Chapter 33: Monster

Hua Qing gazed at Cancan, repeated her words and asked again, "Forget everything? What about you? Will you forget about your childhood?"

Feeling awkward, Cancan said pitifully, "Of course not. That’s why I wish we could forget."

Hua Qing’s eyes flickered, and he smiled faintly without saying anything else. His expression seemed thoughtful as Cancan propped her chin up and looked at Yu Xiu, saying, "I feel sorry for Yu Xiu."

Hua Qing remained silent.

Several people quickly arrived at the foot of Shu Mountain. Yu Xiu seemed to have gained some energy when she saw Shu Mountain. She thought for a moment, then went to Hua Qing and knelt down, earnestly asking, "Hua Qing, please accept me as your apprentice." Her words were sincere and determined.

Cancan sat to the side, nibbling on her fingernails, quietly watching. Big Green noticed Cancan’s nails getting more and more bitten, and clicked his tongue.

Hua Qing remained expressionless, and said seriously, "I cannot take you as my apprentice." It was a rejection, just like years ago when Yu Xiu came to Shu Mountain with her father, hoping to be taught. Her father was no longer there, and she returned to Shu Mountain years later, expecting a different answer from Hua Qing. But to her disappointment, he still refused.

Yu Xiu suddenly felt sad. Holding back tears, she asked, "Why?" Her voice carried not only sadness but also disappointment. She bit her lip and said, "I just want you to be my mentor. I want to fight evil and kill Mo Yuan for what he did to my family. I want to kill him." She became a bit hysterical, saying, "He harmed my family, I want to kill him."

"That’s precisely why," Hua Qing said slowly, "Because of that, I cannot take you as my apprentice. Yu Xiu, your determination runs too deep."

"Who doesn’t have determination? Don’t you have any?" Yu Xiu pointed at Cancan and cried, "If you don’t have any determination, why did you seek out Snowflake Glass? Why did you find Xian Yue? Why did you bring her?" She accused, "Is it because she looks exactly like Xian Yue that you, you, you like Xian Yue?"

With Yu Xiu’s outburst, Cancan involuntarily released her fingers, and Big Green beside her was also stunned.

Hua Qing remained calm, as if the words were not directed at him. He looked compassionately at Yu Xiu and said calmly, "I cannot be your master, but I will find you a teacher."

Despite avoiding the topic of Xian Yue, Yu Xiu persisted, crying, "I just want you."

Hua Qing seemed to understand her thoughts and asked slowly, "Are you only wanting to be my apprentice because you seek revenge? Yu Xiu bit her lip, tears uncontrollable in her eyes as she looked at Hua Qing, then suddenly turned and ran away.

Watching her leave, Hua Qing wiped the sweat off Hua Yun, who was still unconscious. Cancan hesitated for a moment, then approached Hua Qing nervously, tugging at his sleeve, asking, "Can I go after her? It’s not safe for her to be alone."

Hua Qing nodded, and Cancan hurried off. Even though Yu Xiu didn’t particularly like her, Cancan knew she had a kind heart – she had saved him when he was young! But Cancan didn’t run far before stopping suddenly. She turned back to Hua Qing, her face conflicted but determined, and asked, "What Yu Xiu said… about you… Xian Yue…" Not sure how to continue, Cancan gathered courage and asked seriously, "Do you like Xian Yue?"

Hua Qing raised an eyebrow, but Cancan persisted, wanting a definite answer. "Do you like Xian Yue?" Her voice grew louder.

Hua Qing sneered, "What do you think? Get lost!"

Seeing Hua Qing’s expression, Cancan felt confident that he didn’t like her. With newfound determination, Cancan happily went to find Yu Xiu. But by the time she got there, Yu Xiu was nowhere to be seen. Panicked, Cancan ran faster than usual and found herself unexpectedly light on her feet. Excited, she realized she had learned something, she wasn’t a fool! Unable to contain her joy, Cancan focused and managed to leap into the air using magic, quickly catching up to Yu Xiu. "Yu Xiu!"

Hearing the call, Yu Xiu turned to see Cancan approaching, not Hua Qing. Feeling a pang of bitterness, she thought she was even lower in Hua Qing’s regard than a fox. She could have flown with her sword, but her previous injuries left her only able to take care of herself. Feeling inferior to Cancan, Yu Xiu forced herself to run away, not wanting to see them anymore.

Cancan was confused but chased after her. Suddenly, Yu Xiu was swept up in what felt like an earthquake, the ground shaking beneath them.

Yu Xiu couldn’t stand steady, and fell down suddenly. When Cancan saw this, she wanted to go forward. However, at that moment, a strange monster appeared out of nowhere. The monster was fierce and huge, almost stepping on Yu Xiu. Yu Xiu panicked and managed to dodge just in time.

When Cancan saw this, she felt frightened and nervous.

The monster had eyes like copper bells, covered in scales all over its body, with a huge mouth that could swallow both Cancan and Yu Xiu at the same time. Cancan didn’t have time to think about how there could be such a monster near Shu Mountain. She just wanted to save Yu Xiu quickly. Although Yu Xiu dodged once, the monster caught her and threw her heavily to the ground, seemingly trying to crush her. When Cancan saw Yu Xiu spitting blood, she picked up a stick and rushed towards the monster. Before the stick could even touch the monster, it was instantly eaten by the monster. After eating the stick, the monster stared at Cancan and waved its hand at her.

Cancan dodged backward, luckily her reflexes were quick, avoiding being hit by a punch that could have seriously injured her. Cancan knew that as long as she persisted, she would be fine. She held on until Hua Qing arrived because no matter what kind of monster it was, it wouldn’t be a match for Hua Qing.

The previous earthquake was caused by this monster. Even so, Cancan still confronted it. She learned from her mistakes that she shouldn’t confront it head-on recklessly. She needed to strategize and prioritize dodging, given her small and agile nature. She managed to avoid the monster’s attacks quite well.

Cancan thought about how Hua Qing dealt with demons using the Icebreaker Sword and Demon-sealing Bell. She regretted not having a magical tool herself. She was panting and decided that after this incident, she must find Hua Qing to equip herself with proper gear to deal with monsters effectively. These monsters were so evil!

Perhaps due to the critical situation, Cancan unexpectedly remembered some spells she had seen before. She moved around and dodged, although she looked a bit messy, she managed to hold her own. Yu Xiu, already injured, and being thrown by the monster, could only lean against a tree, unable to move.

Fortunately, the monster was distracted by Cancan and didn’t touch Yu Xiu. Cancan felt a little relieved. The interaction between the fox and the monster continued back and forth. However, the monster wasn’t as mindless as it seemed. After a while, it seemed to understand Cancan’s intentions and became more aggressive. Cancan’s abilities were not enough to harm the monster at all. At this point, Cancan was getting more tired, as she was using her physical strength to deal with the monster alone, which would have been easier with Hua Qing’s assistance. It was extremely difficult without him.

The monster took a step forward and swung another punch. Cancan leaned back, almost touching the ground, and slid between its legs… Cancan smirked, realizing it was only a jealous female monster attacking them because she and Yu Xiu were young and beautiful. Meow!

Cancan was too busy to pay attention to anything else, so she poked the monster hard in the butt from behind. The monster howled, turned around aggressively, and Cancan quickly slipped to the front, staying alert. The monster seemed to realize Cancan’s intention, quickly turned around, but because of its large size, it stumbled and fell next to Yu Xiu.

Cancan immediately panicked, her heart racing, and shouted, "Yu Xiu, be careful!"

However, the monster only glanced at Yu Xiu for a moment, then ignored her completely and leaped towards Cancan again. Cancan was shocked by what she saw and reacted too slowly, getting punched in the chest by the monster. She spat out blood and fell to the ground, shouting, "Hua Qing, where on earth are you?!"

Cancan was furious!

Before she could say anything else, she suddenly felt a chill. As she turned around, she saw Hua Qing swinging the Icebreaker Sword, stepping on her shoulder, and flying past her…

Cancan was furious and frustrated!
