Chapter 210: Crush These Green Skins!
Flaming arrows rained down upon the wooden shelters, large and small, followed by torches hurled through the air.
The structures were instantly set ablaze.
"Gaba!"
"Gaba gaba!!"
…
The entire Goblin Tribe erupted into flames as panicked shrieks of goblins echoed throughout.
Some goblins could be seen darting about, their bodies engulfed in fire.
"Now’s our chance! Charge!!"
At Lit’s command, soldiers and adventurers alike unsheathed their weapons and stormed into the Goblin Tribe.
The first agonized cries of goblins began to rise.
"Laikalis! That large central shelter must be the Goblin King’s lair!"
"Understood! Leave it to me, haha!"
After the planned path was cleared by soldiers and adventurers, Laikalis led the charge toward the large shelter on horseback, followed by fifty knights and a dozen adventurers.
Among them were Army Lady and Lvzi.
Meanwhile, flames from a neighboring shelter began licking at the largest structure.
With a thunderous roar, a powerfully built goblin clad in golden armor emerged from the great shelter, flanked by two Goblin Wizards clutching crude magic wands and four Goblin Warriors brandishing iron spears and swords.
"Is that… the Goblin King?! By the gods, it looks like at least a high-tier Class C monster!"
"No, even a high-tier Class C Goblin King wouldn’t be this formidable. This must be Class B."
"It’s monstrous…"
"Wait! Look behind him – Goblin Wizards and Warriors!"
As the adventurers’ gazes shifted toward the Wizards, their magic wands began to glow.
Moisture coalesced before them, rapidly expanding into a massive sphere.
The conjured water promptly extinguished nearby burning shelters.
"GABA!!!"
The Goblin King’s bellow instantly steadied his troops, who rallied for counterattack.
Yet in those brief moments, already two to three hundred goblins lay dead or burning.
"Clear a path for the Knight Commander!"
"Crush these green-skinned vermin!"
Big Goblins continually emerged to block the advance toward the Goblin King’s position.
It was then that Army Lady and Lvzi witnessed Laikalis’ prowess in combat.
As a Big Goblin swung its massive club downward, the warrior anticipated the move perfectly – stepping onto the creature’s wrist before launching himself upward, his greatsword descending in a devastating vertical slash.
The Big Goblin’s next movement froze mid-action as its body was simultaneously cleaved in two, collapsing sideways with a sickening thud.
A wet explosion of crimson erupted upon impact, splattering gory viscera across the ground in grotesque patterns. Without missing a beat, Laikalis surged forward into the goblin horde, his heavy sword carving a bloody path toward the Goblin King’s position while maintaining relentless momentum.
Flanking him were several Class C guardian knights including Lit, their blades flashing as they intercepted any goblins attempting to hinder Laikalis’ advance. Army Lady and Lvzi proved equally lethal, dispatching multiple Big Goblins while rescuing several knights – a display that earned them a brief glance of acknowledgment from the charging warrior.
Within moments, Laikalis closed within striking distance of the Goblin King, only for four elite Goblin Warriors to intercept him. The instant their weapons clashed, the battle-hardened warrior recognized these weren’t ordinary foes – their combat prowess far surpassed any goblins he’d encountered during his approach.
These are high-tier Class C monsters… Laikalis realized grimly as he parried their coordinated assault. Even his considerable skill couldn’t prevent accumulating minor wounds, though his opponents fared worse. But defeating them would require prolonged combat, likely leaving him severely injured regardless of victory.
"Laikalis!"
Lit’s voice rang out as he arrived with reinforcements. "We’ll handle these! Go for their leader!"
"Be warned – these are high-level Class C monsters!" Laikalis shouted before exploiting an opening to disengage, resuming his charge toward the Goblin King.
He’d barely covered ground when ominous red light began pulsing from the Goblin Wizards’ magic wands. Twin beams of crimson energy shot past him, striking something behind with terrifying results.
"GRAHH!!"
"Captain Lit! What are you doing?! Dodge!"
The panicked shouts made Laikalis whirl around to see Lit clutching a horrific wound spanning his chest, blood gushing between his fingers. The other knights struggled to assist, suddenly overpowered by the Goblin Warriors whose strength had inexplicably surged. Lit’s injury came from intercepting an attack meant for a comrade, leaving him vulnerable to a brutal slash.
"Laikalis! Behind you-!"
The warning came too late. A rush of air was his only alert before-
CLANG!
The Goblin King’s massive greatsword smashed into his raised blade with bone-jarring force. The impact numbed Laikalis’ arms, sending him skidding backward as coppery blood filled his mouth.
"Pah!" He spat the metallic taste away, glaring at the towering adversary.
This was no ordinary foe. The Goblin King radiated power – a Class B monster potentially matching his own level. Gripping his sword tighter, Laikalis entered complete focus, every sense attuned to the coming duel.
"Captain! Can you move?!"
The distant cries for Lit faded from awareness. There could be no distractions now – his comrade’s survival rested in fate’s hands.
