon, right? To be princess-carried by a hottie like Bai Yuxuan—I’d trade ten years of my life for that!”
“Yeah, yeah! Stop keeping us in suspense, Ouyang, spill it already!”
“I… I fainted yesterday, so I didn’t know anything about it. I didn’t feel anything.” Faced with their questioning, Ouyang Qianxue brushed them off.
But the gossipy girls weren’t about to let her go so easily.
“Then how did you feel afterward when you thought about it?”
“Being princess-carried by Bai Yuxuan in front of the whole school—it must’ve felt like ascending to heaven, right?”
“I… I wouldn’t know!” With that, Ouyang Qianxue pushed through the crowd, rushed to her seat, and buried her face in her arms like an ostrich sticking its head in the sand. No matter how much the other girls shook her, she refused to say another word.
“Huh? What’s up with Ouyang…?”
“She’s obviously embarrassed! A pure girl like her can’t handle this kind of teasing. Class is about to start—let’s stop pestering her and go back to our seats.” With that, the surrounding girls dispersed.
Hearing their words and remembering that she—a boy—had been princess-carried by someone else, Ouyang Qianxue felt her masculine dignity slipping away.
“Class is starting, School Beauty.” A voice suddenly came from above her. Ouyang Qianxue looked up and saw none other than Bai Yuxuan himself.
“Don’t talk to me. Let me calm down.” She immediately flopped back onto the desk.
“You look exhausted. The school doctor told me to remind you not to overexert yourself.”
“And whose fault do you think that is?!” Ouyang Qianxue shot him an indignant glare.
“If you hadn’t princess-carried me yesterday, those girls wouldn’t be so nosy today!”
“Hey, that’s pretty ungrateful. Don’t forget, I was the one who carried you to the infirmary. And this is how you treat your savior?”
“You! Ugh… fine. I do owe you thanks for that. Thank you for helping me.”
“You’re welcome. But don’t forget our agreement. Even though you lost because you fainted, that was still your own fault. So, as the loser, you have to unconditionally fulfill one of my demands.”
“Y-You… what are you planning?” Remembering what had happened in the student council office before, Ouyang Qianxue’s eyes turned wary.
Though she was biologically male, her appearance was entirely feminine. If Bai Yuxuan tried anything inappropriate and her true gender got exposed, the consequences would be unthinkable.
“Relax, I don’t have those kinds of intentions. As the heir of the Bai family, I wouldn’t risk my position just for momentary pleasure. Besides…” He paused, glancing at Ouyang Qianxue’s chest.
“Your flat figure doesn’t interest me in the slightest.” He covered his mouth and chuckled.
“What’s so funny?! So what if I’m flat? I don’t care!”
“Well then, come to my place this weekend. That’s when I’ll tell you my demand.”
“Your place? You mean… the Bai family estate?” The thought of visiting that influential household made her tremble slightly.
“Of course not. I refuse to call that place ‘home’!” Bai Yuxuan’s tone turned unusually sharp before he quickly regained his composure.
“Ah, my apologies. I meant the apartment I’m staying in near the school. Here’s the address.” He handed her a slip of paper.
When the weekend arrived, Ouyang Qianxue followed the address to an upscale apartment complex. She pressed the doorbell in front of one of the units.
“Oh, you’re here. Come in—no need to take off your shoes.” Bai Yuxuan, dressed in sportswear, opened the door.
Upon entering, Qianxue was stunned by the apartment’s sheer luxury. It was a duplex, with two floors per unit, and only two units in the entire building—more like stacked villas than an apartment. Bai Yuxuan had bought both units, explaining that he preferred the quiet.
“You’re seriously extravagant, living alone in a place this huge. Sakura Academy’s dorms are already plenty nice.”
“But besides studying, I also have to handle family affairs. The dorms aren’t convenient for that.” He took a chilled tea from the fridge and handed it to her.
“Alright, let’s get to the point. What exactly did you call me here for?” Ouyang Qianxue asked, accepting the drink.
“It’s nothing too hard. I just want you to be my personal maid for the weekend.”
“What?!”
“Did you not hear me? I said ‘maid.’”
“Are you kidding me?! There’s no way I’d agree to something so ridiculous!” Being a boy, the idea of dressing as a maid for Bai Yuxuan was beyond humiliating.
“You refuse? What a shame. Now that I think about it, your little sister is quite the cutie. Maybe I should pay her a visit sometime.” He pulled out his phone, displaying a clear photo of Ouyang Qianxue’s younger sister.
“Fine, I’ll do it! You demon!”
“Hehe, that’s more like it. But wearing your school uniform as a maid is just sad. Who even wears their uniform on the weekend?” He sighed, rubbing his forehead.
“None of your business! I’ll work, okay?”
“Hold on.” Bai Yuxuan stopped her.
“I already prepared an outfit for you. Go change in the other room.” He handed her a package.
“I had this maid dress custom-made for you online. Oh, and don’t worry—I adjusted the chest size to fit your… proportions.”
“I’ll kill you! Do you have to keep bringing that up?! And I’m not wearing this!”
“If you don’t, then you’re not a proper maid. In that case, I might just have to contact your sister. Given her financial struggles, I’m sure she’d be happy to take your place. I can offer a very generous salary.”
Just as Bai Yuxuan reached for his phone, Ouyang Qianxue grabbed his wrist.
“I’ll wear it! I’ll wear it, okay?!” Tears streamed down her face.
Ten minutes later, a golden twin-tailed maid in a black-and-white lace-trimmed dress stood before Bai Yuxuan.
