Chapter 5: Creation Spirit Master
Wang Yulun looked at Xu Fan, feeling a bit exasperated. Isn’t it every man’s dream to dominate all realms?
“Big Brother Xu, I believe that with your skills, you’ll definitely ascend to the Immortal Realm and become the 39th Master Ancestor of our Que Tian Gate.”
“When that happens, I can be your disciple and join you as you ascend to the Immortal Realm.”
Wang Yulun spoke with a dreamy expression. In the Feiyu Realm, when one overcomes the heavenly tribulation and ascends, the world’s will allows two cultivators with at least Nascent Soul cultivation to accompany them to the Immortal Realm.
At that moment, Xu Fan, who was busy flipping roasted meat, glanced at Wang Yulun.
“You still dream of the Immortal Realm? You don’t realize it’s an even harsher world.”
“For cultivators, it might as well be hell,” Xu Fan said, recalling a novel he’d read in his past life.
“How can that be? It’s the ultimate dream for every cultivator.”
“Maybe for you,” Xu Fan replied.
Even if you ascend to the Immortal Realm, you’d still end up being a nobody.
Xu Fan grabbed two plates and, with a flick of his finger, released a high-pressure wind blade that cleanly sliced the roasted meat into two portions, placing them on the plates.
His fingers moved like shadows, cutting the meat into bite-sized pieces in an instant.
Seeing this, Wang Yulun’s eyes widened slightly, and a flicker of awe crossed his face.
He was certain that even if he reached a higher level of Qi Refinement, he wouldn’t be able to wield spells with such precision as Xu Fan.
“Here, dig in. The thigh meat of a sixth-layer Qi Refinement beast is packed with energy,” Xu Fan said with a grin.
Wang Yulun took the roasted meat and suddenly spoke seriously, “Big Brother Xu, can I become your disciple?”
“You? My disciple? Are you out of your mind?”
“Didn’t you say you might get into Jia Hall and have a Powerful Master personally guide you?” Xu Fan asked, looking at Wang Yulun in surprise.
“Big Brother Xu, you should know, I come from a small cultivation family. The strongest member of my family is at the Golden Core Stage, but we once had an ancestor who was a Transformation God cultivator.”
After saying this, Wang Yulun looked at Xu Fan expectantly.
Xu Fan suddenly seemed intrigued.
“Go on. What’s your point?”
“Even though my family fell into decline, the travel journals left by that Transformation God ancestor opened our eyes to the wider world.”
“Our realm, the Feiyu Realm, is a middle thousand world.”
“And the Immortal Realm is a great thousand world.”
“Big Brother Xu, you’re right—the Immortal Realm is indeed a far more brutal place.”
Wang Yulun straightened up and continued, “The area where our Que Tian Gate is located is one of the poorer regions in the Feiyu Realm.”
“The central continent, on the other hand, is the true haven for cultivators.”
“There, you’ll find no fewer than a hundred sects with Great Ascension cultivators.”
“The strongest among them, Tianyu Sect, is the most powerful faction in the entire Feiyu Realm.”
As Wang Yulun continued his explanation, Xu Fan found himself growing more and more puzzled. What exactly was this guy trying to get at? It felt like he was going on and on without ever reaching the main point. Still, the world knowledge he was sharing wasn’t entirely useless.
"In the central continent, cultivators have delved deep into the essence of cultivation techniques and spells, even creating new ones by blending existing methods," Wang Yulun said.
"Those who specialize in crafting these techniques and spells are revered as Creation Spirit Masters. Their status surpasses even that of the most skilled alchemists and artifact masters."
"My ancestor once wrote in his travel journal about witnessing prodigies from top-tier sects, still in the Qi Training Stage, taking on beasts at the Foundation Establishment Stage, all thanks to the guidance of these Creation Spirit Masters."
At this point, Wang Yulun turned his intense gaze toward Xu Fan, his eyes so bright that Xu Fan almost felt blinded.
"And Brother Xu, you have the natural talent of a Creation Spirit Master."
"Those two spell jade slips you gave me—did you create them yourself? I’m certain that Que Tian Gate doesn’t have any attack techniques as powerful as those for someone at the Qi Training Stage."
"So, I want to become your disciple, Brother Xu."
With that, Wang Yulun stood up, ready to perform the ceremonial bow of a disciple to his master.
But just as he moved, a snake-like black shadow coiled around his feet, binding him tightly in an instant.
"Become my disciple? Not a chance. You’re already over 18—way too old for that," Xu Fan said lightly, his tone casual as he looked at Wang Yulun.
"Still, now that you know about my talent as a Creation Spirit Master…"
Xu Fan extended his index finger, a faint purple light glowing at its tip, and pointed it toward Wang Yulun’s forehead.
Wang Yulun’s heart raced. Was Xu Fan going to silence him to keep his secret?
"Brother Xu, you’re the person I trust the most. I swear I’ll never reveal your secret about being a Creation Spirit Master."
"Please, don’t kill me!" Wang Yulun blurted out, realizing he might have pushed too far.
"Kill you? Don’t be ridiculous. I’m just a low-profile outer disciple—I don’t go around killing people," Xu Fan said with a faint smile.
As he spoke, his finger tapped Wang Yulun’s forehead.
*Crack~*
A flash of purple light entered Wang Yulun’s mind, and he immediately fell into a strange, trance-like state.
Xu Fan pulled out a pocket watch, letting it swing slowly back and forth.
"You won’t remember what just happened. You won’t remember what just happened. You won’t remember what just happened…"
He kept repeating the words until Wang Yulun’s expression turned blank and dazed. Only then did Xu Fan release him from the trance.
"Brother Xu, what were we talking about just now?" Wang Yulun asked, shaking his head in confusion.
"You said you wanted to join the Jia Hall and learn a few Special Skills from me," Xu Fan replied casually, already digging into the plate of roasted meat in front of him.
"Right, I hope Brother Xu can help me with that," Wang Yulun said, standing up again to bow deeply.
Xu Fan sighed. Was this some ancient habit? Always bowing or kneeling.
"Alright, alright. It’s just a few tricks. I’ll help you—it’s no big deal," Xu Fan said dismissively.
He had already altered Wang Yulun’s memories about the Creation Spirit Master revelation. Even if someone brought it up in the future, Wang Yulun would simply overlook Xu Fan’s involvement.
The purple light that had touched Wang Yulun’s forehead was a technique Xu Fan had created by combining soul manipulation and mental illusion techniques.
The idea of being a Creation Spirit Master was tempting. Xu Fan had briefly considered heading to the central continent to showcase his talent and join the most powerful sect there.
But then he thought better of it. The journey to the central continent from Que Tian Gate was tens of thousands of kilometers long, filled with untold dangers. In the end, he decided it wasn’t worth the risk.
Better to stay low-key. After all, staying alive was the best way to grow stronger.
"Let’s eat first. No need to rush into learning those Special Skills," Xu Fan said, gesturing to the roasted meat.
"Okay," Wang Yulun agreed.
After a hearty meal, Wang Yulun left with a jade slip in hand, his belly full and his spirits high.
By then, it was already late at night.
Back in his room, Xu Fan pulled out a book filled with notes on world knowledge and jotted down what he had learned that day.
"This world is far more complicated than I thought. Que Tian Gate, which I once considered powerful, might not even rank among the top sects."
"Creation Spirit Masters… I’ve never heard of them before, but it makes sense."
"Spells in the cultivation world don’t just appear out of thin air."
*Uh~~Ge~~*
Xu Fan felt the effects of the alcohol kicking in.
"I’ll skip cultivation tonight. No point in pushing myself too hard—it doesn’t seem to make much difference anyway."
