Chapter 72: The Giant Tiger
The siblings both showed excited expressions, thinking that their master was so powerful that he would undoubtedly become an invincible respected elder in the future.
Xu Fan, on the other hand, thought to himself that he should take advantage of his disciples’ cultivation levels before they surpassed his and act accordingly, or he might not get another chance later.
“Master, how about we try to challenge a Nascent Soul Stage beast someday?” Xu Gang said excitedly, imagining himself casting that technique in the future. He decided to put the Nuclear Blast Technique aside and focus on mastering this spell first.
*Slap!*
A light smack left Xu Gang holding his head in pain for a long time.
“Did you forget what I taught you?” Xu Fan said seriously; this kid was getting a bit too carried away.
“On the path of cultivation, stability is key,” Xu Gang replied, still holding his head as he almost forgot his master’s teachings.
At that moment, the Heart of the Puppet behind Xu Fan sounded the alarm.
“An unstoppable high-speed beast is approaching quickly.” The Heart of the Puppet had barely finished when a black beast rushed toward the three of them from a distance.
The treasure hunting fox around Xu Yuexian’s neck suddenly chirped in fear, and if it weren’t for the restraint of the Beast Control Ring, it would have already run away.
Xu Fan smiled as he watched the changing expressions of the siblings; they first looked slightly tense but then calmed down after glancing at him.
Now, the Golden Core stage beast could be seen clearly: it was a giant black tiger measuring over eight meters in length, with bloodthirsty eyes that made the siblings’ legs tremble. Nonetheless, they fixed their gaze firmly on the approaching giant beast.
Xu Fan regarded them with a hint of approval—at least they had some courage.
Gently, he touched his space ring, and ten Electromagnetic No. 1 spears appeared in the air, all aimed at the charging giant tiger.
“Today I will teach you how to seal its movement,” Xu Fan said to his two disciples.
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
Thunder rumbled in the sky as three Electromagnetic spears shot toward the giant tiger.
The black Golden Core giant tiger flashed a hint of mockery in its eyes upon seeing the incoming spears. While it was fast, it was still useless.
The black Golden Core giant tiger swiftly changed directions in mid-air, leveraging the ground to evade all three incoming spears.
The moment the giant tiger landed,
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
Three loud booms echoed as the spears successfully sealed off the tiger’s escape routes.
*Roar!!!*
With a thunderous roar, the black Golden Core giant tiger sprouted wings, doubling its speed.
The siblings were filled with fear at the sight of the rapidly accelerating giant tiger; they did not flee in terror but simply because Xu Fan was right beside them.
“Even if it goes faster, it won’t make a difference,” Xu Fan said lightly, as the four remaining Electromagnetic spears in the air had already locked onto every possible escape route of the black Golden Core giant tiger.
*Bang!!!*
The four Electromagnetic spears shot simultaneously, as if crossing through space, directly striking the black Golden Core giant tiger.
*Boom!!*
The spears pinned the black Golden Core giant tiger down into the ground. At that moment, five more Electromagnetic spears appeared above Xu Fan, all aimed at the black Golden Core giant tiger.
“Remember, especially at times like this, even if you’re certain the enemy is dead, you must strike again for good measure.”
“Don’t ask why, just do it,” Xu Fan said sternly to his two disciples. When the situation allows, finishing off an enemy is always a good habit.
“We understand, Master,” the siblings replied.
With the final wail of the black Golden Core giant tiger, the battle came to an end.
“You think you’re the only one who can hold back? Think again,” Xu Fan mocked as he glanced at the remains of the giant tiger. The Electromagnetic spears he fired earlier had only half their usual speed and power, yet even then, the Golden Core tiger instinctively avoided taking them head-on.
“Xu Gang, Yuexian, do you see how to cut off its escape routes now?”
“The first two attacks were just probes, meant to force the enemy to use up its escape options.”
“The real strike was the last one. Those four Electromagnetic spears sealed off all the tiger’s escape paths. No matter how it tried to dodge, it was doomed.”
“Remember, in battle, always keep some cards hidden. Only show about seventy percent of your true strength,” Xu Fan began to share his wisdom with his disciples, using this fight as a lesson.
“Understood.”
By now, the spiritual liquid in the small lake had been completely absorbed by the Four Seas Bottle, leaving only a thick layer of sediment at the lakebed.
“This sediment is a treasure. If we use it as the core material for a large Spirit Gathering Formation, it’ll be the finest formation possible,” Xu Fan explained as he directed the Heart of the Puppet to start digging up the sticky, glue-like sediment.
Only after fresh soil was exposed at the lakebed did Xu Fan lead his two disciples to explore further.
“Seven Spiritual Flowers, Spiritual Water Ginseng, Celestial Fairy, Star Spirit Grass, Soul Spirit Fruit, and Heavenly Truffle—all over a thousand years old.”
“We’ve hit the jackpot! With these, I’ll never run short of main ingredients for alchemy,” Xu Fan exclaimed, standing on a platform built by his puppets. These were rare, millennium-old spirit herbs—finding even one was considered a stroke of luck.
“Master, why didn’t the previous cultivators take these spirit herbs?” Xu Yuexian asked curiously.
“Why didn’t you pick them?” Xu Fan countered with a smile.
“Those are Golden Core Stage beasts! If I got caught, I’d be in serious trouble,” Xu Yuexian replied.
“Then why didn’t he ask for help?” Xu Fan pressed.
“Because he wanted to keep this secret realm all to himself,” Xu Yuexian answered.
“Exactly. That’s your answer.”
“A place like this can’t be handled by just a few Golden Core Stage cultivators.”
“If you didn’t have me to help, what would you do?” Xu Fan asked again.
“I’d hide the exit, bide my time, and focus on cultivating with the spiritual liquid. Once my strength improved, I’d come back,” Xu Yuexian thought for a moment before answering.
“You’re a bit smarter than that guy,” Xu Fan praised.
Just then, the Heart of the Puppet flew over to report, “All outdoor areas have been cleared, Master. Awaiting your next command.”
Xu Fan nodded in satisfaction. He had worked hard to refine the Heart of the Puppet for moments like this, where a single command could set everything in motion.
“Collect beast materials, continue mining, gather spirit herbs, and send the remaining battle puppets to scout the ruins for valuable items,” Xu Fan ordered.
“Understood.”
The Heart of the Puppet flew off into the distance.
“Aside from its limited control range, it’s working perfectly,” Xu Fan remarked as he watched it go.
“Master, aren’t we going to explore the ruins ourselves?” Xu Yuexian asked, her eyes fixed on the ruins. Exploring them felt like the ultimate treasure-hunting adventure.
“The ruins can be dangerous too. It’s better to let the puppets handle it unless absolutely necessary.”
As Xu Fan spoke, he pointed at a nearby tree, releasing a flicker of spiritual light.
After a brief transformation, a dining table appeared before the three of them.
Xu Fan pulled out pre-prepared thermal food boxes, setting out a spread of delicious dishes.
“Hungry? Come eat.”
“A picnic in such a beautiful place has its own special charm.”
