Chapter 198: The Clingy Lvzi
"Got you! Die now!"
A triumphant grin spread across the man’s face as he brought his sword down toward Lvzi with both hands.
Against an adventurer of equal rank, such a strike would have meant instant death or at least severe injuries.
"Tingly… how annoying."
The girl’s voice rang out just as the man’s attack whiffed through empty air, leaving him utterly bewildered.
Even a Class C monster would remain paralyzed for over ten seconds after inhaling those numbing powders—how could she move so quickly?
"You’re actually Class B?!"
"I told you from the start. Why does nobody believe me?"
With those words, the girl flicked her wrist.
Before anyone could blink, the man’s sword-holding arms went flying, splattering blood before thudding to the ground.
"That last attack… you were going for the kill, weren’t you? How mean—I’ve been holding back this whole time, worried I might accidentally finish you off."
"AAAAARGH!!!"
The man wasn’t listening, too busy screaming in agony.
His two companions froze in terror, their fighting spirit shattered.
Even the spectating adventurers and Elena stood stunned for a long moment.
Finally, Elena snapped out of it.
"Winner—Lvzi!"
"Yay! I won, Army Lady!"
Lvzi immediately latched onto Army Lady’s side.
"That was inevitable… Now quit clinging to me!"
"But why? It’s been forever since we met!"
Still glued to Army Lady, Lvzi peered at Elena.
"Miss Clerk, I kinda chopped off both his arms… that’s fine, right?"
"Ah… well, it was a consensual duel…"
Though… he clearly wasn’t "fine" by any definition.
Elena’s gaze flickered to the armless man’s writhing form.
The watching adventurers now regarded Lvzi and Army Lady with newfound reverence.
To crush a Class C adventurer so effortlessly—this green-haired girl truly must be Class B.
After some adventurers hauled away the limbless man, the group returned to the guild’s first floor.
The registration process for Lvzi resumed.
This time, nobody questioned her Class B Adventurer Level.
Even Elena was in rather high spirits.
She hadn’t cared much for those three adventurers who’d been mocking Army Lady either. While not as detestable as Sylvestre’s Wings of Freedom Squad, those three rarely accepted guild commissions and often loitered around spouting unpleasant remarks.
This little hardship served them right – perhaps it would teach them to mind their tongues from now on?
What’s more, the guild had gained a new Class B adventurer. Remarkable – someone so young yet already at B-tier.
The guildmaster would surely be delighted to learn about this new Class B member. Though… knowing that troublesome old man, he’d probably return just to pick a fight. What a nuisance that would be…
"All right, here’s your Adventurer ID."
After completing the registration, Elena took a moment to magically engrave the information onto a gray metal plate before handing it to the girl.
Despite being Class B, Lvzi still had to begin as an E-class adventurer like everyone else.
The green-haired girl thanked her and examined the Adventurer ID with curiosity before suddenly remembering something.
"Does forming an Adventurer Squad require separate registration?"
"Indeed it does."
"Then Miss Elena, Army Lady and I wish to register as a team!"
"Naturally. Though I’ve been curious – did you both come from another town?"
"Ah! Yes indeed! We were partners in an Adventurer Squad back in our previous hometown."
She tactfully avoided naming their former town, and Elena politely refrained from pressing further.
As they completed the squad registration, the conversation flowed pleasantly between them.
Lvzi proved far more sociable than Army Lady, quickly striking up a cheerful rapport with Miss Elena at the counter.
Army Lady observed their interaction in silence.
Though reluctant to admit it, this girl was better at dealing with the human race than she was… and seemed reasonably dependable when not going on about her "mother."
But… they’d been talking entirely too long.
"We should be going, Lvzi."
"Oh! Time for our mission? How wonderful! It’s been ages since we worked together. I’ve missed fighting monsters in the forest with you, Army Lady."
"I certainly haven’t missed it…"
"Now now, no need to be shy about it."
…
They proceeded to the Commission Board to select several tasks.
To advance their Adventurer Levels more quickly, they accepted the commissions under individual names.
With assignments secured, the pair departed the Adventurer’s Guild and stepped into the streets.
"Will you release me now?"
"Not a chance! Honestly Army Lady, after I defended your honor like that? Those adventurers won’t dare badmouth you so brazenly after this! At least not to our faces. And if they do, we’ll just teach them another lesson!"
"I hardly needed your assistance."
Army Lady shot her an exasperated glance.
"You couldn’t have done it properly anyway. You’re only posing as a Class C Adventurer – my Class B status carries far more weight."
Lvzi puffed up with pride.
"Since I helped you, shouldn’t you say ‘Thank you, Sister Lvzi’?"
"I’ll thank you when you let go."
"No way~ Though I must say, human forms are so convenient! We couldn’t link arms like this in our monster forms… And human hugs feel so much nicer too. Like when I embraced Mother before… Heehee…"
"Eek! Not here, don’t—"
At the mention of Lin Yu, Lvzi seemed to slip into some private fantasy, her body growing warm and breath quickening as that familiar erratic behavior threatened to surface.
The sudden change startled Army Lady.
But what truly surprised her was how quickly Lvzi regained composure at her warning.
"You’ve… changed considerably."
"Naturally! Heehee, just wait – soon I’ll be able to meet Mother without fainting!"
"Is that so… Then why must you cling to me so?"
Army Lady privately noted they’d never been this close before.
"Actually… Sister Red Pupil once told me we’re Mother’s possessions – part of her very being."
Lvzi suddenly whispered close to Army Lady’s ear.
"Loving Mother… is really no different from loving our sisters."
"!!!"
Later…
To maximize mission efficiency, Army Lady insisted they complete their assignments separately.
