Chapter 317: The Strongest Path Among the Three Thousand Paths
The barracks slowly descended one hundred miles away from the Void Gate. Any closer, and they would be detected by the Nascent Soul stage beasts guarding the gate.
The massive doors creaked open, and three Light Energy Armors emerged, followed by rows of heavy armor puppets ready for combat.
“Jin Ling, initiate the Precious Artifact Satellite strike,” Li Xingci commanded calmly, as his Light Energy Armor slowly drew the Giant Sword from its back. This was the only weapon capable of killing Nascent Soul stage beasts.
The other two Light Energy Armors, piloted by Su Rantian and Spirit Cut, also readied their weapons.
Su Rantian wielded a Lightning Whip, while Spirit Cut brandished a Light Energy Blade.
“You two stay back and handle the smaller enemies. Leave the rest to me.”
At that moment, the aura emanating from Li Xingci’s Light Energy Armor began to shift, radiating an overwhelming sense of invincibility, as if declaring dominance over the entire realm.
"Impressive. This aura surpasses even my peak strength. Such an invincible presence is something only the respected figure in the cultivation world could possess," Spirit Cut remarked, clearly impressed.
"Even someone like you admires the respected figure?" Su Rantian asked, her curiosity piqued. She had always assumed that the Demon Sect cultivators would harbor resentment toward the respected figure.
"Of course! The respected figure could annihilate the Demon Sect at any moment. The fact that we still exist is solely due to their mercy," Spirit Cut replied, recalling the fear in his Sect Leader’s eyes whenever the respected figure was mentioned.
Li Xingci stood at the forefront, his Light Energy Armor poised for battle, while the heavy armor puppets prepared to follow his lead.
Suddenly, three light columns pierced the distant sky, crashing down onto the ground with a thunderous impact.
“ROAR!!”
The beasts guarding the Void Gate erupted in fury.
“Let the battle begin.”
Li Xingci charged forward, his Giant Sword in hand, leading the heavy armor puppets against the oncoming horde of beasts.
The perimeter of the Void Gate was teeming with Golden Core level beasts, but with the superior capabilities of the Light Energy Armor, Li Xingci effortlessly crushed them.
The Light Energy Armor moved through the beasts as if they were nothing, each swing of the Giant Sword cutting down any beast that dared to approach.
Su Rantian and Spirit Cut followed closely behind, their Light Energy Armors protected by the heavy armor puppets, leaving them with little need to intervene.
"What could have possibly turned this kid into such a skilled fighter overnight?" Spirit Cut mused, stroking his chin.
"Perhaps his master recognized his talent for controlling the armor and implanted a memory of how to operate it, allowing him to absorb the knowledge instantly," Su Rantian suggested, having already guessed the reason behind her husband’s sudden improvement.
As the three of them pressed forward, they soon entered the core area of the Void Gate.
Here, Nascent Soul stage beasts began to appear on the battlefield.
Spirit Cut felt a surge of excitement.
“Li boy, let me handle this one first. If I can’t manage, you can step in,” he said, itching for a fight.
"Senior Spirit Cut, just relax and watch from the back. If things get tough, cheer me on with a loud 666," Li Xingci replied with a hint of amusement.
With that, Li Xingci’s Light Energy Armor faced a charging Nascent Soul stage beast. He gripped the Giant Sword with both hands, executed a precise upward slash, then smoothly stepped back and delivered a decisive downward strike, severing the beast’s head.
The entire sequence was executed with such ease and precision, it was as if he had practiced it a thousand times.
Spirit Cut was left speechless.
"Honestly, this feels a bit strange," Spirit Cut admitted, a tinge of envy creeping into his voice.
Su Rantian simply smiled and remained silent.
Li Xingci’s Light Energy Armor made it seem like he was strolling through his own backyard; no beast could get past him all the way to the Void Gate.
By now, Li Xingci had slain all the Nascent Soul stage beasts on the battlefield, leaving only a few terrified creatures trembling on the ground.
The barracks had moved up from the rear and now stood right in front of the Void Gate.
Spirit Cut stared at the Void Gate, feeling a strange sense of disbelief. Could he really leave this world that had trapped him for over a century?
“Can we really get out?” Spirit Cut blurted out, unable to contain his excitement.
“If you’d like, Senior, you can stay here a bit longer, but my wife and I won’t be able to keep you company,” Li Xingci said with a grin, helping the heavily pregnant Su Rantian.
“Let’s go, my dear,” Li Xingci said.
“Alright,” Su Rantian replied sweetly.
Three sets of Light Energy Armor stood guard around the barracks, ready to fend off any sneak attacks from the Nascent Soul stage beasts.
As the three stepped out of the barracks, the Void Gate loomed less than five meters ahead.
Su Rantian and Spirit Cut turned to take one last look at the world they were leaving behind, but Li Xingci stopped them.
With one hand supporting Su Rantian and the other pulling Spirit Cut along, Li Xingci hurried toward the Void Gate, saying, “Master always said that at times like this, you mustn’t look back. It’ll only bring trouble.”
“Keep moving forward—no hesitation.”
With that, Li Xingci led them through the Void Gate.
Outside the barracks, dozens of invisible Nascent Soul beasts revealed themselves, roaring in fury as they watched the three disappear into the Void Gate. They turned their rage on the Light Energy Armors and puppets left behind.
Jin Ling, still in the Void Realm, glanced at the Light Energy Armors and puppets and said, “Mission accomplished. Initiate self-destruct protocol.”
On the Demon Continent, the trio’s arrival immediately triggered a swirling vortex of spiritual energy.
Spirit Cut, who had been an old man moments ago, began to transform under the nourishing energy, growing into a burly, bearded figure.
“Ha! I, Spirit Cut the Demon Sovereign, have finally returned!” he roared triumphantly.
Li Xingci and Su Rantian quickly regained their cultivation as well.
The spiritual energy whirlpool around Spirit Cut hadn’t yet dissipated, so Li Xingci handed him a large bottle of spiritual liquid to absorb.
“Li boy, thank you. From now on, I, Spirit Cut, will be your guardian,” Spirit Cut declared solemnly.
Li Xingci pulled out a blood-red heart core and tossed it to Spirit Cut.
“Senior, being a guardian is too much. I don’t want to tie you down,” Li Xingci said. Right now, all he wanted was to get back to the sect and check on his master.
“Nonsense! I, Spirit Cut, always keep my word. If I say I’ll be your guardian, then I will,” Spirit Cut insisted. Deep down, he felt that following this young man might be the new path fate had laid out for him.
“Senior, you’ve been away from the cultivation world for over a hundred years. You must have a lot to take care of. Once you’re done, if you still want to be my guardian, you can find me at Lin Sen Fairy City, by the Ten Thousand-Mile Giant Lake,” Li Xingci said.
“Ha! Well thought out, Li boy. Wait for me,” Spirit Cut said, then vanished in a flash of crimson light.
Meanwhile, Su Rantian, having restored her cultivation, had been quietly sensing her unborn child. She opened her eyes, frowning. “Our child has missed the optimal time for gathering spiritual roots. Even if he stays in my womb for another year, he’ll likely only have five spirit roots.”
“As long as he can cultivate, it’s fine. My master once said that among the Three Thousand Paths, there’s one supreme path—and anyone can walk it,” Li Xingci said with a reassuring smile.
“What path?” Su Rantian asked eagerly.
