Chapter 99: Dragon Cart
As the group stepped out of the main fairy city’s teleportation center, they were immediately struck by the bustling and prosperous scene around them.
Xu Fan breathed a sigh of relief. For now, they were safe. Back in Xiangzhou, he had constantly felt a looming sense of danger, but that feeling had finally dissipated.
“Master Xu, I’m going to meet an old friend. You all can go and stock up on things like fasting pills. Our next stop is Yulong Province, where we’ll board the dragon cart to travel through several states before reaching the central continent. Let’s meet back here in two hours,” Shan Chen said to Xu Fan.
“Once we’re on the central continent, we can teleport to the Central Continent from any fairy city,” he added.
“Understood, senior,” Xu Fan replied.
The only thing Xu Fan really needed to buy was some meat. Currently, he owned a palm-sized farm that had expanded to 40 acres.
He had over 50 plots dedicated to spirit rice. If he couldn’t eat it all, he’d sell the surplus. If he was too lazy to sell, he’d simply brew alcohol at home, leaving the work to his puppets.
There were also 100 plots of Spiritual Fruits, all rare varieties collected by Xu Yuexian from various regions.
On top of that, he had over 1,000 plots of spirit herbs.
If it weren’t for Xu Fan splurging on a spatial treasure, he wouldn’t have been able to store all these palm-sized farms.
“Let’s split up for now. We’ve been on edge for too long, so let’s take this chance to wander around, buy what we need, and relax,” Xu Fan suggested.
“We’ll regroup here in two hours,” he added, handing out storage bags to everyone, including Wang Yulun’s family. Each bag contained 1 million spirit stones.
Having money sure made life easier.
The group cheered and scattered in different directions.
The main fairy city was typically guarded by a respected elder, so as long as they didn’t stir up trouble, they were perfectly safe.
Xu Fan strolled through the lively streets and casually asked a passerby for directions to the largest guild. Following the directions, he made his way there.
Halfway to his destination, he spotted a towering giant tower that seemed to pierce the clouds. This was the Wind Spirit Guild.
Just as Xu Fan was about to enter the giant tower, a young lady dressed elegantly approached and invited him inside.
“Senior, is this your first time visiting our Wind Spirit Guild? What can I help you find today?”
“I’m your shopping guide, Little Xin,” she said with a crisp yet respectful tone, clearly well-trained.
“I’ve heard a lot about this place, so I thought I’d check it out,” Xu Fan replied casually.
“Then allow me to accompany you and show you around. I can also introduce you to some of our guild’s specialties,” the girl said with a warm smile. Xu Fan decided to give her a boost in her sales performance.
“Sure, let’s start with the runes section,” Xu Fan said.
“Of course!”
After over an hour, the young lady escorted Xu Fan out with the brightest smile imaginable. If there had been something like WeChat, she would’ve definitely added him on her most private account.
“She’s definitely a pro,” Xu Fan thought to himself as he glanced at the assortment of items now stored in his spatial ring.
In his relaxed state, the young lady had skillfully used her charm and sales tactics to convince him to buy not only what he needed but also a few unnecessary items.
“Spending money really does feel good,” Xu Fan mused, though he couldn’t help but wish he hadn’t spent quite so many spirit stones in the end.
When Xu Fan returned to the teleportation center, the rest of the group was already waiting at the entrance, all looking much more at ease.
It wasn’t long before Shan Chen returned, though his expression was noticeably more serious.
During the teleportation, Xu Fan learned the reason for Shan Chen’s grim demeanor: by the end of the day, a quarter of Xiangzhou had fallen. Respected elders from across the states were now heading to Xiangzhou to join forces in suppressing the beast race.
The group felt heavy-hearted upon hearing the news that their hometown had been occupied by the beast race; it was painful for everyone.
"Don’t be discouraged; once we’ve perfected our cultivation, we will strike back," Xu Fan reassured them.
Half a month later, after much traveling, Xu Fan and the others finally arrived at the fairy city on the outskirts of Yulong Province. Here, every six months, a Dragon Cart departed for the central continent.
With three days remaining until the next Dragon Cart’s departure, they all rested and cultivated in the inn.
In one room, Xu Fan was busy consolidating his cultivation at the Foundation Establishment Stage. He had just advanced but hadn’t had a chance to stabilize his cultivation before the current events occurred, which genuinely vexed him.
Finally, he could find a moment of peace.
"The Foundation Establishment Stage feels so different; my spiritual energy and mental strength have increased by more than ten times. I can freely use some divine abilities now; this sensation is amazing."
"With my current cultivation, I can already create puppets at the Nascent Soul stage. Once stabilized, I must significantly upgrade the puppet army."
"Additionally, I should find a suitable location in the Central Continent to establish a sect; that way, I can boldly implement some plans."
"Joining another sect is indeed inconvenient," Xu Fan calculated.
While at Que Tian Gate, he felt rather restricted; some ideas were simply not allowed within the sect.
Thinking about establishing a sect made Xu Fan excited, much like a young entrepreneur preparing to start a business.
At that moment, Xu Gang and Xu Yuexian knocked and entered Xu Fan’s room.
"Master, once we board the Dragon Cart, we will head straight to the central continent."
"What ideas do you have once we get there?" Xu Gang asked, as he had a brilliant thought in mind about finding a precious location to establish a sect centered around his master.
Xu Yuexian also looked at Xu Fan excitedly, sensing that her brother had come up with a good plan.
"You both seem eager; do you have some ideas?" Xu Fan smiled, pleased that his eldest disciple was showing initiative.
"Master, let’s establish a sect!"
"Master, you’re a jack of all trades; it’s a waste of your talents to just create a guild or a family," Xu Gang said, his eyes shining with excitement as he looked at Xu Fan.
Xu Fan was taken aback; it was rare for them to be so in sync.
"Finding a hidden place to establish a small sect is indeed a good choice. Have you thought of a name yet?" Xu Fan asked with interest.
"I haven’t decided yet; how about calling it the Steel Sect, symbolizing indestructibility?"
Xu Fan almost choked, thinking his disciple had gained insight only to realize the idea was rather silly.
"We will establish the sect, but we can discuss the name later. First, let’s get to the central continent," Xu Fan waved his hand, ushering the two out.
Three days later, a Dragon Cart pulled by an Overcoming Tribulations stage Shattering Wind Dragon descended upon the small border city.
The ticket cost 500,000 spirit stones per person, and the carriages could each carry at least 500 people. If the internal space had a folding Formation, even more could fit.
Xu Fan looked at the hundreds of people waiting to board and sighed at the huge profits; this trip alone brought in 300 to 400 million spirit stones in ticket sales, not to mention the cargo. After paying the fare for ten people, Xu Fan received ten room tokens.
When Xu Fan stepped into the carriage, he was astonished by the size; it was enormous. The carriage even contained 100 rooms and a central hall.
Not only that, but it also included five alchemy rooms and five artifact crafting rooms. The most extravagant feature was a small commercial street; the setup was remarkably luxurious.
"This journey is much easier than I expected," Xu Fan said as he looked around his room.
