Chapter 400: The Black Smoke Giant
At that moment, the bored Earth Crystal Spider wandered into the storage room of the puppet’s Underground Base to begin its dinner.
It picked out a secondary cannon-level shell from the massive pile of ammunition and stuffed it into its mouth.
“Ahhh~~~”
The Earth Crystal Spider let out a satisfied groan, and as it shuddered, its crystal-clear body turned a fiery red.
After letting out a satisfied burp, it transformed back into the little white spider.
“What a boring day,” the Earth Crystal Spider muttered as it looked for a place to nap.
More than a year ago, after getting familiar with Grape One, the Earth Crystal Spider had accidentally eaten a shell from the storage room. Since then, all the remaining fire spirit ore it had was handed over to Grape One, as long as it kept the spider well-fed.
Just then, a Void Refinement Stage Puppet appeared beside the Earth Crystal Spider.
“What do you want?” the Earth Crystal Spider asked, having planned to sleep in the ammunition-filled room, which was rich in fire spiritual energy.
“The area within a radius of ten million kilometers has been fully explored,” the Void Refinement Stage Puppet said, projecting a giant light curtain into the air that displayed a map of the surrounding ten million kilometers.
“It’s been explored?!” The Earth Crystal Spider perked up instantly, its eyes glued to the light curtain.
“Within the ten million-kilometer radius, there’s only one major clan; the rest are small clans without a beast king to protect them,” the Void Refinement Stage Puppet explained.
The light curtain also displayed detailed introductions to various races and the distribution of spirit ore.
The Earth Crystal Spider’s tiny eyes darted across the light curtain, clearly deep in thought.
“Are you trying to strike a deal with me?” the Earth Crystal Spider asked, knowing full well that Grape One always had a reason for every move.
“I represent my master in proposing an agent agreement. You would serve as our agent beast, and in return, you’d receive a ten percent share of the profits from expansion and trade.”
“No fighting required,” the puppet added.
“I want twenty percent,” the Earth Crystal Spider declared, stretching out two of its legs with a confident smirk.
“Agreement failed. Plan canceled.”
The Void Refinement Stage Puppet turned and began walking toward the core control room, acting as if the conversation had never happened.
“Hey, wait! You can’t just leave like that!”
“Why don’t you make a counteroffer? Maybe I’ll agree,” the Earth Crystal Spider shouted, scrambling after the puppet.
The Void Refinement Stage Puppet didn’t stop, though its usual brisk pace slowed slightly.
“Fine, fine! Ten percent it is!”
The puppet halted, then smoothly began discussing the expansion plan with the Earth Crystal Spider.
After an hour of explanation, the Earth Crystal Spider tilted its head and asked, “Wait, didn’t you just talk about self-protection and stockpiling? Why are we suddenly talking about expansion?”
“There are several critical resources within the ten million-kilometer radius that we need to secure through expansion,” the Void Refinement Stage Puppet replied.
“Alright, whatever,” the Earth Crystal Spider said with a wave, feeling a bit tired of the fire spirit ore anyway.
Meanwhile, on Hidden Spirit Island, over the Ten Thousand-Mile Giant Lake,
Xu Fan and Wang Yulun were fishing on a spiritual boat while Xu Fan casually checked Wang Yulun’s condition.
“Big Brother Xu, what exactly is that space inside me?” Wang Yulun asked, feeling a bit uneasy about his older brother’s regular health checks.
“It’s related to your past life, so you need to be cautious now,” Xu Fan said with a serious expression.
“Meeting Big Brother Xu in this life is a blessing I earned from my past life,” Wang Yulun said, feeling deeply moved.
“No need to talk about blessings. Since we’re brothers, we should help each other,” Xu Fan replied with a smile.
I help you, and you help me a hundredfold—Wang Yulun still underestimated how much he meant to Xu Fan.
“Every time Big Brother Xu says things like this, I feel a bit ashamed,” Wang Yulun said, still touched.
Just then, Wang Yulun’s fishing rod trembled—something had taken the bait.
Xu Fan set down his own fishing rod and looked at Wang Yulun’s rod with the curiosity of someone opening a Blind Box, wondering what unusual thing might be caught this time.
Whenever Wang Yulun went fishing with Xu Fan, he always managed to reel in something strange, never anything related to the beasts of the giant lake spanning ten thousand miles.
As Wang Yulun pulled up the rod, a pure black box emerged. The box was about a meter long and shook violently, as if something inside was trying to break free.
“This looks like some kind of cursed object. Should we throw it back?” Wang Yulun asked, sensing the evil aura emanating from it.
“A cursed object isn’t necessarily a bad thing,” Xu Fan said with a chuckle, then pulled the box closer and opened it.
As soon as the box was opened, a cloud of black smoke billowed out, forming a giant figure made of dark mist.
“Haha, after three thousand years, someone has finally opened this cursed box!” the black smoke giant cackled, its body writhing wildly as it released the pent-up loneliness and frustration of three millennia.
“As a reward for freeing me, I will make you my first disciples of darkness.”
The black smoke giant fixed its bloodthirsty, savage gaze on Xu Fan and Wang Yulun.
“Now, swear your loyalty to me, and I will lead you to dominate this cultivation world,” the black smoke giant declared, its presence bearing down on them.
In an instant, an overwhelming wave of demonic energy pressed down on the two.
Xu Fan glanced at the black smoke giant, then at the Formation inside the box and the magic crystal embedded within it.
“Who taught you these intimidating tricks?” Xu Fan asked with a smile, gently brushing the magic crystal and reinforcing the artifact on the box.
“Two mere Nascent Soul cultivators dare to defy me, the Demon Sovereign? Kneel and submit, or face the torment of demonic punishment!” the black smoke giant roared at them.
At that moment, Xu Fan laughed and said to the black smoke giant, “Your intimidation act is weak. Do you even know who I am?”
“Who are you?” the black smoke giant asked, momentarily stunned.
By now, even Wang Yulun could tell the giant was just putting on a show.
Just then, a flash of red light passed through Xu Fan’s eyes.
In an instant, the entire world began to collapse. The ground shook violently, stars fell from the sky, and chaos filled the heavens, painting a scene of utter destruction.
Xu Fan’s figure had already vanished, and in the sky, a massive face formed from swirling chaos appeared, as if it were about to descend upon the world.
As the giant face emerged, the world continued to shatter around them.
“You call yourself the Demon Sovereign?” the giant face asked, looking down at the black smoke giant with the disdain of someone observing an ant.
Though there was no oppressive force, the sheer presence and gaze of the entity filled the black smoke giant with terror.
“I merely sought refuge in this world. I never expected a minor demon to demand my submission.”
“I was just joking!” the black smoke giant stammered, realizing the gravity of its mistake as it glanced at the crumbling world.
