Chapter 204: Untitled
Army Lady and Lvzi trailed a Big Goblin from afar, careful not to be detected.
After several hours, as twilight descended, their pursuit led them to the Goblin Tribe’s settlement.
The area was largely clear woodland.
Just as Lin Yu had described to them before, their eyes met countless crude wooden shacks of varying sizes, many appearing rather dilapidated.
Only the central structure stood relatively intact – noticeably more spacious and taller than its surrounding huts.
"So many Big Goblins!"
Perched high in a tree, Lvzi and Army Lady observed the scene.
At first glance, they counted at least thirty to forty Big Goblins.
"This Goblin Tribe seems far more numerous than what Mother encountered before."
"Likely because this area isn’t as perilous as the Granville Monster Forest," Lvzi mused. "That would explain how their tribe expanded so rapidly."
Their journey following the Big Goblins had been surprisingly uneventful – they’d encountered neither powerful monsters nor many monsters at all.
"So when their food supplies ran low, the goblins had to expand their hunting grounds until they discovered Naner Village several hours away? That makes sense! What do you think, Army Lady?"
"…Irrelevant to our mission."
Army Lady shot Lvzi a sidelong glance, her tone indifferent.
"Hehe, I suppose such matters would be beyond Army Lady’s simple mind."
"Enough chatter."
The blonde girl delivered another light chop to Lvzi’s head.
"Just estimate their numbers and we’ll depart."
"Fine, fine."
Their rough count revealed about two hundred goblin dwellings.
Assuming each shack housed a dozen goblins, this tribe likely contained over two thousand ordinary goblins!
The Big Goblin tally showed fifty-five currently visible, ranging between low and high Class D, with few reaching Class C strength.
They also observed muscular goblins wielding iron weapons – Goblin Warriors. Though not as massive as Big Goblins, these stood taller than average humans.
Upon appraisal, these warriors proved stronger than Big Goblins, particularly in physical power.
Most ranked as Class D, though some attained low Class C status.
The truly formidable monsters undoubtedly resided within that conspicuously large central hut.
"Can’t see what’s inside."
"With this many goblins, we’d be spotted instantly if we approached."
"Pity. I’m quite curious about what varieties might dwell within."
As they prepared to withdraw—
"If you wish to know, we could investigate."
Stealth Three, who had remained concealed in the shadows, finally spoke up.
"You?"
Army Lady blinked in surprise, having momentarily forgotten about the presence of these rather disagreeable Stealth Ants.
While she’d been grateful for their assistance during the night raid, their passive observation during Lvzi’s "surprise visit" last night had erased what little goodwill remained.
"Ah yes, you’re still here! Heh, curiosity getting the better of you? Or perhaps you’re simply tired of lurking in shadows?"
"I’ll return shortly."
Ignoring Lvzi’s remark, Stealth Three dissolved into shadow, flitting between the darkened spaces of the forest.
By the time she reached the Goblin Tribe, all traces of her presence had vanished completely.
She’d activated her "Invisibility" skill.
Combined with the soundless, scent-masking properties of "Stealth" and its presence-concealing effects, not even these goblins – nor indeed the Class A warriors Red Pupil, Army Lady, or Lvzi – could detect her unless she initiated an attack.
She approached the large wooden shed undetected.
Maintaining her "Hidden Shadow" ability, Stealth Three became little more than a transparent wisp, slipping effortlessly through the shed’s door seam.
After observing the interior, she swiftly retreated back to Army Lady’s shadow.
"Your findings?"
"One Class B lower-tier monster identified as Goblin King, two Class C upper-tier Goblin Wizards, and four Class C mid-tier Goblin Warriors."
"What were they doing inside?"
Army Lady inquired with a puzzled frown.
"Engaging in reproductive activities… much like the goblins at our breeding farms do."
Stealth Three paused meaningfully before delivering this information.
…
Army Lady and Lvzi made their return to Naner Village.
Despite their earlier victory against the goblin forces, both soldiers and adventurers now wore uniformly grim expressions.
"Has something occurred?"
Sensing the shift in atmosphere, Lvzi immediately schooled her features into solemnity. Together with the perpetually serious Army Lady, she approached Lit.
Through Lit’s tightly controlled, anger-laced tones, they learned of recent events.
As Lvzi conversed with Lit, Army Lady’s gaze drifted toward the women seated before the houses – their distended bellies forcing them to wear only coarse cloth wraps, faces blank with resignation.
How tragic…
Pregnancy should herald new life, a joyous occasion for families.
Unbidden, memories of Lin Yu during her pregnancy surfaced, bringing an unconscious smile to Army Lady’s lips.
"Hey, Army Lady, focus."
Lvzi’s elbow jabbed her ribs, snapping her from reverie.
"That’s cruel. They’re suffering terribly, and you’re smiling?"
Lvzi whispered harshly in her ear.
Only then did Army Lady notice Lit’s furious glare.
"This is precisely why you’ve no friends."
"Coming from you, that’s rich…"
After a measured pause, Army Lady addressed Lit directly.
"My apologies. I was lost in thought – not mocking their plight."
"That smile while looking at them… you claim it wasn’t derision? Then what?"
"Merely anticipating the satisfaction when we exterminate those goblins later."
Her icy response gave Lit pause.
"I… see. My apologies for overreacting. Regarding your reconnaissance – what did you discover?"
"You’re lying. You were thinking about mother."
Lvzi murmured under her breath.
Army Lady pointedly ignored her.
Adopting her most professional demeanor, she delivered a concise report to Lit.
She detailed numbers of standard goblins, Big Goblins, and Goblin Warriors, but carefully omitted all intelligence regarding their class rankings.
Such information required the Identification skill to obtain – and revealing possession of Identification to the human race was absolutely out of the question.
