Chapter 333: First Clone
In the underground space, Xu Fan listened to the recent developments of the Thick-Shell Honey Badger clan.
“Not bad, they’re starting to look like a great clan,” Xu Fan said while stroking his chin.
With the Iron-Eating Beast King overseeing them, along with Xu Fan’s continuous support, their clan had already dominated the surrounding areas.
“Seeing the plans from back then finally coming to fruition, now I just need to wait for the harvest.”
Xu Fan looked at the light curtain displaying the area occupied by the Thick-Shell Honey Badger clan and the distribution of spirit ore, thinking about how to collect it.
“Grape, let those mining puppets from the demon race get to work.”
“Understood.”
In Volcano Fairy Town, after successfully crafting two artifact-level parts, the first clone glanced at the spirit ore nearby and took out a communication artifact to notify Pang Fu to send more spirit ore for the tool puppet parts.
“Ah, I wonder how the main body is doing over at Nine Phoenix Island.”
“Having two protagonists with him, he better not be sacrificed,” the first clone said, sometimes worrying about what would happen if the main body was lost. Wouldn’t that mean the novels and anime he enjoyed would stop updating?
The first clone transformed into a servant of the deity and walked out of the first artifact crafting room.
He was once again surrounded but skillfully maneuvered his way through the crowd.
In a private room within the Artifact Hall, the Master of the Hall and the first clone were admiring a celestial tool.
“Brother, this is my first time seeing a celestial tool outside the top ten items of the Elder Council.”
“The artifact great masters truly are impressive,” the first clone exclaimed, staring in awe at the Nine-Dragon Dish on the shelf, his eyes sparkling as if he wanted to memorize every detail of the celestial tool.
“This was gifted to me by an old guy for self-defense; it’s not of much use right now.”
“I just wanted to come take a look while thinking about that old fellow,” the Master of the Hall said, his expression nostalgic, wondering what that old guy was up to in the Immortal Realm.
“With a father who is an artifact great master, he truly is invincible across realms.”
According to the Master of the Hall, there were nine hybrid true dragons within the Nine-Dragon Dish, each possessing the strength of a Great Ascension Beast Sovereign. It was said to be his father’s proudest celestial tool, and everyone assumed it had been taken to the Immortal Realm.
At that moment, the Master of the Hall clapped the first clone on the shoulder.
“Brother, it was worth having you come find me.” The Master raised an eyebrow with a smile, having interacted with Xu Fan (the first clone) several times, increasingly feeling that Xu Fan was the kindred spirit he had been searching for.
“Brother, I’ve shown you all my hidden cards; could I have a chance to appreciate the artifact-level tools you’ve recently crafted?” the Master inquired.
“There’s not much to see, just some artifact-level parts,” the first clone replied as he transformed the parts back to their original size.
“This artifact~”
The Master’s eyes lit up, and he began circling around the artifact-level part. As he lightly touched it, the Formation runes were revealed.
“Brother, if I’m guessing correctly, this is installed underground in your sect.” The Master exclaimed in surprise; this method using artifact-level tools as the core for the Formation was something he had never seen before.
“Exactly, the cultivation world hasn’t been peaceful lately, so I need some protection,” the first clone explained.
“Protection? This will do,” the Master waved his hand, sending the Nine-Dragon Dish flying into his hand before directly placing it into the first clone’s hands.
“Letting it gather dust here is worse than giving it to your sect,” the Master said nonchalantly, as if he were simply handing over a convenient item.
“This…” The first clone was momentarily stunned; this was not how things were supposed to go. I can’t just say I don’t have a car, and you actually give me a car to drive!
“Brother, I am not worthy of this. Let’s just forget it,” the first clone quickly replied, knowing that in the cultivation world, one’s actions had consequences. If he accepted this celestial tool, the karmic ties between them would likely endure even in the Thousand Worlds.
“Forget it, come with me to another secret chamber and have a look.”
The Master of the Artifact Hall, seeing the first clone refuse, placed the Nine-Dragon Dish back in its original spot.
In another chamber, the first clone had been staring at the Ten Thousand Sword Array Plate for quite some time, until the Master’s voice snapped him out of his trance.
“Brother, are you trying to show off your wealth?” the first clone said, taking a sharp breath. The celestial tool before him, the Ten Thousand Sword Array Plate, was even more extravagant than the Nine-Dragon Dish.
“Younger brother, you’ve got it wrong. You inspired me on my path as an artifact great master, so I thought I’d show you something extraordinary,” the Master said with a laugh.
“You’re right, Brother,” the first clone replied, his eyes gleaming as he stared intently at the Ten Thousand Sword Array Plate.
“This celestial tool hasn’t been claimed yet. Why haven’t you taken it for yourself, Brother?” the first clone asked curiously.
“This tool was given to me by an old man to help me forge a good connection. He said it would give me a chance to reach the peak.”
“To say those few words, the old man even paid the price of a celestial tool,” the Master explained.
“A good connection?” The first clone looked at the Ten Thousand Sword Array Plate, wondering who it was meant for. Was it for that old man and the young one, or the endlessly resourceful youth?
The first clone thought for a moment but then decided it wasn’t his concern.
“It’s just a matter of who catches my eye. If you like it, take it,” the Master said casually.
It seemed the more someone had, the less they cared about it.
“I’ll pass, Brother. I have to say, your father really spoils you.”
“……….”
After leaving the Artifact Hall, the first clone felt dazed. He was utterly stunned by the power of paternal love.
If someone had asked him before who the most extravagant person in the cultivation world was, he might not have had an answer. But now, he did.
A single Core Formation stage cultivator actually owned six celestial tools, all capable of automatic defense and autonomous attacks.
Thinking of the Master’s disdainful expression toward his father, the first clone felt as if he’d been struck by a wave of grandeur.
Outside Volcano Fairy Town, atop a high peak, the first clone stood quietly, watching the divine fire phoenix soaring above the town.
This was his favorite spot to visit when he wasn’t reading novels or watching anime.
“Limited freedom,” the first clone murmured. Since leaving Hidden Spirit Island, he had developed self-awareness, a consciousness separate from Xu Fan’s true self.
“Since gaining this self-awareness, I can no longer share the thoughts of the main body.”
“I wonder when I’ll be recalled for purification.”
The first clone gazed at the divine fire phoenix dancing above Volcano Fairy Town, slipping into a state of enlightenment.
Suddenly, the divine fire phoenix broke free from the town’s constraints and flew toward the first clone, diving straight into the center of his forehead.
Meanwhile, far across the Endless Sea, Xu Fan suddenly turned his gaze toward the central continent.
Xu Fan closed his eyes.
“Things are getting out of hand. The first clone must have stumbled upon something extraordinary,” Xu Fan said.
“Master, what’s getting out of hand? Do you need me to step in?” Xu Gang asked urgently, hearing that something was slipping from his master’s control.
“Your First Master is currently at Volcano Fairy Town. Go and bring him back,” Xu Fan said with a smile.
“Haha, how could I possibly match up to Master?” Xu Gang laughed.
