Chapter 1: I Have Become the Queen Ant!
My head hurts… a lot.
Hmm, hitting my head would definitely hurt.
I must have fainted after falling, right? Uh, and I also had a strange dream.
But honestly… what is happening now?
It’s so dark; I can’t see anything. And it feels so tight…
It’s like I’m trapped in a sack and tied up with layers of rope.
Wait, a kidnapping?!
Well, I am considered the school beauty, and my family is wealthy, so it wouldn’t be surprising if someone targeted me. Ah!
Anyway, I must quickly think of a way to escape.
Lin Yu began to struggle against the “sack” trapping her.
She heard a pop.
It sounded like cracking an egg, and something fell to the ground.
Lin Yu hadn’t expected that with just a little effort, the “sack” would open up so easily.
Phew… it seems that what trapped her wasn’t a sack after all.
As this thought crossed her mind, she continued to wrestle free from the mysterious object holding her.
Pat… pat… patter…
The sound kept echoing as she struggled.
Finally, she broke open the mysterious object.
Lin Yu felt a wave of relief as her body stretched out fully.
Limbs… All her limbs…
Lin Yu instinctively stretched her body—and then froze.
The movement of her body felt… strange.
Something was different from before.
She instinctively tried to look at herself.
It was still very dark, and she couldn’t see a thing.
Even after breaking free from the mysterious object, everything around her remained pitch-black.
A basement? A small, dark room?
But the feeling under her feet… Was that sand?
Gritty sand that stung a little…
Wait. Do I have… too many feet?
One, two, three… six feet?
Phew—
Calm down. I have to stay calm.
Wahhh! I can’t stay calm!!!
Six feet.
That’s not human.
It’s not even an animal!
Oh no…
I’ve turned into an insect!!
…
Right now, the situation must be that trendy kind of time travel… No, it’s more like being reborn.
Reborn as an insect.
Since it’s a rebirth, that means I’ve already died once.
Huh?
I fell to my death?!
I just slipped and fell a little! How could that kill me?!
It took Lin Yu several minutes to calm down.
In that time, she realized something strange.
She wasn’t sure if her eyes were adapting to the darkness or if her insect body naturally had night vision, but she was gradually beginning to see her surroundings more clearly.
First, the mysterious object that had trapped her was actually an insect egg, now reduced to a pile of broken shells.
Lin Yu’s gaze shifted from the broken shell to the left, where she suddenly spotted a massive creature with a pair of giant jaws. The sharp mandibles looked like they could easily tear her in half.
“Screech!!!—”
Lin Yu jumped up in fright, letting out a scream.
What on earth is that?!
But it didn’t seem to move. Was it asleep? … No, it was dead.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Lin Yu began to observe the massive creature in front of her.
Aside from the broken eggshells, the space around her contained only this enormous creature. Its body was divided into three parts: head, thorax, and abdomen, with six legs and two antennae. What caught her attention the most, however, were its massive jaws.
It was an ant—a terrifyingly large one.
Thankfully, it was dead.
Wait a moment.
An idea suddenly clicked in Lin Yu’s mind.
The dead ant… and the eggs… Could it be?
She finally examined her own body.
Six legs, two antennae, noticeable mandibles, and intricate mouthparts…
Sure enough, she had transformed into an ant.
But why was she pure white?
Her entire body, legs, mouthparts, and antennae were all white, except for her red eyes.
Did I roll around in milk or something?
With mixed feelings, Lin Yu sighed.
Forget it. At least I didn’t transform into a spider, cockroach, or centipede.
As if recalling some unpleasant memory, her ant body shivered.
She couldn’t help but take a closer look at her surroundings.
It appeared to be a cave. Behind the giant ant’s body was a round passage, which seemed to be the only exit.
Even though she could see fairly well in the dark, the passage remained a mystery—she couldn’t see what lay beyond.
Hmm, maybe I shouldn’t venture out just yet.
Lin Yu instinctively took a few steps back.
Well, there’s nothing I can do. If I run into a spider in that tunnel, how could a little ant like me possibly fight it?
But then again… weren’t ants supposed to be really strong?
She vaguely remembered that ants could lift things many times their own weight.
I wish I knew how strong I am right now.
Just as this thought crossed her mind, her vision suddenly brightened. A transparent window appeared before her, startling her.
Name: Lin Yu
Species: Queen Ant
Qualification: S+
Class: None
Level: LV.1
Health Value: 10/10
Magic Value: 12/12
Skills: “Unique Skill – Queen Ant,” “Egg Laying”
Attributes:
Strength: 0
Agility: 0
Intelligence: 1
Physical Resistance: 0
Elemental Magic Resistance: 0
Abnormal State Resistance: 0
Huh?
What is this…?
Qualification? Race? Level? Health Value? Magic Value? Skills? Attributes?
A game?
“Hello? Is anyone there? System? Manager?”
No one responded, and Lin Yu pouted in frustration.
She refocused her attention on the glowing window in front of her.
“The race is Queen Ant… Am I really a Queen Ant? No, wait, is Queen Ant even a race? Shouldn’t it just be called ants?”
She continued reading.
“Qualification S+… Qualification usually refers to growth potential, right? What does S+ even mean? Is that high?
And my level… LV.1? Hmm, that’s a bit disappointing.”
Her gaze shifted downward.
“Health Value and Magic Value… even without anything to compare it to, these numbers seem ridiculously low.
Skills… Unique Skill – Queen Ant? A unique skill? Why is there such a thing? If it’s unique, does that mean it’s one of a kind?
Wait… could that dream I had really be real? Is this unique skill the so-called ‘blessing’?”
She shook her head, rejecting the thought.
“Stop. What a joke! What I wished for was an army of unbeatable and loyal followers!”
As that thought crossed her mind, Lin Yu’s ant-like face froze.
Her eyes locked onto the second skill: Egg Laying.
“Unbeatable… and loyal…”
A sudden realization hit her.
“Oh, I see now,” she muttered, her expression shifting.
“Well, if they’re my own children, wouldn’t they naturally be unbeatable and loyal to me?”
Her thoughts took a sharp turn.
“Yuck! Who wants to have children?! That’s not what I meant! What I wanted was invincibility and loyalty, not—ugh!”
She groaned and turned her attention back to the attributes.
“Strength. That one’s easy to understand. But… why is it 0? Does that mean I’m so weak that I can’t even manage a 1? Oh no, I’m too weak!”
She glanced at the next line.
“Agility… Does that mean speed or quickness? And that’s also 0? Great, I’m not just weak; I’m slow too!”
Her gaze shifted to Intelligence.
“Intelligence is 1… but this probably doesn’t mean regular intelligence. It might refer to magical intelligence? If there’s something called Magic Value, then magic must exist here. Maybe Intelligence is related to magical power?”
Her mind whirred as she examined the remaining stats.
“Physical Resistance Ability… That’s probably how tough my body is, right?
Elemental Magic Resistance Ability… That should be how much magic I can resist.
Abnormal State Resistance Ability… That must be resistance to things like poison, paralysis, or curses.”
Lin Yu let out an exasperated sigh.
“Seriously? Who can make sense of all this just from a status panel? I need a manual! Someone give me a manual, please!”
She sighed again, staring at the glowing window in resignation.
Whoosh—
Although she felt a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a proper system to explain everything, the window in front of her was enough proof that this world was different from her original one.
“And then there’s that dream I had…”
Her voice trailed off as her mind drifted, filled with questions about this strange new reality.
I Love Yuri
Kumo is that u?
