Chapter 40: A Moment
Xu Fan led everyone into the largest room, which was set up as a reception room.
After everyone sat down, Xu Fan looked at the couple who often shared their sweet moments and remarked, “You two really went all out.”
“Did you find any other soul iron? I’ll buy whatever is left at market price,” Xu Fan said, noticing fresh earth on the piece of soul iron they brought, which meant it had just been dug up.
The couple exchanged glances, both shrugging their shoulders.
“We only found this piece and brought it all to you, Big Brother Xu,” Murong Qianer said softly, a hint of sadness in her eyes.
Xu Fan turned to Wang Yulun, who nodded in agreement.
“Didn’t you think about keeping half for some spirit stones? I remember you’re not exactly wealthy.”
“You two are too generous when you’re together,” Xu Fan sighed, realizing this was their way of repaying him for saving their lives.
“Haha, Big Brother Xu, just accept it,” Wang Yulun said. “You’ve been helping us all these years.”
“Now that we finally have a chance to repay you, we want to do our best,” Wang Yulun raised an eyebrow, looking a bit cheeky.
“I appreciate your kindness.”
“Here’s the deal: I’ll give you both a package, and you mustn’t refuse.” Xu Fan thought for a moment before speaking. With this piece of soul iron, many of his plans for artifact crafting could come to life. The leftover scraps would be enough to create two sets of precious artifacts for the couple.
“What package?” Wang Yulun, who often chatted with Xu Fan, already knew what he meant.
“An equipment and pill family bundle,” Xu Fan said with a smile.
“Before you reach the Golden Core Stage, I’ll cover all your treasures and pills.”
“I’m now a master-level dual expert in alchemy!” Xu Fan flashed a mysterious smile.
“Really? Thank you, Big Brother Xu!” Wang Yulun exclaimed in surprise. The treasures he received from Xu Fan were exceptional, greatly benefiting his and Qianer’s cultivation.
At that moment, Xu Gang entered with a plate of fruit.
“I found some fruit trees outside, and the fruits are at their best right now.”
“I brought some for you and the seniors,” Xu Gang said with a silly grin. During Xu Fan’s coma, his grandfather had told him many things about how to behave as a disciple of an immortal, which he had carefully remembered.
“That’s thoughtful. Go outside and play with your sister; lunch will be ready soon.”
Xu Fan noticed the food box artifact that Murong Qianer had placed on the table.
“Okay!”
Xu Gang happily ran out.
“He’s still a child,” Xu Fan chuckled, watching Xu Gang bounce joyfully away.
“Big Brother Xu seems very satisfied with these two disciples,” Wang Yulun commented.
“In terms of talent, these kids are just average.”
“But in the cultivation world, talent is just the starting point, not the endpoint,” Xu Fan reflected, silently adding, except for the exceptional and the protagonist.
“Big Brother Xu, since you’ve taken on two disciples, would you mind accepting another?” Murong Qianer asked.
Upon hearing his wife’s words, Wang Yulun just stood by, grinning foolishly.
“Another one?”
“Are you going to introduce someone to me?” Xu Fan asked, puzzled.
Wang Yulun, sitting beside Murong Qianer, happily patted her belly, and this simple gesture left Xu Fan feeling deeply wounded.
“Got it, just send the child over when they’re six years old.” Xu Fan grinned, forced to swallow some dog food. He regretted offering the family package so early; this couple was quite overwhelming.
“Thank you, Big Brother Xu!” Wang Yulun replied joyfully.
After chatting for a while, it was time to eat. They called in the siblings who were playing outside and, without any small talk, they began to enjoy their meal.
After a hearty feast, Xu Fan initially thought the young couple would return to their home for some sweet moments together, but seeing Wang Yulun’s hesitant expression, he realized there was more to come.
“With our relationship, just say what you need. No need to feel shy,” Xu Fan said, looking at Wang Yulun.
“Big Brother Xu, if you go all out, how long do you think I can last?” Wang Yulun asked. Now at Qi Refinement Layer Nine, while Xu Fan was at Qi Refinement Eighth Layer, he believed he could hold out for at least five breaths of time.
“Why are you asking such a strange question? This isn’t about time,” Xu Fan replied, surprised, thinking the kid was setting himself up for embarrassment.
“I just want to know how long we can last against your full power,” Wang Yulun insisted.
“This is a difference in dimensions. If I had to assign a time concept to it, I’d say it’s just a moment.” Xu Fan thought for a moment and said, defining a moment as approximately 0.018 seconds.
“A moment!” Wang Yulun felt insulted.
“To be precise, from the moment I looked at you, you had already lost,” Xu Fan said lightly, now finding no enemy of the same level was qualified to stand before him.
“Big Brother Xu, I consider you a brother, yet you insult me,” Wang Yulun said angrily, planning to rise and confront Xu Fan. He wanted Xu Fan to know he was no longer the same Wang Yulun from three years ago.
“Forget it, let’s go outside and have a spar. It’ll be good for broadening your perspective.”
With that, Xu Fan led the two out to the open ground where, under the control of Xu Fan’s earth attribute giant puppet, the area had transformed into a flat stone plaza.
Xu Fan and Wang Yulun faced off.
“Big Brother Xu, get ready. If you can’t defeat me in a moment, you’ll owe me an apology,” Wang Yulun said through clenched teeth, thinking he could withstand Xu Fan’s full strength with his Thousand Blades flying sword.
With his current strength, who below Golden Core could defeat him in just a moment?
“Not accepting defeat is not an option.”
With a snap of his fingers, a feather formed from spiritual energy appeared between the two and floated down to the ground.
Wang Yulun focused intently on the feather, his flying sword, seal, and immortal gourd ready to attack behind him.
Meanwhile, Xu Fan simply stood there, waiting.
As the feather neared the ground, Xu Fan warned, “Be mindful of mental attacks.”
“I know,” Wang Yulun replied, wearing a treasure specifically designed to defend against spiritual attacks around his chest.
At the moment the feather touched down, a crisp sound like shattering glass echoed, and Wang Yulun’s mental defense artifact shattered, leaving him in a daze.
“I can’t explain the difference in dimensions to you.”
“As punishment for your defeat, let’s see you dance and entertain everyone,” Xu Fan said with a mischievous grin.
Just as he finished speaking, ten stunningly beautiful women in extravagant clothing appeared as illusions around Wang Yulun.
Wang Yulun, whose expression had been vacant, suddenly began to look charming.
Then, captivating music began to play.
She is the gentle touch of the setting sun,
Wishing to be understood and appreciated.
He has a blue piece of cloud window,
Just waiting for someone to share it with.
…………..
Come and enjoy, after all, time is abundant.
Come, oh love, after all, there’s plenty of foolishness.
Come, oh wander, after all, there are countless paths.
Come, oh perform, after all, there’s ample grandeur.
With the music, Wang Yulun began to dance gracefully among the beautiful illusions, his enchanting and alluring movements even making Murong Qianer blush.
Watching Wang Yulun dance elegantly, Xu Fan stroked his chin and said, “It’s a shame there’s no Nation XX here.”
