Chapter 21: Escape

Cancan and Big Green stared eagerly at the woman before them. She had natural beauty and grace, dressed in a white fringe dress, with jade hairpins that made her seem more like a fairy than a witch. But would a fairy really be a queen in the palace?

Hu Qiaoying looked at the two people with a cold smile, and said in a creepy tone, "Who do you think is the old witch?"

Cancan felt embarrassed, "Um, I am, I am… I am Hu Cancan, your niece. Um… I’m not here to build connections, I just live at Shu Mountain like Cancan. It was then that Cancan noticed a young boy by the consort’s side, about thirteen or fourteen years old, with red lips and white teeth, but a very gloomy expression. His lips were so red that Cancan called out, "Come here quickly."

The boy didn’t move, looking at them disdainfully. Cancan suddenly smelled a strong scent of blood, which was very unpleasant. But looking at the two of them, it was clear they hadn’t been injured.

Fox Concubine didn’t care about any family ties, she used magic. Big Green was stronger than Cancan and started to fight back, as they engaged in a fight.

Cancan was worried that the boy had been captured by the consort, so she tried to go over and pull him to safety. But before she could get close, she was enveloped in fire, transforming back to her original form and rolling on the ground.

Suddenly, a shower of ice-cold water poured down from above.

"Fiend!" A cold voice rang out. Hua Qing held the Icebreaker Sword and immediately attacked Fox Concubine. At that moment, Big Green couldn’t keep up and rushed out to protect Cancan, who was covered in ice debris. Big Green held her back, saying, "Don’t get close to this boy." He looked at the boy with hostility, sensing an aura of darkness surrounding him, despite being human.

Cancan felt confused dealing with both fire and ice, lamenting, "These sudden fire and ice attacks are unbearable."

Cancan quickly turned her attention to Fox Concubine, realizing she was no match for Hua Qing. After a few moves, Hua Qing defeated Fox Concubine. As Hua Qing’s Icebreaker Sword was about to strike, the boy suddenly charged forward. The sword pierced the boy, but there was no blood. Instead, Hua Qing felt a slight impact.

Seizing the opportunity, the boy grabbed Fox Concubine, and the two quickly tried to escape. Cancan leaped over and fiercely bit Fox Concubine before they left. In retaliation, Fox Concubine hit Cancan, sending her flying. Hua Qing flew back and caught Cancan, using magic to trap Fox Concubine within his barrier.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Suddenly, Hua Qing’s barrier shattered. The boy cut his hand, and his blood shattered the barrier. The two escaped swiftly, with Hua Qing pursuing them but to no avail.

Cancan watched in amazement, despite her burnt fur, trembling as she asked, "W-What kind of monster is he? How can he be so powerful?"

With her fur singed and a pitiful look, Cancan wondered why she had been mistreated twice in just a few days.

Cancan pouted, "Back at Shu Mountain, although I didn’t always have enough to eat, I had warm clothes and beautiful fur. Now, I look like a stray dog. It’s so heartbreaking!"

Hua Qing frowned as he watched Fox Concubine run away, he didn’t chase after her. He heard Cancan’s sad complaining and bent down to hug her. Cancan suddenly heard a thumping sound and her heart raced. Hua Qing gently stroked Cancan and she felt warm and comfortable all over, not knowing why, but just feeling cozy.

Cancan rubbed against Hua Qing and he calmly said, "If you want to die, then keep rubbing."

Cancan pouted, feeling unloved, but she still squinted her eyes and let him hold her. Hua Qing stood there holding Cancan without moving.

Beside them, Big Green watched with a sigh, thinking, "Damn, being a female is so popular! When will a handsome man like that embrace a male, scruffy gray wolf? It just wouldn’t happen, would it? But hugging a fluffy white fox is surprisingly beautiful!"

After standing for a while, Cancan felt like her heart was about to jump out. She obediently snuggled in his arms and Hua Qing said, "Let’s go back."

Back at the inn, Hua Qing put Cancan on the table, but Cancan didn’t want to be let go. She clung to him, using her paws to grab his clothes tightly. Big Green watched from afar, feeling it was too shameful to witness!

Hua Qing created a light illusion with his hand, and Cancan obediently lay on the table, fearing being hit again. The last time she was hit, it actually hurt quite a bit!

The light illusion on Hua Qing’s hand gently touched Cancan, making her feel even more comfortable. She curiously asked, "Hua Qing, can you heal illnesses too?"

Hua Qing calmly replied, "No, I can’t."

Cancan touched his lips and thought he could do it, but said he couldn’t… so he couldn’t! Cancan felt relaxed, turned back into human form, smiled at Hua Qing, and said, "You’re really good."

Hua Qing looked at Cancan, Cancan kept smiling at Hua Qing, Hua Qing pursed his lips, Cancan changed his move, continued looking at Hua Qing, really good-looking! And kind-hearted!

Finally, Hua Qing blushed under her gaze, he coughed and said calmly, "Come down."

Cancan still smiled at Hua Qing, not moving.

Big Green felt uncomfortable seeing Cancan acting so obsessed.

Hua Qing urged, "Get down from there!"

Cancan finally woke up, jumped off the table, and asked, "Hua Qing, you haven’t said yet, what kind of creature was that boy just now! He seems even more skillful than my cousin."

Big Green stood aside, vigorously nodding in agreement.

Hua Qing poured himself a glass of water, drank slowly, Cancan watched eagerly, nudged his waist, Hua Qing flinched a bit, dodged, and said, "He’s not a creature!"

Speaking of this, Cancan got upset and quickly said, "He must be a monster, he’s so powerful. Your Icebreaker Sword stabbed him, but he didn’t bleed; and his blood even broke your barrier! So he must be a big monster. Then what is he?"

Hua Qing said slowly, "It’s only natural that the fresh blood of the true Dragon Emperor can break my barrier."

Cancan was puzzled, scratching her head in confusion, "True Dragon Emperor? You mean he’s the emperor?" At last, Cancan screamed, "This is impossible! Cancan’s expression twisted suddenly, she swallowed saliva, grinned awkwardly for a while, and said, "So… they went to eat people and came back?" Thinking about this, Cancan felt uncomfortable all over her body.

Hua Qing nodded coldly, "That’s correct, their bodies are filled with blood and resentment, almost breaking through the sky."
