Chapter 33: Returning Home
An hour later, Xu Fan collected two identity tokens from the steward and guided the two awestruck children into Que Tian Gate.
Once inside, Xu Fan summoned the Spiritual Wind Boat and flew with the siblings toward his little hill.
“Wow, is this where immortals live?” the little girl marveled, gazing at the fairy city nestled among the mountains below.
“This is just the outermost part of Que Tian Gate. The cities below are built by wandering cultivators affiliated with our sect.”
“About 100 kilometers west is the Outer Sect, where you’ll live from now on,” Xu Fan explained gently, feeling a sense of novelty as he looked at his new disciples.
“Master, is it hard to become an immortal?” the little boy asked anxiously, worried he might fail and that Xu Fan might abandon him.
“Not at all. Both of you can become cultivators if you put your hearts into it,” Xu Fan reassured with a smile, appreciating the boy’s protective nature and honest personality.
“Can my sister and I eat meat every day?” the little boy finally blurted out his biggest concern, while the little girl stared at Xu Fan with wide, hopeful eyes.
“You can have meat with every meal if you like.”
By then, the Spiritual Wind Boat had entered the Outer Sect.
Xu Fan gestured into the air, and a paper crane made of spiritual energy runes flew from his palm, carrying a message to Pang Fu’s headquarters.
The message instructed him to care for the elderly in the fairy city and find them a peaceful place to live out their days.
“Huh, there are still people at my door.”
Xu Fan activated his Eagle Eye Technique to get a closer look.
At the same time, Wang Yulun seemed to sense something and turned toward the direction of Xu Fan’s spiritual boat.
“Big Brother Xu is back!” Wang Yulun exclaimed, leaping to his feet with tears of joy streaming down his face.
Before reaching his hill, Xu Fan heard Wang Yulun’s excited shout.
“Alright, alright, I’m fine. I’m sorry I missed your wedding,” Xu Fan said with a chuckle, amused by Wang Yulun’s childlike excitement.
Seeing his friend so worried warmed Xu Fan’s heart.
“It’s fine, it’s fine—as long as Big Brother Xu is safe.”
Wang Yulun suddenly remembered something and quickly pulled out a red envelope, handing it to Xu Fan.
“Big Brother Xu, here’s the red envelope you asked for.”
Xu Fan opened it to find it filled with golden leaves. For a moment, he was dazzled, but then the excitement faded, like a childhood dream that no longer held the same charm.
He tucked the red envelope back into his storage bag.
“Big Brother Xu, who are these two children?” Murong Qianer asked, wondering if they were from the fairy city, as bringing them to the Outer Sect might not be allowed.
“Oh, these are my new disciples.”
“They’re also the ones who saved my life,” Xu Fan added.
“Congratulations on taking in disciples, Big Brother Xu! Does this call for a celebration feast?” Wang Yulun asked with a grin.
“And congratulations on escaping danger and returning home safely,” Murong Qianer chimed in.
“It’s definitely time to celebrate,” Xu Fan agreed.
Xu Fan glanced at the nervous siblings beside him and asked, “Do you want to eat some meat?”
“Yes!” The siblings nodded eagerly.
Seeing the two dressed in tattered hemp clothes, Xu Fan reached out toward the protective barrier.
A small hole opened in the barrier, and two exquisite Fabric Transformation Balls flew out. These were basic treasures Xu Fan had crafted out of boredom, capable of transforming into any style of clothing.
The two Fabric Transformation Balls attached themselves to the siblings’ chests and began to change. In no time, the two children were dressed in beautiful Daoist robes.
“Big Brother Xu, what is this?” Murong Qianer asked with curiosity.
“This is the Fabric Transformation Ball I made when I was bored. It contains various materials that can instantly turn into any clothing style you want,” Xu Fan explained, having grown tired of the hassle of changing clothes.
“Big Brother Xu, can you give me one? I’ll pay with spirit stones,” Murong Qianer said shyly, clearly fascinated by the magical item. She had never seen such a treasure before.
“Mentioning spirit stones makes it sound like we’re strangers.”
Xu Fan then retrieved three more Fabric Transformation Balls from his collection room and handed one to Wang Yulun.
At Shang Ling Peak, inside the Drunken Immortal Tower, the siblings, now dressed in splendid Daoist robes, were happily munching on chicken legs, their faces filled with satisfaction.
“Big Brother Xu, what are the names of these siblings?” Wang Yulun asked, watching the children devour their chicken legs with curiosity. He felt it was too early to take on disciples.
In the world of cultivation, only those who reached the Foundation Establishment Stage could truly be called cultivators. Taking disciples before one’s foundation was stable could scatter one’s focus.
Xu Fan paused for a moment, looking at the siblings. He already knew the boy’s name was Little Tooth and the girl’s name was Little Grass.
“Little Tooth, do you and your sister have proper names?”
The boy, now halfway through his meal, looked at Xu Fan respectfully and said, “I don’t have a proper name. In our village, we only get names after collecting spiritual herbs.”
“In that case, you’ll take my surname.”
“You’ll be called Xu Gang, and your sister will be Xu Yuexian.”
Hearing Xu Fan’s words, the siblings quickly knelt down and said, “Thank you, Master, for giving us names.”
Their eyes now shone with even greater respect and affection for Xu Fan.
The meal lasted quite a while. When Xu Fan returned to his little hill, he found Pang Fu had been waiting for some time.
“Congratulations, Master Xu, on your safe return,” Pang Fu said with joy.
Half a month ago, when Pang Fu learned that Xu Fan was being hunted by a Golden Core cultivator, he had nearly cried. His entire plan depended heavily on Xu Fan, and losing him would have been like a bustling hotel suddenly losing its head chef.
“I escaped by sheer luck.”
Xu Fan led Pang Fu to the reception room, letting the siblings play outside on their own.
“The tasks you entrusted to me have been taken care of,” Pang Fu said. “I’ve made sure those two elderly folks will live out their remaining years in peace.”
As soon as he received Xu Fan’s message, he had immediately sent someone to inform the family in the fairy city.
“Thank you for your help.”
Xu Fan took out a miniature diamond-shaped flying shuttle artifact and handed it to Pang Fu.
“I noticed you don’t have a transport. Take this, and don’t refuse—otherwise, it’ll seem like we’re strangers,” Xu Fan said with a satisfied smile.
A flicker of surprise crossed Pang Fu’s eyes. Transport artifacts were quite rare, usually only owned by elite Qi Training Stage cultivators.
After accepting the diamond-shaped shuttle, Pang Fu pulled out a storage bag and handed it to Xu Fan.
“This contains the materials from your list. They’ve already started pressing me for them,” Pang Fu said, knowing that Ye Xiaoyao was a rising star in the sect and not someone he dared to offend.
“Alright, I understand. I’ll have it ready in five days. Make sure he prepares the soul iron.”
“By the way, I have another request: help me sell a few magical artifacts, all of them top-tier.”
As Xu Fan spoke, he brought out three more high-level magical artifacts.
“Each one costs 50,000 spirit stones. For custom treasures, prepare the materials, and it’ll be 40,000 spirit stones each,” Xu Fan said through gritted teeth. He needed a massive amount of spirit stones to build his puppet army.
