Chapter 221: Battle
Though merely Class B LV.38, this creature’s attributes were absurdly high, far exceeding the combined stats of our trio.
His overwhelming power became evident from that single strike against Stealth One earlier—likely not even his full strength.
…This won’t work. A direct confrontation would spell defeat.
Moreover, we couldn’t be certain if more advanced goblins lurked within the cave.
"Retreat!"
"Right!"
Lvzi and Stealth One nodded in understanding. The three immediately whirled to flee.
Yet as they retreated, Luo Yong chuckled darkly.
"Flee? Your speed is pitiful!"
They had barely covered any distance when a gust roared behind them. Army Lady’s instincts flared—she pivoted mid-stride, sword raised defensively.
CRASH!!
The blade intercepted the fist but couldn’t fully absorb the impact.
As the punch surged with renewed force, Army Lady was hurled backward alongside her weapon, slamming into the cavern wall with such violence that the stone cratered around her.
"Army Lady!"
"No use! His speed outmatches ours!"
"Then we fight to the death! Cover me, Stealth One!"
"Understood."
Lvzi lunged forward, her free hand glistening with emerald-hued fluid. Simultaneously, Stealth One dissolved into shadows streaking toward the Goblin King.
"Oh? Approaching instead of fleeing? Hah! Throw yourselves at me like this, and I might grant mercy!"
Luo Yong spread his arms in mock welcome, grinning viciously.
Before his taunt faded, Stealth One materialized at his flank—not in human form, but fully transformed into her antoid battle stance.
Her skill "Magnification" activated.
The warrior’s frame ballooned monstrously as her strength and Health Value Limit tripled. Razor-sharp forelimbs stabbed toward their foe.
CLANG!
The strike rang metallic as blade meeting steel.
When the resonance faded, only a shallow gash marred Luo Yong’s flesh—a trickle of blood ceasing within moments.
*His Physical Resistance Ability… Even tripled strength can’t pierce it!*
*Can we truly overcome such a monster?*
As Stealth One recoiled from the failed assault, the goblin’s muscular arm snapped forward—crushing her forelimb in an iron grip.
"Ant monsters?! You’re not adventurers of the human race?"
Though he had captured Stealth One, astonishment flooded Luo Yong’s face.
What was going on? Weren’t they supposed to be human? The skills listed in the Attribute Panel were all familiar to him, with none capable of transforming them into the ant clan.
Moreover, the Identification results explicitly labeled them as human.
"Release her!"
A sharp cry rang out as a green-haired figure came into view.
Distracted, Luo Yong initially focused on the sword in Lvzi’s grip. Yet the attack came not from her blade-wielding right hand, but from the viscous green acid pooled in her left palm.
With a swift motion, Lvzi hurled the corrosive liquid. The close proximity and Luo Yong’s carelessness allowed the acid to strike his face directly.
"Gah!!"
The sudden assault left Luo Yong reeling—both from the shock of the ambush and the searing pain as the acid began eating into his flesh.
Though his Health Value only decreased by a dozen points, the agonizing burn of corrosion proved nearly intolerable.
His right hand reflexively released Stealth One as both palms frantically scrubbed at his face.
"Now—move!"
Lvzi seized Stealth One’s now-human hand while glancing at Army Lady, who had recovered from being smashed against the wall. After exchanging a nod, the trio bolted toward the cave entrance.
Luo Yong’s enraged roar echoed behind them.
He was giving chase!
"Think again!"
Whirling around, Lvzi flung both arms outward. A fan-shaped spray of green acid arced through the air.
Cursing, Luo Yong crossed his forearms before his face—a hard-learned reflex.
Drops splattered his arms.
This time, the liquid lacked its corrosive bite. Instead, numbness locked his limbs the moment it made contact.
Given his formidable attributes, the paralysis would likely be brief.
Capitalizing on his immobilized state, the three sprinted free of the cavern—only to face concentric rings of goblins hemming them in.
Weren’t these creatures supposed to be disorganized?
The reincarnator’s work?
Cutting through such numbers would take precious time—
"Sister Stealth One, we’ll assist."
Stealth Two’s voice resonated as the shadows beneath the trio contorted, morphing into six hulking gray ants.
During the earlier clash with the Goblin King, Stealth One had withheld her subordinates.
Two reasons: If three elites couldn’t harm the Goblin King, neither would six ambushers—even striking from shadows—manage meaningful damage.
The second reason was that Stealth Two and her group didn’t possess the "Immortal" skill, making them inherently weaker than the trio. Facing the Goblin King, even a minor misstep could lead to their immediate demise.
Stealth One refused to let them take such risks.
But the current swarm of goblins presented a different scenario altogether.
Ordinary goblins, Big Goblins, and weapon-wielding Goblin Warriors surged forward in chaotic waves.
Army Lady, Lvzi, and Stealth One advanced with their six Stealth Ant companions.
The green-skinned horde stood no chance against nine ants – goblins fell one after another, their screams echoing incessantly through the cavern.
Yet despite the carnage, these typically cowardly creatures displayed unnatural ferocity, pressing forward in endless numbers without retreat.
The overwhelming swarm tightened around Army Lady’s group, preventing them from breaking free.
"You’ll never escape! Damned insects!" Luo Yong roared, having shaken off his paralysis. "You’ll pay for wounding me – I’ll make your deaths agonizing!"
Behind him emerged a new threat: a dozen staff-bearing Goblin Wizards followed by thirty armored Goblin Warriors clanking in formation.
Clearly, the cave held more dangers than they’d anticipated.
"Lvzi!"
"On it!"
The green-haired warrior flung her arms backward, unleashing a corrosive downpour.
Sizzling droplets…
…splattered harmlessly against shimmering barriers of light.
Magic Shield.
Protected by the glowing domes, Luo Yong drew his curved blade with a metallic rasp. "Fools! I’m no common gutter-goblin!"
His magic-reinforced charge brought him before the trio in three thunderous strides.
"Army Lady! The shields!"
"Engaging."
While the Goblin King’s defenses were impenetrable, these Wizard-enhanced barriers had vulnerabilities.
Shatter the magical protection, and Lvzi’s paralysis could buy their escape.
