Chapter 139: The Capable Daughter

Let’s rewind to an earlier moment.

As Lin Yu and a group of ants departed from the bedroom.

Inside the bedroom.

Magic Rainbow observed Little Liquor with a calm demeanor as she entered the room and introduced herself with an air of familiarity.

"Are you Sister Worker Liquor?"

"Yes! But you can call me Sister Little Liquor. As for this one hiding behind me—"

Little Liquor struggled a bit to drag Weak Sound out from her hiding spot.

"This is Weak Sound; we hatched at the same time."

"H-hello…"

After uttering this, Little Weak Ant quickly retreated behind Little Liquor again.

"So you’re Sister Weak Sound? You’re quite adorable."

"A-adorable? Me?"

Upon hearing the compliment, she timidly peeked out from behind Little Liquor.

"She’s just an odd one; if it’s about being cute, I certainly won’t be outdone by her."

Little Liquor snorted and shifted her gaze to the other side.

"By the way, who is she?"

"That’s Darkling Stalker; she hatched with me, but she’s not much of a talker."

"Oh, so Sister Darkling Stalker is as quiet as Sister Stealth Three."

Little Liquor turned her gaze back to Magic Rainbow and whispered.

"Was Mom really not angry when she was in the bedroom earlier?"

"Angry? Of course not."

Magic Rainbow shook her head.

"Mom was just busy testing a skill in the bedroom."

"Testing a skill?"

"Exactly, it’s the ‘transformation’ skill, which allows us to turn into humans."

"Ah, I know about that skill! I’ve been hearing my sisters discuss it over the past few days; everyone is speculating who Mom will bestow this skill upon next."

At this point, Little Liquor became quite animated.

"That sounds wonderful! I want to become human too."

"Me too!"

They had only hatched a day before I did, so their knowledge was limited; perhaps even less than mine.

If that’s the case…

Magic Rainbow murmured to herself, then continued the conversation.

"By the way, do Sister Little Liquor and Sister Weak Sound prefer how Mom looked when she was part of the human race or when she was in the ant tribe?"

"We like both! But if we really have to choose one… then it would be how she looked during the human race!"

"Just like me."

Magic Rainbow’s gaze shifted to Little Liquor behind her.

"What about Sister Weak Sound?"

"I, I feel the same way."

"And Darkling Stalker?"

She then turned her gaze to the silent gray ant.

Darkling Stalker gave her a cold glance and did not respond.

"Darkling Stalker feels the same way; when she saw Mom’s human appearance, her reaction was even stronger than mine."

Though ignored, Magic Rainbow was not upset.

"Actually, Mom is like us; compared to her ant form, she also prefers her human appearance."

"Oh? Is that so?"

"Yes, sister might not have asked Mom, so she doesn’t know."

She paused, then continued.

"Earlier, in the bedroom, Mom mentioned that she once had contact with a little girl named Jilly, a human, and helped her level up in the forest."

"Mom may like the little girl version of the human race—Sister Red Pupil might have considered this when she transformed into a young girl."

"Oh… is that so?"

"This is just my sister’s guess. But it feels like we are a step behind."

"A step behind?"

Little Liquor was momentarily taken aback, then understood.

"It does seem that way… Sister Red Pupil not only was born early, but now she has also become the little girl that Mom likes the most…"

"So we need to try even harder."

Seeing Little Liquor’s mood start to drop, Magic Rainbow suddenly spoke up.

"We actually all hatched around the same time, so let’s cheer each other on?"

She stretched out her front legs.

"A handshake?"

Looking at Magic Rainbow’s outstretched front legs, Little Liquor thought for a moment before realizing.

"Hmm!"

She also stretched out her front legs and placed them on top.

Then, as if she had thought of something, she turned around and pulled Weak Sound out from behind her, then took one of her front legs and placed it together.

Immediately, three pairs of eyes turned to the gray ant behind them.

Darkling Stalker glanced at them indifferently, offering no response.

The three ants had no choice but to temporarily abandon their attempt to recruit Darkling Stalker into their group.

They continued chatting for a while, with most of the conversation revolving around Lin Yu.

Since Magic Rainbow had just learned about most of Lin Yu’s experiences over the past three years, she naturally took the lead in the conversation.

Gradually, the three ants began to look to Magic Rainbow as their de facto leader.

Throughout their chat, they made sure to include the silent Darkling Stalker, exchanging a few words with her to avoid making her feel isolated. Over time, the usually reserved and distant Darkling Stalker began to respond occasionally.

…

"Oh, I almost forgot! Mom asked me to show you around the castle."

In the midst of their lively conversation, Little Liquor finally remembered the important task.

"Sister Magic Rainbow, let’s go!"

After some time chatting, Little Liquor and Weak Sound had already shifted from calling her "Sister Magic Rainbow" to simply "Sister Magic Rainbow."

At first, Magic Rainbow resisted the title, but after Little Liquor’s persistent insistence, she eventually accepted being called "sister."

During this period, both Magic Rainbow and Darkling Stalker’s bodies continued to grow until they reached full maturity.

Their bodies were similar in size to those of the Military Ants, but significantly larger compared to Little Liquor and Weak Sound.

"Then I’ll trouble you, Little Liquor, sister."

Magic Rainbow then called over the quiet Darkling Stalker, and the four ants left the bedroom to begin exploring the entire Fourth Ant Nest, including the castle.

…

…

Meanwhile.

On the other side, utilizing the enhancements from "Sword Talent" and "Swordsmanship Master," Lin Yu crafted several cylindrical bathtubs and half-cylindrical basins from the trunks of felled trees.

Since the otherworldly space couldn’t accommodate so many wooden bathtubs, she summoned the nearest patrol team, Team Ant, to assist with the transportation.

When Lin Yu returned to the castle riding Stealth One, she noticed a small group of shiny black ants gathered at the castle gate from a distance.

It was Army Lady and her Team Ant, who had just returned.

"Mom… Mommy?"

From afar, Army Lady froze at the sight of the white-haired, red-eyed girl riding Stealth One.

This… What a sight…

Though she had often imagined what Lin Yu, a member of the human race, might look like during battles, rest periods, and even in her dreams, she realized how limited her imagination had been upon seeing her in person.

"You’ve returned."

Lin Yu nodded coolly at her, glancing Army Lady up and down.

It felt like it had been a while since she last saw Army Lady. She was covered in blood, as if she had just emerged from a battle.

"Oh, right! Mom, I captured two Class A monsters with Military One and the others."

Hearing Lin Yu’s words, Army Lady finally snapped out of her daze.

She quickly gestured with her front leg toward what lay behind her.

Following her direction, Lin Yu’s gaze fell upon two monsters in the castle hall, their limbs severed and bodies riddled with wounds.

Upon identification, they were confirmed to be two lower-level Class A monsters.

They had captured two more critically injured Class A monsters! What a capable daughter; it felt like they were one step closer to an upgrade.

But… judging by their condition…

"Where are you all heading now?"

"To clean off the blood, and then continue the hunt…"
