Chapter 3: They Were Born
In front of Lin Yu lay ten eggs, all roughly the same size. Each was white with a rough surface, marked by small dents and bumps resembling the surface of the moon.
After observing the eggs for a while, Lin Yu still couldn’t quite understand what she had given birth to.
If only I could see a status panel for these eggs like before, she thought.
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, everything around her lit up.

So weak… It must be because it’s still an egg, right? Lin Yu reassured herself. After they hatch, they shouldn’t have these attributes anymore.
But then her gaze landed on the designation Race: Weak Ant.
What is this “Weak Ant” race? It doesn’t sound very promising.
She puffed herself up indignantly. Hmph, weaklings! I could take down ten of these eggs with ease!
…
After laying the eggs, it seemed all she could do now was wait for them to hatch.
But doing nothing didn’t sit well with Lin Yu, so she decided to use her remaining Magic Value to lay two more batches of eggs.
This time, she was smarter about it. Staying near the pile of eggshells, she made sure to bite into a piece of shell just as her belly started to swell.
Crunch, crunch, crunch…
When the magic circle disappeared, the feeling of hunger was much less intense than before. Her Health Value didn’t drop this time either—though the pile of eggshells diminished noticeably.
As the process completed, two beams of white light flashed, revealing twenty new Weak Ant Eggs.
Satisfied, Lin Yu checked each of the eggs carefully and noticed something different. Among the twenty new eggs, two had a D Qualification.
If D Qualification exists, these two should be stronger than the others without any qualifications, Lin Yu thought optimistically.
Now all she could do was wait for her “children” to hatch.
So boring…
Her thoughts wandered. I miss playing games, reading novels, and watching anime…
Lin Yu lay down on the ground, resting her head on her two front legs, her gaze fixed on the dark, deep passage ahead. She couldn’t truly relax until she knew what was inside the passage—or what might be lurking on the other side.
…
Time ticked by, second after second.
In the eerie stillness of the cave, Lin Yu began to feel drowsy.
To pass the time, she alternated between watching the Weak Ant Eggs and repeatedly examining her Status Panel.
She also turned her attention to the big ant’s body, which resembled her mother.
Out of boredom, she climbed onto the large ant, hoping to check its Status Panel. But this time, no information appeared.
Maybe I can only see my own status panel? Or maybe I can only see the status of my “children” because of the Unique Skill – Queen Ant?
She sighed. Never mind… It’s pointless to overthink things I can’t prove.
Sliding off her mother’s massive body, Lin Yu realized just how small she was in comparison. The size difference between them felt like that of an elephant to a human. However, being in another world, she didn’t have a clear sense of her current size.
About two hours later, Lin Yu noticed that her Health Value and Magic Value had each recovered by 1 point.
/ Health Value: 4/10
/ Magic Value: 1/12
From her observations, it seemed it took roughly three hours to recover a single point of Health and Magic.
If I need 12 points of Magic to lay more eggs, I’ll need at least nine more hours to recover fully…
She sighed. That means no more egg-laying for now.
Another hour passed.
The first batch of Weak Ant Eggs began to make noises.
First, there was a soft crackling sound. Then, the surfaces of the eggshells started to crack, the fissures widening as pieces of shell fell away.
Are they hatching?!
Lin Yu sat up straight, her red eyes gleaming as she stared intently at the ten eggs from the first batch.
If her emotions had been mixed when she laid the first batch of eggs, by the time the second and third batches arrived, all she could feel was anticipation. After all, based on her knowledge from her original world, almost all ants were female.
Finally, a black ant broke through its eggshell and crawled out.
It was about the size of Lin Yu’s head. Its entire body, including its eyes, was black—just like the common ants Lin Yu had seen in her original world.
Why is it black? Lin Yu wondered. I’m pure white… and their eggshells were white too…
The thought startled her, but before she could dwell on it, a flood of information rushed into her mind:
Unique Skill – Queen Ant
You can control all offspring produced via the “Egg-Laying” skill and gain their complete loyalty. The skill has three effects:
1. The skill holder can view all status information of their offspring.
2. The skill holder can establish a connection with the offspring, fully or partially controlling their bodies.
3. The skill holder can copy and transfer their skills to the offspring. The skills “Unique Skill – Queen Ant” and “Egg-Laying” are excluded. Each skill can only be transferred once, and the success rate depends on the offspring’s abilities.
So this is how the skill works.
Lin Yu reflected on the description. I’ve already used the first effect before. I can test the second effect now. As for the third… well, since I don’t have any other skills yet, there’s nothing to transfer.
After digesting this newfound knowledge, Lin Yu turned her attention back to the Weak Ants that had hatched.
The antennae on their heads wiggled constantly, and their black eyes fixated on Lin Yu. They seemed to understand instinctively that the pure white giant ant before them was their mother.
Despite knowing they were completely loyal to her, Lin Yu couldn’t help but feel slightly nervous under the gaze of ten large, insect-like eyes.
She opened their Status Panels one by one.
Name: None
Species: Weak Ant (Growing)
Qualification: None
Rank: None
Level: LV.1
Health Points: 3/3
Magic Points: 0/0
Skills: None
Attributes:
Strength: 0
Agility: 0
Intelligence: 0
Physical Resistance Ability: 0
Elemental Magic Resistance Ability: 0
Abnormal State Resistance Ability: 0
3 points of Health… still really weak… Lin Yu mused.
But then a realization struck her. The combined Health Value of all ten of them is higher than mine! Wait… does that mean if all ten attacked at once, I might not win?
This thought left her with a strange mix of safety and danger. What is this feeling?
Still, she couldn’t help but chuckle. But all their other attributes are 0! Hahaha, daughters can’t compare to their mom!
Amused by her own thoughts, Lin Yu decided to test the second effect of her skill. She tried establishing a connection with one of the Weak Ants.
The connection was seamless.
It felt as natural as moving her own limbs. Lin Yu immediately understood the description in the skill:
Complete control allows the skill holder to fully control the body of the Weak Ant, just like controlling their own body. This includes full access to the ant’s emotions and thoughts. Commands can also be issued through the connection.
Partial control allows the skill holder to adjust the level of influence. For example, they can control only the ant’s eyes while leaving the rest of its body autonomous. Alternatively, they can observe the ant’s thoughts and emotions from a third-person perspective while relinquishing direct control.
At that moment, Lin Yu could hear the Weak Ant’s thoughts.
Its mind was simple, consumed by a single word:
Hungry.
