Chapter 179: As Long as You’re Adorable, Even a Pervert Would Be Fine…
Martina writhed desperately in the quagmire that held her captive.
During her struggle, Dig One made a single powerful leap and landed directly before the scarred woman.
The ant pressed its forelimbs against the woman’s skull, effectively trapping her deeper in the viscous mud.
Enraged by Dig One’s actions, the woman swung her dagger with furious abandon.
The initial strikes merely glanced off Dig One’s armored limbs, but then Martina activated some skill – her blade began shimmering with an eerie pale glow.
When the enchanted dagger connected this time, it finally left its mark.
A thin, precise incision appeared on Dig One’s forelimb.
The subtle sting of the wound provoked Dig One to raise its limb and deliver a crushing blow to Martina’s head with a resounding SMACK.
The impact drove the woman face-first into the mud, leaving her dazed and thoroughly coated in foul-smelling sludge.
"They’re trying to flee."
Dig One turned to consult Dig Two.
"Should we follow Sister’s orders? Sever their legs?"
"Affirmative. Proceed."
Dig Two nodded firmly while maintaining her crushing weight on Sylvestre, whose face twisted in utter despair.
Though he’d attempted escape simultaneously with Martina, Sylvestre’s inferior skills meant Dig Two had pinned him instantly upon landing.
His frantic struggles proved futile against the ant’s immense strength, only succeeding in lacerating his back against Dig Two’s serrated limbs. Further movement would undoubtedly worsen the wounds.
Helpless, he lay motionless, forced to witness Martina’s predicament with the other ochre-colored ant.
Then came the horrific moment: Dig One’s limbs hooked Martina’s garments, yanking her from the mire before positioning its mandibles above her thighs—
CRUNCH.
Martina’s bloodcurdling shriek pierced the air as her legs were severed cleanly above the knees.
"AAAAHHH!! Wh-what kind of demons are you?!"
Terror flooded the man’s eyes.
Damn it all!
They’ll kill me! Possibly devour me alive! Must escape! Now—
He thrashed violently, each movement deepening his back wounds as crimson rivulets streamed down.
Suddenly, the oppressive weight lifted.
Sylvestre didn’t question his fortune – survival instinct screamed at him to flee.
Yet when he scrambled upright, his body locked in paralyzed horror.
Not from lack of will, but from hopeless realization…
Before him, behind him, surrounding completely – a dozen Earth Digging Ants and scores of Weak Ants had formed an impenetrable ring around their prey.
Only one chance remained: the teleportation crystal. That magical artifact could whisk him five hundred meters to safety in an instant.
This type of Magic Crystal is said to be available at the Engraving Shop in the inner city district.
However, due to its exorbitant price and limited availability, Sylvestre and his teammates had never brought themselves to purchase any, having instead allocated all their funds toward weapons and armor.
In his moment of despair, a pair of massive mandibles emerged from behind and severed his legs before he could even react.
"AAAAAHHHH!!!"
The excruciating pain nearly drowned out all coherent thought.
…
"This should suffice."
"It’ll still take a while to return to the castle—we should keep moving."
"Do you think Mother will praise us if we successfully bring them back?"
"Mother likely isn’t even aware of this yet."
Chattering incessantly, Dig One and Dig Two clamped their powerful jaws around the two weakened adventurers, whose broken legs had left them feeble, and hoisted them onto the backs of two other Earth Digging Ant sisters.
Among the Earth Digging Ants assigned to "escort" the two human adventurers, aside from these two Class B ants, the rest were max-level Class C ants with C Qualification. These lower-ranked ants lacked speech capabilities and typically only followed direct orders.
The two human adventurers appeared to have surrendered to their fate, lying motionless atop the ants’ carapaces.
Blood continued to seep from their severed limbs, but given their higher levels, their robust constitutions would likely stem the bleeding before long, allowing the wounds to gradually heal.
"These monsters don’t seem intent on killing us," Martina observed grimly, having finally regained her composure as she studied the surrounding ant colony.
"Then what do they want? Where are they taking us?"
"Hard to say, but I suspect it’s connected to that woman."
"But she’s only Class C—how could she command such powerful ants to attack us?"
Baffled and uneasy, they could only watch as the procession pressed onward.
The journey from town to Granville Monster Forest was considerable—even by oxcart, traveling dawn till dusk would require seven or eight days.
Though Earth Digging Ants moved far swifter than lumbering oxcarts, reaching Foggy Castle within a single day remained impossible.
Moreover, to avoid detection by travelers, Dig One and Dig Two deliberated briefly before altering their itinerary.
They resolved to march by night, spending most daylight hours resting in anthills along the route.
…
Meanwhile, elsewhere…
Within Foggy Castle,
Lin Yu was in excellent spirits.
After finishing off numerous wounded monsters in the dungeon’s first basement level yesterday, she’d finally leveled up from LV.2 to LV.3!
Magic Value completely replenished!
Now… how should she utilize this fully restored Magic Value?
I’d actually already made up my mind.
Half of the Magic Value will be devoted to granting.
First, I’ll bestow the "Transformation" skill upon Lvzi.
After all, she’s next in line, and this girl has been pestering me endlessly about becoming human.
If the Magic Value replenishes this time but I don’t grant it to her, I just know she’ll come crying to me…
Ugh… merely picturing it makes my ears ring…
Still, I’m a little curious about what Lvzi will look like as a human.
Both Red Pupil and Army Lady became lovely, adorable girls after their transformations—and if you look closely, they even resemble me a bit.
Following that logic, once Lvzi turns human, she should inherit this maiden’s beauty and become a cute girl too, right?
As long as she’s pretty, even if she’s a weirdo…
My mind conjured an image of Lvzi as a gorgeous girl, drooling with a lecherous grin as she lunges at me.
Something about that feels… off.
Anyway, this time, the "Transformation" skill is hers.
As for the remaining half of the Magic Value…
Originally, I planned to finally do *that* after so long.
But I’ve got a slightly bolder idea to test.
Back when I possessed Army Lady, skills like "Proficient in all Languages," "Magic Backpack," "Sword Talent," and "Swordsmanship Master" could all be activated through her body.
So what would happen if I used "Lay Eggs" while possessing someone?
Time to find out~
As for the test subject…
Army Lady’s out of the question—she’s busy in a human race town right now.
That leaves Red Pupil or the soon-to-be-human Lvzi.
Wait, does it *have* to be someone who can transform?
Who cares!
This is purely a skill experiment, okay? Absolutely *not* a reflection of my personal quirks!
