Chapter 58: Life Waves
Xu Fan watched his busy disciples and felt a wave of contentment. Having such capable apprentices meant his retirement could come sooner than expected.
In no time, a lavish lunch was spread out on the table.
“Impressive! Your cooking has really improved while I was away,” Xu Fan remarked, savoring a piece of braised pork.
Xu Yuexian brought over a pot of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, the final and most elaborate dish.
“Well done! Your skills are now at a professional level. If cultivation doesn’t work out, we could always open a restaurant,” Xu Fan joked, smiling at his two young disciples.
Xu Gang was 11, and Xu Yuexian was 9. In his previous life, they would still be in elementary school, yet here they were, handling chores and cooking like pros. Xu Fan couldn’t help but feel a twinge of guilt.
“You should make Buddha Jumps Over the Wall more often. You’re both growing, and good nutrition is essential,” Xu Fan said, taking a sip of soup and letting out a satisfied sigh.
The ingredients were delivered daily by Pang Fu, who made sure they had everything they needed. All Xu Fan had to do was ask.
Just then, the protective barrier’s bell chimed, and Pang Fu walked in with a food box.
“Perfect timing! Join us, Brother Pang. You’re in for a treat—my disciples’ cooking is something else.”
“I’d say it’s even better than the Drunken Immortal Tower.”
Before Xu Fan could finish, the barrier’s bell rang again, and Wang Yulun and his wife, Murong Qianer, entered with their child, carrying their usual food boxes.
When Wang Yulun saw Xu Fan, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes, and a voice echoed in his mind:
“Bring this man to me, and I’ll lift your seal.” The voice was brimming with excitement.
Xu Fan noticed Wang Yulun’s odd demeanor and smiled faintly, realizing his friend was likely possessed.
“Great timing! Let’s all eat together,” Xu Fan said warmly.
“Ha! I already ate before coming, so go ahead and enjoy,” Pang Fu said, standing up to take his leave.
The rest of the group dug in. Xu Fan, using his Full Meal Technique, devoured most of the feast, polishing off about 80% of the food meant for twenty people.
After the meal, Xu Gang and Xu Yuexian took Wang Yulun’s son out to find Little Flower Deer.
The atmosphere in the room shifted, growing tense.
“You’ve got some nerve, possessing my brother,” Xu Fan said coolly, his gaze fixed on Wang Yulun and Murong Qianer.
Suddenly, Wang Yulun’s demeanor changed, his eyes glowing with an intense fervor as he stared at Xu Fan.
“Young man, how about joining the beast race? Once our grand plan is complete, the entire Xiangzhou could be yours to rule,” the possessed Wang Yulun proposed.
“Aren’t you worried the great beings of Que Tian Gate will notice you’ve taken over my brother?” Xu Fan replied calmly. He had known from the moment he saw Wang Yulun that he was under some form of subconscious hypnosis.
At that moment, Wang Yulun and Murong Qianer both summoned their Spiritual Energy Armors, moving to surround Xu Fan.
“Did you learn about me from Wang Yulun’s memories? Using tools I crafted against me? That’s a bit insulting.”
Xu Fan felt a pang of frustration—he had forgotten to install a backdoor in his creations.
“It doesn’t matter anymore. Soon, you’ll be one of us.”
Purple light spilled from Wang Yulun’s eyes, and if one looked closely, intricate formations flickered within them.
“Do you know what I’m best at?” Xu Fan asked, his smile taking on a mysterious edge.
At that moment, two beams of spiritual light struck the foreheads of Wang Yulun and Murong Qianer.
Suddenly, the world around them transformed.
In a pure white realm, Wang Yulun and Murong Qianer looked around in panic.
“Spatial transfer, you are a Great Ascension stage Sovereign!” Wang Yulun exclaimed in alarm.
At that moment, Xu Fan appeared in this world.
“You’re overthinking it.”
“You managed to evade the scans of the powerful beings from Que Tian Gate, which indeed shows some skill.”
“But possessing my brother is your mistake. Don’t think that hiding in his subconscious means no one can discover you.”
In the white world, two unusual sounds began to resonate rhythmically, growing faster with each beat, each one seemingly striking the mind.
“Every living being, including humans, has their own unique wave. But once that wave is invaded by something strange, it turns peculiar.”
As the frequencies of the two sounds increased, Wang Yulun and Murong Qianer grew paler; they tried to attack Xu Fan but found themselves losing control of their bodies.
Xu Fan continued, “To eliminate these strange things, you just need to increase your own wave frequency, and those oddities will be forced out.”
At that moment, the frequencies of the two sounds peaked, and with a ‘crack,’ two fox demon silhouettes appeared, restoring clarity to Wang Yulun and Murong Qianer’s eyes.
“Big Brother Xu, thank you! You saved our entire family this time,” they expressed gratefully. At that moment, when he was entangled by three Golden Core Stage fox demons and on the verge of sinking, he had considered suicide, but Xu Fan’s earlier words changed his mind.
That was why he had fallen into that seductive hell.
“It’s nothing major; you’ve suffered while I was away,” Xu Fan reassured him.
A giant hand reached out and grabbed the two panicked silhouettes.
“Let me see what your brother has gone through. I will return the favor tenfold.”
“I know many ways to torture,” Xu Fan said cruelly, making hand seals as a phantom snake appeared, diving directly into one of the fox demon’s heads.
“Big Brother Xu, don’t look anymore. Since you’ve captured them, just destroy them!” Wang Yulun suddenly said in a panic, glancing nervously at Murong Qianer.
“Of course not! The pain you endured must be returned double. I can’t let you suffer,” Xu Fan responded firmly.
No sooner had Xu Fan’s words ended than the invaded silhouette burst in agony, and in this pure white world, images formed—depicting the life experiences of this fox demon from childhood to adulthood.
“War between realms? A demon race invasion?”
“Teleportation portals have many powerful sect members guarding the central continent, and then great beasts used supreme abilities to transport a group of beast race members skilled in deception through spatial turbulence to this realm.”
Xu Fan seemed to have uncovered a grand conspiracy, but the images he saw next nearly made Murong Qianer explode.
In the picture, Wang Yulun had been lightly teased and, without much resistance, fell into a scene of indulgence and debauchery.
At this moment, Murong Qianer was fuming, her gaze at Wang Yulun filled with icy fire, but she refrained from exploding due to Xu Fan’s presence.
Only Xu Fan remained excitedly enjoying the spectacle in the air.
“Who would have thought, you are indeed a battle-hardened hero,” Xu Fan said gleefully.
“Qianer, let me explain!”
“I was already under control then; that wasn’t me doing those things!” Wang Yulun frantically explained to Murong Qianer.
“I don’t want to hear it, I don’t want to hear it, I don’t want to hear it~~~~~~”
