Chapter 12: Coming Home Loaded!
Even though the yellow-haired boar desperately struggled to free itself from the tree, its curved horn was lodged too tightly. It couldn’t pull free, and its furious roars echoed through the area.
Perfect opportunity!
‘Charge in and finish it off!’
Losing your mind because your child was killed? How naive. Still, you’re a good mother. Don’t worry—I’ll make this quick for you!
Excitement surged through me.
Why? Because this is a massive amount of meat! And experience points!
A beast this big has to be worth a lot of XP!
At her command, the [Weak Ants] swarmed in, their black mandibles snapping shut on the boar’s hide.
They bit down, but… only managed to pierce the outer layer. Anything deeper was beyond their strength.
The pain made the boar thrash even more violently. Though its horn remained trapped, its hooves kicked wildly, sending two [Weak Ants] flying.

Are you kidding me?! One hit nearly halved their HP?!
They could barely bite through its hide…
We have to end this fast—if it breaks free, we’re doomed.
Lin Yu ordered the ants to climb onto its back and attack from above!
Because of the boar’s constant thrashing, some ants were thrown off, but this time, they only lost a few HP each.
Since the boar’s back was small, only four ants could attack at a time, while the others waited their turn.
Without being able to use [Identify], Lin Yu couldn’t see its exact stats, but judging from the patches of red-stained fur, they were doing some damage.
The battle dragged on for three minutes, and by then, the other ant squad arrived.
Lin Yu had ordered them to rush over the moment the boar appeared.
Seeing more enemies, the boar struggled even harder.
But its strength was fading.
Lin Yu breathed a sigh of relief.
It’s over. You can’t escape!
‘Finish it, Captain Ant!’
The designated temporary squad leader, the D-Aptitude [Weak Ant], leaped onto the boar’s back.
Its mandibles clamped down hard.
The boar’s already shredded back couldn’t withstand it anymore—the flesh tore open.
“SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!”
The boar let out an agonized wail, trying desperately to shake off the captain ant.
But the mandibles had sunk deep into its muscles, making it impossible to dislodge.
After ten more seconds, its struggles weakened.
Seizing the moment, the rest of the ants pounced.
Twenty-one sets of jaws bit down hard.
With no strength left, the boar could only watch helplessly as its wounds multiplied, its blood spilling onto the ground…
At first, the pain surged like waves, but then…
Numbness.
Right before it died, it turned its head, locking its blood-red eyes onto the captain ant.
To the ant, it meant nothing.
But to Lin Yu, watching through the ant’s eyes, the moment was unsettling.
Then, with a final thud, the boar collapsed.
For a moment, Lin Yu didn’t know how to feel.
For food, she had killed the piglet.
For revenge, the boar came after them.
And for survival, she had killed the mother too.
…A mother, huh?
She looked at the injured [Weak Ants], then at the boar’s lifeless eyes.
If my ants were killed, would I have fought to avenge them, just like you?
Sorry…
She wasn’t sure if she was apologizing to the boar or to the ants.
…
The moment passed.
Now, it was time for butchering.
The ants dismembered the boar, a process just as grisly as before.
Even after watching them feast on her mother, Lin Yu still felt sick.
The stench of blood grew stronger, but there was no choice—they had to move the meat.
The boar was huge. Even with 21 ants carrying as much as they could, they still left behind a large chunk of meat, organs, fur, and bones.
They’d have to make a second trip.
Lin Yu decided to head back first.
This haul was more than enough, and the ants were covered in blood, which could attract predators.
Once they brought back the rest of the boar’s remains, today’s exploration mission would be over.
***
The ants marched back, hauling meat nearly their own size.
While they traveled, Lin Yu sent a [Weak Ant] ahead to the cave entrance to check for the bear.
If the bear hadn’t returned, all was well.
But if it had, things would get complicated.
Ten minutes passed.
The bear hadn’t returned, and the exploration team appeared at the base of the hill.
Lin Yu ordered the ants inside the anthill to widen the entrance, making it easier to bring the meat inside.
Actually, while the exploration team was out, the nine ants left in the anthill had been busy.
Since the bear had left, Lin Yu had ordered them to expand the cave.
As expected of ants, they were natural diggers. Despite widening the anthill, the ceiling remained stable.
Still, expansion had limits—after tripling the size, they had hit the limit. Any further and the dirt might collapse.
However, digging a new tunnel was an option.
Through tunnels, they could create additional chambers, like an actual ant colony.
But that was a long-term project.
Aside from expansion, they also widened the main tunnel leading to the entrance.
The excess dirt was carefully disposed of near the cave entrance.
Lin Yu had them remove the foul-smelling dirt first—the areas soaked with her mother’s rotting fluids.
The air immediately felt fresher, though she wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination.
***
As the exploration team began unloading meat, Lin Yu finally relaxed.
A successful hunt!
‘You all did great today.’
‘Good job, everyone.’
She reached out, gently patting the head of a passing [Weak Ant], praising them for their hard work.
During the battle, the final strike had been delivered by the D-Aptitude, Strength +1 Captain Ant.
No—technically, she herself had delivered the finishing blow, through the captain ant.
If anyone was going to kill that mother boar, it had to be her.
That was why, at the final moment, she had made sure to sink its mandibles even deeper into the boar’s back.
