Chapter 126: "Master of Battle"
Upon returning to the third floor of the castle, Lin Yu, as was her custom, made her way to the balcony.
The balcony was expansive.
She drew the long sword from the other space.
Was she going to practice her sword skills?
Hmm…
Never mind, after all, her daughters captured weakened monsters daily, and dispatching these creatures was far less troublesome than practicing with the sword.
Moreover, the Experience Value gained from them surpassed that of sword practice.
After a moment’s consideration, she sheathed the sword once more.
She settled into the wooden chair on the balcony.
Reflecting on how, just a few days prior, she had sat here enjoying afternoon tea in her ant form, she felt a wave of nostalgia.
From the other space, she retrieved a large wooden barrel of tea and a wooden cup.
She poured herself a cup of tea.
As she sipped her tea, she shifted her focus to Red Pupil.
…
The little girl led the way, with a green ant trailing behind her.
"Sister Red Pupil doesn’t seem quite accustomed to walking on two legs yet, does she?"
"Hmm?"
Noticing her misstep, the little girl quietly corrected her gait.
"Sister, why not ride Lvzi?"
"No need."
"Just give it a try, hee hee…"
The little girl glanced back at the green ant, which was drooling behind her.
"That would only slow us down further."
With that, she paid no more heed and quickened her pace.
Along the path, they encountered several Class D and Class C monsters, all of which the little girl dispatched with ease using just a punch.
Over the past three years of hunting, the monsters in the Fog Zone had come to recognize these ant monsters.
While they might not distinguish between other ants of similar size, the massive Iron Armored Ant was unmistakable to them.
Upon sighting the large ant, their instinct was to flee—a deeply ingrained response among these lower-level monsters.
However, after her transformation, the Iron Armored Ant now resembled a little girl…
The monsters, meant to flee at the sight of her, were instead deceived by her diminutive appearance, mistaking her for a weak monster. Thus, they boldly emerged from the fog to attack Red Pupil, with predictable outcomes.
Yet, as the little girl dealt with the oncoming monsters, she also had to contend with the "ambush" from behind.
Sister Red Pupil, I’ll help you!
Every time she killed a monster and allowed herself a moment of relaxation, Lvzi would pounce on her from behind.
At first, it was so unexpected that Lvzi actually managed to catch her off guard.
She ended up covered in quite a bit of saliva…
Just as the little girl, her face darkening, raised her hand to deliver a smack, the green ant looked almost excited, her eyes gleaming.
If she reached out to hit her, it might only encourage Lvzi to cling even tighter.
Red Pupil was at a loss with her.
They then arrived at the northern area, near where Class A Monsters were known to appear. This was primarily the territory of Class B Monsters, and if they were lucky, they might even stumble upon a Class A Monster.
And so, the hunt began.
The young girl could easily scale trees to scout from above.
As for combat, her smaller size made her more agile and nimble, though her attack range was limited, and her destructive power couldn’t match that of her Iron Armored Ant form.
Her strength and agility remained unchanged, but when facing certain larger monsters, while a single punch might shatter their defenses, her entire arm could easily become lodged inside the monster’s body.
If she failed to defeat the monster in one strike, it could lead to some complications.
Moreover, fighting in the young girl’s form made it easier for her to become smeared with monster blood and flesh, especially when dealing with larger monsters. Often, by the end of a battle, she’d be covered in blood, monster fluids, and even the stench of organs.
The more this happened, the dirtier she became.
The soiled clothes left Red Pupil visibly displeased.
What’s more, the stench of blood and gore masked the lingering scent of Lin Yu on her, causing Lvzi’s attitude to grow noticeably colder.
“Sister, hunting with two ants is too inefficient. Let’s split up.”
She even went so far as to suggest this.
…
After Red Pupil and Lvzi parted ways, and Lin Yu could no longer observe the interactions between the two ants, she stopped paying attention to them.
She shifted her gaze elsewhere.
Her focus turned to Military Eleven.
“Ah, Mom, Mommy?!”
“You’re in the middle of a hunt. Keep your voice down.”
“Okay, okay!”
Military Eleven and a few other Military Ants were concealed in the grass, forming a loose circle around a bear-like monster in the center.
It was a saber-toothed brown bear, though it appeared larger than any they’d seen before. Its thick hide seemed incredibly tough, gleaming with a metallic sheen under the sunlight.
The saber-toothed brown bear was feasting on a giant snake, seemingly having just finished a battle with it. However, it bore only minor wounds.
Lin Yu guessed that this saber-toothed brown bear was Class B, and likely of a high level.
The bear panted heavily, its eyes darting warily around, but the Military Ants remained well-hidden, avoiding detection.
After a moment of finding no disturbances, it lowered its head to eat. While devouring its meal, it occasionally glanced around, but its hunger was undeniable. After a few bites, it relaxed and focused entirely on the snake meat.
And just then!
Through Military Eleven’s perspective, Lin Yu saw a glossy black Military Ant dart forward.
It was Army Lady.
She sprang up from behind the saber-toothed bear, creating a disturbance that drew the monster’s attention, and then shot out like a shadow at incredible speed.
In an instant, she was beneath the saber-toothed bear’s belly.
The belly and the groin were the saber-toothed bear’s two vulnerable spots, and Lin Yu was well aware of this.
Go on, finish it!
The sight of the saber-toothed bear filled her with rage.
At that moment, the saber-toothed bear had just paused its meal and raised its head, when a sharp pain from its belly caused it to let out a piercing howl, and the snake meat it hadn’t yet swallowed fell to the ground.
But before it could recover from the pain and react, a pair of enormous black jaws suddenly appeared, piercing through its belly and emerging from its back.
The Health Value of the Long-toothed Brown Bear plummeted after that strike, its eyes glazed over, and it swayed unsteadily, on the verge of collapse.
Seeing this, Army Lady deactivated part of the "Magnification" of the jaws and leapt out from under the Long-toothed Brown Bear’s belly.
As she leapt out, the Long-toothed Brown Bear’s body thudded to the ground, and Army Lady stepped forward, thrusting her front limb into the monster’s massive left eye.
Squelch—
Her front limb nearly disappeared into the Long-toothed Brown Bear’s eye socket, and in the next moment, the bear ceased its struggles and fell silent.
The entire battle lasted mere seconds, executed with precision and efficiency.
The Long-toothed Brown Bear had no opportunity to mount any defense before it perished.
…
Truly befitting of Army Lady, her combat remains as seamless and decisive as ever, and it always seems she has grown stronger.
Lin Yu instinctively glanced at Army Lady’s Attribute Panel.
Huh?!
She has advanced to Class A?!
That was incredibly swift! Even Red Pupil is still at Class B, level 39. How did she level up? It’s only been a few days…
The new skill she acquired upon reaching Class A is…
"Battle Master": Upon entering battle mode, all attributes are enhanced, and the power of all skills is increased.
So remarkable…
Although the magnitude of the enhancement remains unclear, this skill, like "Ability to Fight," is a passive skill!
