Chapter 217: Untitled
The next morning, Army Lady and Lvzi brought Stealth One to the Adventurer’s Guild for registration.
Given Lvzi’s prior precedent, Elena showed little skepticism toward Stealth One’s claim of being a low-tier Class B adventurer this time. Nevertheless, the addition of another low-tier Class B newcomer sparked another commotion within the guild.
Adventurers cast glances at Stealth One—some doubtful, others astonished, while a few scoffed dismissively. Ignoring the scrutiny, Stealth One proceeded to register herself into Army Lady and Lvzi’s Adventurer Squad.
“Now, what should we name our Adventurer Squad?”
Army Lady suddenly brought up the matter after Stealth One completed her registration.
Much like Sylvestre’s squad bearing the name “Wings of Freedom,” most Adventurer Squads adopted titles for easier recognition and reputation-building. Army Lady had previously neglected this consideration, as the squad had only consisted of herself and Lvzi, and no suitable name had come to mind. But with Stealth One’s inclusion, the time had come to decide.
However, before that—
“The captain!” Lvzi interjected, raising her hand. “We haven’t chosen a captain yet!”
Just as Sylvestre led the Wings of Freedom, their trio needed a leader.
“Then let’s settle the leadership first,” Army Lady agreed with a nod.
The three exchanged glances.
Apart from Lvzi, the other two seemed mildly displeased with each other. Setting aside personal biases, they weighed factors like Adventurer Level and current standing within the guild… Eventually, they agreed to appoint Lvzi as captain.
“That means you two must call me Captain Lvzi from now on! Or… Sister Lvzi works too! Oh, and since I’m the captain, you’ll have to obey my orders without question. No backtalk, got it? Heehee—”
“…”
“…”
Army Lady and Stealth One ignored her, exchanging a silent glance instead.
“We’ll discuss the squad name while walking,” Army Lady suggested.
“Agreed,” Stealth One replied.
They turned and strode out of the guild, leaving Lvzi behind.
“Hey, wait for me! I’m the captain here – don’t you dare ignore me!”
Lvzi scrambled after them, eventually looping her arm through Army Lady’s. After futile attempts to shake free, Army Lady gave up and addressed Stealth One:
“The giant wolf subjugation is a Class A quest. Since we accepted it as a squad mission, it won’t contribute to individual Adventurer Levels.”
“I’m aware,” Stealth One answered. “Once this squad quest concludes, I’ll undertake new assignments to advance my Adventurer Level independently.”
"Well, your mother sent you to this town to acquire as many Magic Recovery Potions as possible. You should be aware of this."
Army Lady paused before continuing.
"However, the simplest way to obtain more Magic Recovery Potions quickly would be to seize control of this settlement. Occupying the town would substantially increase our access to these potions."
"Indeed, Army Lady speaks wisely."
Lvzi’s demeanor shifted to seriousness as the conversation turned strategic.
"During our engagement with the Goblin Tribe, we observed every soldier carrying multiple magic potions restoring both Health Value and Magic Value. This suggests the Apothecary supplies significant quantities to the lord’s forces, with additional reserves likely stored within military compounds."
"Yet we remain uninformed about the town’s complete defensive capabilities," Stealth One interjected.
"The precise troop count and their levels, the rumored Flying Beast Army under the lord’s command, and the presence of Remote Speakers enabling external communication… These factors pose substantial risks that must be evaluated before any assault."
"Though ultimately, Mother would likely oppose attacking the town," Lvzi remarked abruptly.
"True…" Stealth One’s response trailed off as if recalling something.
"Perhaps your involvement in eliminating the goblins was unwise."
"What do you mean?" Army Lady frowned in confusion.
"Participating in the Goblin Tribe extermination to raise our Adventurer Level was Mother’s direct command."
"Without your intervention, the combined forces of soldiers and adventurers might have failed against the goblins?"
"They would’ve sustained heavy casualties, certainly."
"After such losses, how would the town react? Would the Goblin Tribe intensify attacks on human territories and villages? Escalation could have revealed valuable intelligence."
"Ah, I comprehend now…" Army Lady’s features cleared with understanding.
"But there’s still time to act, yes?" Lvzi seized the conversational thread.
"Now… Oh! You propose—?"
Stealth One’s composed expression fractured into surprise as she stared at Lvzi.
"St-Stop gazing at me like that!"
The green-haired girl suddenly reverted to playful antics, clinging to Stealth One’s arm.
"You’ll make me blush!"
"…"
Blush? Does she truly understand the concept?
Observing the cheek-rubbing antics of the emerald-haired youth, even Stealth One struggled to suppress internal commentary.
"Your earlier suggestion…"
"Oh, that was just idle chatter! We can’t possibly control such massive goblin hordes."
"True… Though Sister Red Pupil and Sister Magic Rainbow might devise solutions."
Their discussion concluded as they reached the stables.
Horses could be rented here—ordinary citizens required substantial deposits, but adventurers merely needed to present their Adventurer ID and provide signatures, enjoying reduced rates.
Army Lady and Stealth One selected mounts while Lvzi mounted behind Army Lady, declaring fiscal responsibility.
They proceeded to the city gates at restrained pace; excessive speed risked fines from patrol guards.
…
Days later,
The trio arrived at the southern hill forests.
While searching for giant wolves, they instead encountered a goblin force—hundreds strong, possibly thousands, led by a towering Goblin King.
The nocturnal creatures had evaded daytime detection.
Simultaneously, they encountered Stealth Ants shadowing the goblin procession—silent observers tracking the tribe’s movements.
