Chapter 58: Unless Resorting to Violence
“So…” Anthony suddenly burst out laughing, “After a whole day of arguing back and forth, this is all you can come up with? A useless piece of crap! I could think for a minute on the toilet and summarize it more clearly than you guys. Isn’t it just poverty!”
“This is the most deadly disease in the world, and it can never be cured. As long as there is wealth, poverty will not disappear. Any compromise solution is merely avoidance!”
“Sounds like you have a magical solution,” Zhou Zhi retorted, his tone now tinged with irritation.
“Of course I do, kid! Or did you think I stumbled in here by chance?”
Involuntarily, everyone’s gazes turned towards him.
After all, the previous actions of the Russian had seemed more brutal than strategic.
“Could you elaborate?” Zhang Zhiyuan couldn’t help but ask.
“It’s simple. The Cathedral needs medicine; we can provide it. They require bandages and sewing needles; we can produce them as well. We could even start our own company, dominate the market with more advanced products, and take care of the nuns!” Anthony declared with a big wave of his hand. “Don’t assume it would take a very long time—while you were wasting breath on Yeni’s nonsense, I took a stroll around the docks and nearby commercial streets. I discovered that this city is quite well supplied. Money can easily buy materials and machines.
At this point, he pointed at Asahara Naruko and asked, “I suppose you have experience here. If you had enough money, how long would it take you to start a company?”
Naruko, though somewhat displeased, thought for a moment before answering, “It depends on the time required for various qualification checks and procedural formalities at the company’s location.”
“What if none of that is necessary?”
“Within a week… production could start.” Naruko shook her head, “But you still haven’t addressed the main issue—we don’t have a single penny as capital.”
“That’s where you’re all too naive. This city is teeming with money, yet you dare say we have none?” Anthony burst out laughing, “Listen folks, we’re not on Earth anymore! And we have guns! Why not just take what we need?”
“Pfft.” Zhang Zhiyuan choked on his saliva.
However, Asahara Naruko and Zhou Zhi’s eyes lit up.
Chaoyang inadvertently glanced at Luo Di and was surprised to see her deep in thought.
“We’re not bandits!” Unable to bear it any longer, Zhang Zhiyuan slammed his hand down and stood up abruptly, “What if someone tries to stop us? Are you suggesting that we kill them all?”
“Brother Zhang, we don’t need to rob people on the street… Aren’t these big companies the most ideal targets?” Zhou Zhi hastily restrained him.
“What specific companies were you referring to with that special contract earlier?”
“There are four in total,” Asahara Naruko replied. “They are Gaotian Mining Corporation, Schneck & Will Shipping Company, Black Steel Security, and Fujian Construction. These are also the four most powerful companies within the Glorious Fortress.”
“Sky Mining Corporation again? Well, then there’s nothing more to say then.” Anthony licked his lips. “The Northern City Police Department was funded by them, right? I haven’t settled up accounts with them yet from last time!”
“Hey, Mr. Justice Warrior—” The Russian gestured towards Zhang Zhiyuan, “What do you think? This company has never done anything even remotely decent. Surely you don’t think it would be morally wrong to rob them of their money?”
For a moment, Zhang Zhiyuan couldn’t find any words to counter. After all, the incidents at the theater and the manor constituted were some of the most brutal atrocities. As the maim sponsor behind these acts, Sky Mining Corporation clearly condoned or even supported them; otherwise, so many Nepheids miners wouldn’t have been imprisoned in the manor’s dungeon.
Naturally, he harbored an intense hatred for this scum-ridden corporation.
“If it’s specifically targeting these people, I… will join.” Zhang Zhiyuan said while sitting down again.
“Now that’s more like a real Paradise mission,” Anthony’s enthusiasm had changed significantly from before. “Host, are there any maps available here?”
“They can be exchanged for ten points each.”
“Uh… who among you has the most points?”
“I’ll cover it.” Zhou Zhi volunteered to cover the cost.
[I thought you would step forward and express opposition], Chaoyang whispered privately to Luo Di while rubbing his temples. [It seems that the angel’s criteria for judgment are far more flexible than I expected.]
If Luo Di had participated in the second round of the game and personally witnessed the crime of the Northern City Police Departmen, her silence would have been understandable. However, her knowledge of the Sky Mining Corporation was only based on the fragmented information shared by the other four people. Her lack of objection was genuinely surprising to him.
[Companies are one of the main sources of evil in this world, regardless of where they exist. I assumed you understood this better than me.]
[Uh… Are French companies really that bad?]
[I’m referring to any company, anywhere! They’re all the same!]
It was evident that Luo Di had a strong dislike for corporations, so Chaoyang wisely decided to skip further discussion on this topic. “At least where we come from, there are laws that restrict such behavior. This place called the New Continent is practically lawless.” He briefly recounted the incidents involving the Sky Mining Corporation and the Northern City Police Department. “If you want to punish evil and uphold justice, there’s no shortage of work here.”
“What about you? What do you hope to achieve here?”
“Isn’t it clear from the beginning?” Chaoyang smiled. “I just want to survive.”
After much deliberation, the “Players” finally came up with a preliminary plan for accumulating capital.
In summary, the Sky Mining Corporation had two main areas within Glorious Fortress: one being the metallurgical plant located in the northwest part of the city, and the other, the mining site situated on the outskirts of the city. These two areas were connected by a railroad whose terminus led directly to the port docks in the southeast. Undoubtedly, this was an efficient transportation system that handled everything from mining to smelting to exports via railroads.
A direct raid on the metallurgical plant would have been too close to the city, while a raid on the mining site would have been too far away. As for robbing the bank where Sky Mining Corporation had it’s accounts, that would increase the difficulty for them unnecessarily. Therefore, the compromise naturally focused on targeting the railroad.
In fact, robbing a train turned out to be everyone’s favorite option!
“I believe the Yanks are pretty good at this, but we’re no slouches either,” Anthony concluded. “Most of the time, these trains are carrying ore, so we need to identify the ones carrying money. Based on my experience, they usually show up a day or two before the payroll is due. With such large amounts of cash, it’s impractical to store it for long periods of time, so once it arrives, it must be distributed quickly. Of course, the amount won’t be enormous, probably only a small portion of Sky Mining Corporation’s total assets. This also means that their security measures won’t be too strict.”
Zhou Zhi couldn’t help but gain newfound respect for the Russian, “So all we need is to do is find out when the mining site pays its wages?”
“A little hint can make the information more accurate.” Anthony glanced around the room. “Does anyone have any objections?”
Seeing no dissent, he turned to Chaoyang, “This is our proposed solution! Host, if there are no further questions, we should proceed accordingly.”
