Chapter 219: Untitled
The goblin army had advanced perilously close to the Granville Monster Forest.
Given their overwhelming numbers, Lin Yu had summoned all her daughters back to the castle.
"Each of the twenty-plus Goblin Tribes is led by a Goblin King. Eliminate those leaders, and the tribes will descend into chaos—scattered like windblown sand."
"Hmm, Sister Magic Rainbow speaks wisely."
Red Pupil bobbed her petite head in agreement.
"Goblin Kings are Class B or C monsters. The Stealth Ant sisters already tracking the hordes should be capable of assassinating them."
"Precisely! And with Purple Mist and me present, escape is impossible!"
Beside Magic Rainbow, one of the violet ants lifted a forelimb with conviction.
They stood gathered on the balcony.
Though such strategic discussions typically occurred in the grand hall below, its cavernous space felt unnecessarily formal for this meeting.
Lin Yu surveyed her daughters.
Red Pupil, Magic Rainbow, Purple Cloud, and Purple Mist stood prominently. Worker Liquor hovered protectively near Weak Sound, who peeked timidly from behind her. Then there was…
Her gaze settled on a solitary gray ant lingering at the periphery.
Darkling Stalker.
Lin Yu had half-expected the taciturn daughter to ignore the summons. Previous attempts to observe through her perspective had resulted in jarring moments where the ant’s intense stare seemed to pierce through their psychic link.
Yet here Darkling Stalker stood—first to arrive, as it turned out.
This daughter spoke even less than Stealth One and her fellow Stealth Ants. In truth, Lin Yu couldn’t recall ever hearing her voice. Their prior encounters had been silent standoffs, the ant’s unblinking compound eyes fixed unwaveringly on her.
Even now, that unnerving gaze remained locked on Lin Yu.
A faint shiver crept along the woman’s spine.
An empty radius surrounded Darkling Stalker, contrasting sharply with Magic Rainbow’s lively cluster of Purple Cloud, Purple Mist, Worker Liquor, and Weak Sound. The rainbow-hued ant appeared to thrive as the group’s radiant center.
The scene stirred unexpected empathy in Lin Yu. This isolation mirrored her own reclusive existence in that previous life…
"Mother’s opinion?"
"Hm?"
"You drifted away just now. Something troubling you?"
Red Pupil tilted her head upward, ruby eyes wide. The child-sized ant perched comfortably on her silver-haired mother’s lap, curious tilt of her antennae amplifying her innate charm.
Lin Yu’s hand moved automatically to stroke the girl’s hair, silken strands slipping through her fingers like liquid moonlight.
"It’s nothing. What were you asking earlier?"
"I propose stationing our sister ants in the tunnels surrounding the First Ant Nest. When the Goblin Tribe enters Granville Forest tonight, our Stealth Ant sisters will assassinate the Goblin King. Then we’ll eliminate the confused goblins. What does Mother think?"
Red Pupil’s eyes narrowed with pleasure.
"Yes, proceed accordingly."
There seemed no alternative.
These goblins couldn’t be permitted to invade Granville Monster Forest. With monster populations already dwindling, the sheer numbers of these root-devouring creatures would strip the land bare.
The plan finalized, assignments began.
In Army Lady and Lvzi’s absence, Red Pupil and Magic Rainbow assumed command of Iron Armored Ants, Acid Ants, and Military Ants – their specific troop allocations left to the commanders’ discretion.
Purple Cloud and Purple Mist maintained leadership of Flying Ants, tasked with tracking the Goblin Tribe’s movements and hunting fleeing advanced goblins.
Though initially designated to lead the Weak Ant Tribe given her lineage, Weak Sound declined with trembling resolve, retreating behind Worker Liquor while citing self-doubt. A reasonable hesitation – the ten-thousand-strong Weak Ant Tribe constituted the largest contingent, and leadership ill-suited her timid nature.
Thus Weak Ant command fell to Red Pupil.
Worker Liquor organized Worker Ants to coat combatants in Special Mucus – crucial protection against Goblin Wizards’ Fireball spells. The viscous substance provided both Physical Resistance Ability and elemental magic resistance, granting even low-tier Weak Ants better odds against goblin grunts.
Darkling Stalker’s deployment was entrusted to Magic Rainbow’s judgment.
…
As the ant clans fortified their positions, elsewhere…
Army Lady, Lvzi, and Stealth One discovered a cavern during reconnaissance. Two Class B high-level Goblin Kings guarded its mouth – markedly stronger than typical Goblin Warriors. Surrounding the cave sprawled hundreds of crude Goblin Sheds, suggesting a three-thousand-strong tribe.
"Two Class B elites guarding…" Army Lady murmured, stern features alight with anticipation.
"The cave’s master must be formidable," Lvzi observed. "Likely connected to recent nocturnal goblin activities."
Stealth One interjected as Army Lady proposed direct assault: "Rash! A Class A Monster might dwell within."
"Then your counsel?" Army Lady challenged.
Before Stealth One could respond, Lvzi grinned. "Slay the kings first! Their death brings chaos. Massacre enough goblins and the master emerges – avoiding cave combat and enabling retreat if needed."
Though irked by Lvzi’s smugness, both recognized the strategy’s merit.
"Execute!" Army Lady declared.
Stealth One dissolved into shadowy movement between Goblin Sheds while the others strode openly into camp.
"Gaba! Gaba!!"
Club-wielding sentries charged – only to collapse mid-scream, faces frozen in aggression.
"A satisfying release of restraint," Army Lady remarked, battle-lust kindling in her crimson gaze.
