Chapter 168: Collecting, Anything Can Be Collected
The prerequisite for an individual adventurer to accept multiple commissions is obtaining the guild’s approval. Should they fail to complete the tasks or take excessive time, their personal evaluation within the guild would be negatively affected.
With the exception of some peculiar requests, Army Lady could effortlessly accomplish most commissions displayed on the Commission Board. To avoid revealing her formidable capabilities, the optimal approach would be for Army Lady to accept several commissions simultaneously.
Now, which commissions should she select?
Lin Yu’s gaze methodically swept across the Commission Board.
Though she longed to choose higher-level commissions, Army Lady’s current E-rank adventurer status restricted her to only E and D difficulty tasks. This limitation immediately reduced her available options by nearly half.
After further eliminating the simplest E-difficulty tasks with meager rewards, the selection diminished even more. Among the remaining D-difficulty commissions, while escort missions offered generous compensation, they demanded excessive time. Extermination quests proved simpler with decent rewards, but accepting multiple would prove troublesome – requiring travel to various monster habitats and potentially lengthy waiting periods or searches.
The most suitable choice would undoubtedly be Collection Commissions.
——
Commission: Collect Red Fruit (Long-term)
Difficulty Level: D
Reward: 1-3 small silver coins per fruit (final price determined by quality)
Description: We’ll accept any quantity as long as the fruits aren’t spoiled.
Client: Pharmacist Manfel
——
Perfect! This is ideal!
I possess abundant red fruits.
Over the past three years, extensive red fruit orchards have been cultivated within each ant colony’s Hundred Fruit Garden. Planted in Magical Soil, these trees remain perpetually viable. Consequently, despite the fruit’s lengthy growth cycle, three years of cultivation have yielded an inexhaustible surplus.
Daily, significant quantities of red fruits are consumed by the daughters as lunch, dinner, or snacks – after all, leaving them unattended would lead to spoilage. While the alternate dimension provides storage space for red fruits, its capacity remains limited.
Thus, the young woman extended her hand and retrieved the "Collect Red Fruit" Commission Order.
Now, onward to the next Collection Commission.
——
Commission: Collect Granville Wolf Skin
Difficulty Level: D
Reward: 5 small silver coins to 1 silver coin per pelt (price contingent upon quality and completeness)
Description: Approximately twenty Granville Wolf Skins required. Final quantity subject to inspection.
Client: Blacksmith Wali
——
Granville Wolves typically range between no rank and Class D, with a few reaching Class C, though such cases are rare.
Within the ant den, aside from the resting quarters for the ant tribe, there are two other types of rooms: the Herb Garden and storage chambers for various spoils.
Advanced monster materials are kept in the castle’s underground material warehouse, while lower-grade monster materials are stored in these differently sized storage rooms.
Over the past three years, a considerable number of Granville Wolf pelts have been accumulated in the ant den, and now is the time to make use of them.
The den also houses many other low-level monster materials, and corresponding Collection Commissions are posted on the Commission Board.
Thus, three additional Class D commissions were selected:
– "Commission: Collect yellow boar tusks and pelts"
– "Commission: Gather goblin artifacts"
– "Commission: Obtain fresh mountain deer meat"
These are all common monsters found in Granville Forest.
Five commissions should suffice.
"What commissions did Sister Army Lady take?"
The young boy and girl approached the Commission Board curiously.
"Just these."
Lin Yu handed the five Commission Orders to Sally.
"Wow! Five commissions? That’s quite a lot!"
The two boys flanked Sally, peering at the Commission Orders.
"And they’re all Collection Commissions."
"Ah, collecting red fruit? Is Sister Army Lady really taking this one? Red Fruit Trees are incredibly rare, and even if you find one, it might not bear fruit. And if it does, other monsters usually get to the fruit first."
Will sounded genuinely surprised by Lin Yu’s choice.
"Considering those factors, the red fruit commission is significantly harder than the other four. Sister Army Lady should think carefully."
"Exactly! The more commissions an adventurer accepts, the stricter the guild’s evaluation becomes," Mayer chimed in eagerly.
"If Sister Army Lady takes on five commissions, she’ll have to complete all five. Failing even one would drastically lower her guild rating."
"I’m confident," Lin Yu replied.
After a brief pause, she added, "I once spent time in the Granville Monster Forest and located two Red Fruit Trees. They should be fruiting soon."
Hearing her certainty, the trio dropped their objections.
Lin Yu then carried the five Commission Orders to the guild counter.
She laid them out neatly on the countertop.
"I’d like to accept these commissions."
…
Nasha, who had just breathed a sigh of relief after attending to a group of clients, froze in surprise.
"Accepting five commissions at once?"
"Mhm."
"Erm… may I ask which adventurer you are? Could you please show your Adventurer ID? The Adventurer’s Guild requires us to check an adventurer’s past evaluation records when accepting multiple commissions simultaneously."
"My apologies, I’m a relatively new clerk here, so I haven’t familiarized myself with all the adventurers yet…"
The clerk named Nasha appeared somewhat flustered.
"Sister Army Lady is also a new adventurer, Nasha."
Sally chimed in to explain.
"Army Lady… Ah! You must be the new adventurer who registered last night?"
"That’s correct."
"I… I heard about you this morning. You…"
Nasha suddenly dropped her voice to a whisper.
"You defeated that Wings of Freedom Squad, didn’t you?"
"Indeed."
"That’s… that’s incredible…"
She gasped in awe before turning to Lin Yu with grateful eyes.
"Then I should thank you as well."
Noticing Lin Yu’s puzzled expression, she continued:
"Sylvestre… that man you severely injured… When I first started working here, he harassed me. Had I not threatened to report him to the guildmaster, I might have…"
Nasha shuddered at the memory.
"Anyway, I’m so glad you taught him a lesson."
"They provoked us first."
Lin Yu paused briefly before gesturing toward the five Commission Orders on the counter.
"Could you help me register these?"
"Certainly!"
Nasha immediately agreed, no longer insisting on checking the Adventurer ID.
Just as she began processing the paperwork, the doors of the Adventurer’s Guild swung open again.
A man carrying a longbow on his back entered.
Lin Yu recognized him immediately – it was Lean, the archer from the Wings of Freedom Squad that she and Army Lady had previously defeated.
