At almost the exact same time that Akado’s Greater Germany Party was founded, in an office in a building in Munich, Adolf Hitler was giving a loud speech to dozens of Nazi Party followers gathered before him:
“Gentlemen! To fight for the freedom of the German people! To awaken the soul of the German nation! The Nazi Party has redrafted its party program! From this moment on, the Nazi Party will be dedicated to serving the poor! To serving the interests of all the people of Germany! To fighting for the expulsion of all Jews from Germany! Thank you all for your support!”
After the applause ended, he continued with his arm raised high:
“Therefore! Everyone should have a better understanding of our party program! Below, I will give a comprehensive introduction to the content of the Nazi Party’s program!
Article 1: We demand the union of all Germans in a Greater Germany on the basis of the right of national self-determination.
Article 2: We demand equality of rights for the German people in its dealings with other nations, and the abolition of the Treaty of Versailles and the Treaty of Saint-Germain.
Article 3: We demand land and territory (colonies) to feed our people and to settle our surplus population.
Article 4: Only a member of the race can be a citizen. A member of the race can only be one who is of German blood, irrespective of creed. Consequently, no Jew can be a member of the race.
Article 5: Whoever has no citizenship is to be able to live in Germany only as a guest and must be regarded as being subject to foreign laws.
Article 6: The right of voting on the leadership and legislation of the state is to be enjoyed by the citizen of the state alone. We demand therefore that all official appointments, of whatever kind, whether in the Reich, in the states or in the smaller localities, shall be granted to citizens of the state alone. We oppose the corrupting parliamentary custom of filling posts merely with a view to party considerations, and without reference to character or a1bilities.
Article 7: We demand that the state be charged first with providing the opportunity for a livelihood and way of life for the citizens. If it is impossible to feed the entire population of the State, then the members of foreign nations (non-citizens) must be expelled from the Reich.
Article 8: Any further immigration of non-Germans is to be prevented. We demand that all non-Germans, who have immigrated to Germany since August 2, 1914, be required immediately to leave the Reich.
Article 9: All citizens of the state shall be equal as regards rights and duties.
Article 10: It must be the first duty of every citizen of the state to work with his mind or with his body. The activities of the individual may not clash with the interests of the whole, but must proceed within the frame of the community and be for the general good2.
Therefore, we demand:
Article 11: Abolition of unearned (work and labour) incomes. Breaking of debt (interest) slavery.
Article 12: In view of the enormous sacrifice of life and property that every war demands of the people, personal enrichment due to a war must be regarded as a crime against the nation. Therefore, we demand the total confiscation of all war profits.
Article 13: We demand nationalisation of all (previous) associated industries (trusts).
Article 14: We demand a division of profits of all heavy industries.
Article 15: We demand a large-scale expansion of old-age welfare.
Article 16: We demand the creation of a healthy middle class and its maintenance, the immediate communalisation of major department stores, and their leasing at a cheap rate to small traders, and that the utmost consideration be shown to all small traders in the placing of state and municipal orders.
Article 17: We demand a land reform suitable to our needs, provision of a law for the free expropriation of land for the common good, the abolition of land rent, and the prohibition of all speculation in land.
Article 18: We demand a ruthless prosecution of those whose activities are injurious to the common interest. Scurvy criminals against the nation, usurers, profiteers, etc. must be punished with death, whatever their creed or race.
Article 19: We demand that the Roman Law, which serves the materialistic world order, be replaced by a German common law.
Article 20: With the aim of opening up the possibility of higher education for every capable and industrious German and thereby the opportunity of attaining into leading positions, the state must carry out a thorough reconstruction of our national system of education. The curriculum of all educational establishments must be brought into line with the requirements of practical life. Directly the mind begins to develop, the schools must aim at teaching the pupil to understand the idea of the state. 3We demand the education of specially gifted children of poor parents, whatever their class or occupation, at the expense of the state.
Article 21: The state must see to raising the standard of health in the nation by protecting mothers and infants, prohibiting child labour, and by promoting physical strength through legislation providing for compulsory gymnastics and sports, and by extensive support of clubs engaged in the physical training of youth.
Article 22: We demand the abolition of a paid army and the foundation of a people’s army.
Article 23: We demand legal warfare against deliberate political lies and their dissemination in the press. In order to facilitate the creation of a German national press we demand:4
- that all editors of newspapers and their assistants, employing the German language, must be members of the nation;
- that special permission from the state shall be necessary before non-German newspapers may appear. These are not necess6arily printed in the German language;
- that non-Germans shall be prohibited by law from participating financially in or influencing German newspapers, and that the penalty for contravention of the law shall be suppression of any such newspaper, and the immediate expulsion from the Reich of the non-German concerned. It is to be forbidden to publish newspapers which do not conduce to the national welfare.
We demand the legal prosecution of all tendencies in art and literature of a kind likely to disintegrate our life as a nation, and the suppression of institutions which militate against the above requirements.
Article 24: We demand freedom of religion for all religious denominations within the state so long as they do not endanger its existence or oppose the moral senses of the Germanic race. The Party as such advocates the standpoint of a positive Christianity without binding itself confessionally to any one denomination. It combats the Jewish-materiali7st spirit within and without us, and is convinced that our nation can only achieve permanent health from within on the principle of: The Common Good Before The Individual Good.
Article 25: That all the foregoing may be realised, we demand the creation of a strong central power of the state. That the central parliament should have unconditional authority over the whole state and its organizations in general. The formation of professional committees to apply the laws promulgated by the Reich in the various states of the confederation. The leaders of the Party swear to guarantee by all means the realisation of the foregoing points, if necessary to sacrifice their own lives in securing fulfilment of the foregoing.”
Applause rang out once more, long and unabated. At this moment, Adolf Hitler looked at his excited subordinates with a look of smug satisfaction and raised his lips into a smile. “Victory! Heil!”
The Nazi Party had its own program of action and took a firm step forward. They firmly believed that under the guidance of this program, they could conquer all of Germany, could conquer all the German people.
Everyone waved their arms and shouted from their hearts: “Victory! Heil!”
Hitler raised his own arm high and incited his followers, “We must overthrow the Bavarian government! We demand the realization of our program! Germany will be revived through our efforts! Tomorrow! We will take up our steel rifles and fight to the death for the great and sacred goal in our hearts!—We must seize control of the state of Bavaria by force of arms!”
“My God, an armed rebellion? Can that really work?” Hearing Hitler’s words, the Nazi Party members in the audience, who had been fired up just a moment ago, began to buzz with discussion. Although they were fanatical followers of Hitler’s Nazi Party, going to their deaths was another matter entirely.
Seeing the panic below, Hitler beckoned to his side. The former police chief, Pöhner, walked to the front of the stage and said smugly to the people below, “Gentlemen! Mr. Hitler and I have already persuaded the police officials. They are on our side! And we have contacted most of the government officials, and they all support our action!”
The police are willing to support this uprising? That’s great! The people below were incited once more. “Let’s do it! How long will it take for us to get ahead if we just keep developing like this? It’s better to do something big!”
“Yes! We must act!”
Seeing the crowd below boil over again, Hitler cracked a smug smile. He had succeeded. He had successfully deceived everyone.
…
Since the establishment of the Greater Germany Party, Akado had become even busier. Just two days after its founding, Foreign Minister Gustav Stresemann delivered the party membership applications of thirty-seven officials from the Foreign Ministry. The Reichswehr had even more, with 972 people applying to join, most of them grassroots soldiers and low-ranking officers.
The response from the business community was mediocre. Because Akado had persuaded Krupp to convince his friends to reduce their exploitation of labor, which temporarily lowered the capitalists’ profits, the Greater Germany Party did not have a strong resonance among the business community.
Akado knew this phenomenon was only temporary. Because when the assembly line production process and integrated mass production methods, which were born ahead of their time, became widespread, industrial profits would increase substantially. Akado was consciously transforming the conflict between businessmen and workers into a desire among businessmen for advanced production technology.
He persuaded Krupp, met with several famous writers, and rushed to compile a management textbook. Although such books were not common in 1923, Akado knew that this kind of thing was one of the best-selling types of books in the 21st century. Akado wanted to use this management book to conquer the capitalist class and also to establish his position in the economic world.
On November 17, the Greater Germany Party received the first party membership application from a high-ranking military official. The commander of the 15th Division, General Reo, swore an oath to join the Greater Germany Party. Of the three reorganized Reichswehr divisions around Berlin, one was now a force firmly in Akado’s grasp.
On November 18, a destroyer secretly left the port of Hamburg, carrying the new hope of the German Navy. A few days earlier, Akado had suggested to President Hindenburg, and the Reichswehr High Command had verified and approved, that the Naval Command dispatch a force of about 450 men to the Netherlands. This special naval operations force was permitted by the Dutch government to board two large Dutch submarines for training. This was part of the agreement for Germany to help the Netherlands produce submarines.
A 32-year-old naval lieutenant was on this destroyer heading to the Netherlands. He had just joined a secret party yesterday—the Greater Germany Party. To his surprise, his membership application was personally approved by the party chairman, Akado Rudolph. Even now, his hands were still trembling with excitement. This lieutenant’s name was Karl, Karl Dönitz.
And in these few days, Krupp felt even more that Akado was unfathomably deep. Because the Krupp factory had experimented with the defensive effect of sloped armor against armor-piercing shells, and the results showed that sloped armor could indeed cause fast-flying armor-piercing shells to ricochet. Everyone was very satisfied with the experimental results.
