That’s right—after killing the yellow-haired boar, the captain ant leveled up!
It’s now stronger than me…
Mom is very proud! Totally not jealous at all!
Jumping three levels, its HP rose from 30 to 50, and it gained +1 Intelligence.
With Intelligence came MP, increasing from 0 to 10.
But without skills, both Intelligence and MP were useless…
What a waste! If only I could take them instead!
Once the meat was mostly transported back, Lin Yu left several injured [Weak Ants] in the anthill and formed a new 20-ant squad to retrieve the rest of the boar’s carcass.
However, they were too late.
Just as the ants approached the location, Lin Yu, watching through a D-Aptitude [Weak Ant], ordered them to stop.
She left the LV.7 captain ant in the anthill—no need to risk the strongest member on a simple retrieval mission.
Originally, there was no need to bring this D-Aptitude [Weak Ant], but if they encountered small creatures like slimes, it could farm experience.
She planned to prioritize training her two “gifted” daughters.
***
Lin Yu heard chewing noises.
The sound came from where the boar carcass had been.
Meaning…
SOMETHING IS STEALING OUR FOOD!
Controlling a [Weak Ant], she silently approached.
Once past the grass, she finally saw the culprits.
A pack of seven gray-furred wolves.
They were far larger than the [Weak Ants], nearly half the size of the yellow-haired boar. Their muscular bodies and sharp fangs were clearly built for ripping through flesh.
The largest wolf, the alpha, was noticeably bigger and scarred, with a deep claw mark across its face.
The remaining boar meat had already been mostly devoured.
These guys look tough…
Can we win? No, absolutely not.
Damn it! We worked so hard to get that meat!
Fine! I’ll remember this! You’ll pay for it someday!
After glancing at the wolves with resentment, Lin Yu ordered the ants to retreat.
Luckily, the wolves didn’t notice them—probably thanks to the lingering scent of the boar’s blood, masking the ants’ presence.
Many of the [Weak Ants] still carried the scent of the previous battle, which might have disguised them.
However…
As the ants moved away, the wolves finished their meal.
The alpha wolf lifted its head, sniffing the air.
Sniff, sniff…
A moment later—
“Awoooooo!”
It howled, then charged in the ants’ direction!
One by one, the other wolves followed, stopping occasionally to sniff out the trail.
The chase was on.
The ants weren’t as fast as wolves, but Lin Yu had acted in time.
Hearing the howl, she immediately ordered them to sprint.
By the time the wolves reached the base of the hill, the ants had already entered the cave.
WHAT THE HELL?!
You stole our food and STILL chased us?! How shameless can you be?!
While the ants retreated into the anthill, Lin Yu angrily waved her front legs.
As the last two ants sealed the entrance with sand, a pair of beastly eyes suddenly appeared right in front of them!
“Chiiiii!!!”
Watching through the [Weak Ant]’s perspective, Lin Yu nearly jumped out of her shell.
In the next instant, a wolf’s massive paw smashed through the entrance, blowing away the dirt barrier!
The two front-line ants took the full force of the impact!

They lost 10 HP in one hit.
I was right… These wolves aren’t stronger than the boar, but they’re still far beyond what the [Weak Ants] can handle!
Phew…
Good thing we didn’t widen the entrance further!
The wolf clawed at the entrance, but the long tunnel made it impossible to dig through immediately.
Even better, while they clawed at the entrance, the ants could narrow the passage further.
In a tight underground fight, maybe they could turn the tables.
Heh, size isn’t always an advantage!
‘Come on, try biting me!’
As if understanding the taunt, the wolf thrust its head inside, snapping its jaws wildly.
But—it couldn’t reach the ants.
Pfft! You chased us all the way here and can’t even touch us? How pathetic! Haha!
Despite mocking the wolf in her mind, Lin Yu instinctively backed away.
She had returned to her [Ant Queen] body for one reason:
[Identify]!
[Identify] Successful.

[Granville Wolf]: A common low-tier predator in the Granville Monster Forest.

It’s strong…
Stat-wise, it was about the same as my mother when she was alive.
And there are six more of them.
Yeah, there’s no way we can win.
Good thing we ran!
Also… Granville Monster Forest?
So that’s where we are…
As Lin Yu analyzed the wolf’s status, another noise came from outside.
A few wolf howls, followed by—
A deep, earth-shaking roar.
Hearing it, Lin Yu’s entire body stiffened.
The bear was back.
