Chapter 222: What Is That Thing?
Army Lady and Stealth One darted through the goblin horde, racing at maximum speed toward the Goblin Wizards.
Though over a dozen Goblin Wizards remained guarded by Goblin Warriors, making their complete eradication time-consuming, the two had only slain two wizards when agonized screams erupted behind them. Their hearts sank as they spun to see Lvzi’s blood-drenched torso – the green-haired girl staggered backward, her right arm severed.
"Hahaha! Let’s see whose blade strikes faster! I’ll sever this green-haired wench’s limbs before snapping her neck!!" roared Luo Yong. "These bitches cost me countless goblins – as despicable as Inukami! They probably destroyed the Goblin Tribe that razed the human race’s village too!"
The tyrant flung a severed arm from his left hand. A leaping Big Goblin snatched it midair, crunching bones with excited gibbering. "Delicious, isn’t it?" Luo Yong sneered, advancing on the maimed girl. "You’ll lose your left arm next, filthy bitch, for daring to oppose me!"
The Magic Shield’s protection rendered both Acid Spray and poison gas temporarily ineffective. Even when breached, the corrosive liquid’s velocity diminished, allowing the Goblin Wizards to regenerate their shields. Without eliminating these casters, Lvzi – weakened in close combat – couldn’t withstand repeated assaults.
Gritting their teeth, Army Lady and Stealth One refocused on their quarry. Though Lvzi possessed the "Undying" skill, each resurrection consumed a tenth of her Magic Value. At her current reserves, six or seven revivals remained if she conserved energy. Their foe’s deliberate prolonging of her torment meant time still lingered – and hope.
"Stealth Two! All units!"
"Understood, Sister Stealth One!"
Six Stealth Ants materialized from shadows nearby, slicing through goblin ranks to reinforce their leaders. Their aid promised quicker wizard elimination – until Luo Yong whirled, unleashing his "Leadership" skill. The empowered Goblin Wizards and Warriors, though moderately enhanced, became substantially more formidable through collective amplification. Common goblins and Big Goblins surged forward in renewed frenzy.
"Surrender! Witness your companion’s dismemberment!!" Luo Yong’s mad laughter harmonized with fresh screams. The ants turned to see Lvzi’s left arm spiraling through the air, severed by another swordstroke.
"That monster…" Army Lady’s silver teeth ground together, her blade trembling with fury as she prepared to charge.
"Steady!" urged Stealth One. "Prioritize the wizards! Once they fall, Lvzi escapes!"
"Easy words! These fiends won’t die swiftly!"
"We have no choice! Even combined, the three of us stand no chance against that reincarnator."
Stealth One’s expression darkened equally.
What should be done? What could possibly be done in such a situation?
"Leave me behind! Army Lady, Stealth One—you must flee!"
At that moment, Lvzi’s cheeks ballooned before she retched violently.
A torrent of green acid mingled with blood splattered toward the Goblin King. Beneath her severed shoulder, two pristine white arms erupted with a sizzling sound.
"Come at me, filthy goblin! Ants possess six limbs for a reason!"
Agony—agony—agony!!
Clenching her teeth, Lvzi bolted toward the nearby forest.
Army Lady and Stealth One exchanged a glance, their eyes alight with realization.
Of course! If they could escape the Goblin Wizards’ line of sight, their Magic Shields would deactivate. Then Lvzi’s skills might grant her an opening to flee.
They maintained their assault on the goblins while stealing glances at Lvzi’s retreating figure.
"Foolish! You think flight is possible?"
Luo Yong sneered as the acid slid harmlessly off his Magic Shield, but his pursuit faltered when his boots stuck. Glancing down, he found the ground beneath him flooded with corrosive liquid.
So the real target had been the terrain all along.
Pathetic trickery!
Still, the acid hampered his movements. His grin widened as he watched the green-haired girl stagger away. Muscles bulging in his sword-arm, he unleashed a devastating thrust—
CRACK!!
The blade tore through the air with thunderous fury. Too swift to evade, it impaled the fleeing girl’s chest before skewering multiple trees and embedding itself in the earth, spraying soil and debris.
"Ghk—!"
Lvzi’s eyes flew wide as blood gushed from her lips. The strike reduced her Health Value to a sliver. Stumbling, she collapsed against a tree trunk, her labored breaths shallow and ragged.
This is it…
Was failure inevitable?
Despair gripped Army Lady and Stealth One as the Goblin Reincarnator wrenched free from the acid, advancing relentlessly toward their comrade.
"ROOOOARRR—!"
A lupine howl shattered the moment—distant at first, then abruptly deafening.
CRUNCH!
CRACK!
Before Army Lady and Stealth One could react, several Goblin Wizards and Warriors were hurled screaming through the air, their torsoś gouged by claw-like wounds. A yellow-furred blur darted among the goblins, moving faster than eyes could track.
Not a goblin.
What manner of monster…?
The pair remained vigilant, signaling Stealth Two and Stealth Three to merge six ant companions into their shadows. Yet the mysterious creature showed no interest in attacking them.
They watched the golden streak whirl through the goblin ranks, painting the air with crimson sprays. Though lacking lethal force per strike, its blistering speed overwhelmed the goblins—unable to retaliate, they fell one after another, either dead or grievously wounded.
Within moments, the Goblin Wizards and Warriors lay decimated, their surviving members writhing in the dirt.
