Chapter 45: Meeting Ye Xiaoyao Again
As Xu Fan watched Pang Fu walk away, he started thinking about what he needed to prepare for the journey on the Floating Sky Ship.
"In half a month, I’ll be traveling on the Floating Sky Ship, and it’ll be a trip lasting about three to four months. Shouldn’t I prepare something?" Xu Fan muttered, stroking his chin as a complete plan formed in his mind.
"Before I leave, I need to finish refining the magical tools for my two disciples. If I’m gone for six months, that could cause problems."
That evening, after Xu Yuexian brought in the last dish, dinner began.
"Xu Gang, Yuexian, I’ll be going on a trip in half a month, and it’s expected to last four months."
"If you need anything, make sure to tell me in advance," Xu Fan said to the siblings.
"Master, can we come with you?" Xu Yuexian asked, her cute face filled with reluctance.
"Yeah, that way we can take care of you," Xu Gang added, equally unwilling to let him go.
Ever since the siblings learned to control spiritual energy two years ago, they had taken over almost all the household chores.
From serving tea and washing clothes to cooking meals and giving shoulder massages, Xu Fan had practically been living the dream retired life of a father with grown children.
"I don’t have a choice this time; I can only go alone," Xu Fan said, spreading his hands. If he had another spot, he would’ve loved to take the siblings along to broaden their horizons.
Seeing the sadness on their faces, Xu Fan patted their heads and said, "You’ve both grown up now; you can take care of yourselves."
"Besides, I’ll only be gone for a few months. It’ll pass in the blink of an eye, and I’ll bring you gifts when I return," Xu Fan reassured them, though he couldn’t help feeling a little reluctant himself.
"Then you have to come back early, Master," Xu Yuexian said, her big eyes glistening with tears.
"Of course," Xu Fan replied.
Five days later, Xu Fan called Xu Gang and Xu Yuexian over, holding two magical tools.
"Xu Gang, treasure vault number 234—this is your Spiritual Energy Armor. Remember to take it with you whenever you leave the sect."
"Yuexian, yours is number 235."
As he spoke, Xu Fan handed a spirit pearl to Xu Gang.
"This magical tool is called the Storage Spirit Pearl. Think of it as a second dantian I crafted for you."
"The spiritual energy stored in the Storage Spirit Pearl is about ten times your own capacity. Just make sure to regularly input your spiritual energy into it."
Next, Xu Fan pulled out a short sword and handed it to Xu Yuexian.
"Yuexian, this is the armor-breaking gold sword. If your opponent is at the Nascent Soul stage or below, and you can get close enough, this sword will pierce through their armor."
Compared to the Storage Spirit Pearl, this armor-breaking sword had taken a tremendous amount of Xu Fan’s time and resources to refine. He had realized that sometimes, the simplest things were the hardest to perfect.
"Thank you, Master," Xu Yuexian said, deeply moved as she accepted the armor-breaking gold sword. As a Qi Refinement Fourth Layer cultivator, she understood the significance of this weapon.
"No need to thank me. I’m taking care of you now, but you’ll have to look after me in the future," Xu Fan said with a warm smile.
Xu Gang and Xu Yuexian didn’t say a word but instead bowed deeply to Xu Fan in gratitude.
Fifteen days later, it was time for Xu Fan to board the Floating Sky Ship.
He handed each of his disciples a string of five-element spirit pearls.
As he looked at his weeping disciples, Xu Fan couldn’t help but feel like a father leaving his children behind.
“Alright, you’re both grown up now. Why are you crying? Don’t let others laugh at you,” Xu Fan said, with Pang Fu beside him to see them off.
“I just can’t bear to part with Master,” the siblings said sadly, truly reluctant to see Xu Fan leave.
“It’s not like we’re saying a final goodbye. I’ll be back in four months, so stop being sad.”
As the time approached, Xu Fan didn’t linger too long and flew directly toward the inner sect in the sky.
“Brother Pang, please take care of my two disciples,” Xu Fan transmitted.
“Don’t worry. If anything happens to Master Xu’s disciples, just ask me,” Pang Fu responded.
Xu Fan glanced at his two disciples one last time and then turned to fly into the sky.
Murong Qianer wanted to come with her child to see him off, but Xu Fan stopped her, saying she should just focus on taking care of the baby at home.
In the sky, Xu Fan followed the other disciples as they entered the largest white cloud leading to the inner sect.
Upon entering the cloud, Xu Fan saw the towering giant door, flanked by two dragon-like creatures welcoming guests.
“Riding a dragon costs 8,000 spirit stones, and we even offer a souvenir stone! It’s a rare opportunity!”
Accompanied by the dragon roars, loud voices rang out like thunder.
“Young disciples, is this your first time in the inner sect?”
“They say riding on a dragon will bring great opportunity!”
The dragon blocked Xu Fan as he was about to enter the giant door.
Looking at the massive dragon tail in front of him, Xu Fan raised his head and said, “Elder, while I really want to support your business, I don’t have that many spirit stones.”
His expression perfectly conveyed both longing and financial embarrassment.
Only a fool would spend 8,000 spirit stones to ride you. After being held back for so long, they’ve even lost their integrity.
Disappointed, the dragon let Xu Fan pass and began to look for the next client, thinking about whether they should develop new projects as business had been tough lately.
After showing the token for the Floating Sky Ship to the guards by the giant door, Xu Fan safely entered the inner sect and immediately saw the giant Floating Sky Ship hovering in mid-air.
The ship floated across the sky like a continent suspended in the air.
“One day, I will refine a giant treasure ship like that,” Xu Fan declared with ambition, aiming ultimately to create a spaceship that could travel beyond the Thousand Worlds.
Excited, Xu Fan boarded the long-awaited Floating Sky Ship.
At that moment, a familiar yet strange voice called out.
Hearing that voice, Xu Fan instantly felt as if he had fallen from heaven into hell.
“Junior Brother Xu, long time no see! You moved without saying a word,” Ye Xiaoyao exclaimed joyfully, looking at Xu Fan. After previously involving Xu Fan in trouble, he felt a twinge of guilt. Seeing Xu Fan again was like reuniting with a family member.
“I should be calling you Elder Ye now. I didn’t expect you to advance to the Golden Core Stage so quickly.”
Xu Fan felt a flood of emotions as if a hundred thoughts rushed through his mind; meeting this guy couldn’t lead to anything good.
Ye Xiaoyao threw an arm around Xu Fan’s shoulder happily and said, “What elder? We’re brothers, so let’s not be so formal.”
Xu Fan only had one thought in mind: find an opportunity to get off the ship.
Ye Xiaoyao directly took Xu Fan to the captain of the ship’s security.
“Boss, this is my brother, and he has a boarding token.”
“Can you arrange for a better room?” Ye Xiaoyao asked a cultivator wearing blood-red battle armor.
Xu Fan smoothly handed his token to the captain of security.
“That’s easy. There’s an empty room next to yours; let your brother stay there,” the captain said.
After checking Xu Fan’s token, the security captain inscribed a rune and returned it to Xu Fan.
“Thank you, boss,” Ye Xiaoyao said with satisfaction.
Then, he wrapped an arm around Xu Fan and led him away.
“Junior Brother Xu, let me show you around the Floating Sky Ship.”
“Tonight, the Floating Sky Ship will set sail; there will be spirit food served, and we should have a good drink then.”
Damn it, there’s no escaping now, Xu Fan thought bitterly.
