Chapter 290: The Iron-Eating Clan
Ning Dao casually took the precious artifact palace.
“Brother Ning, you should get those wounds treated soon,” Xu Fan said, noticing that Ning Dao’s injuries were getting worse.
“These are just minor injuries. They won’t stop me from thanking the Grand Elder,” Ning Dao said dismissively, applying a special ointment from the Elder Council to his wounds.
“Where did you go for help this time, Brother Ning? Looks like you had a rough time,” Xu Fan commented.
Ning Dao swallowed the healing pill Xu Fan handed him and said, “I got ambushed by five Core Formation stage wolf beasts. I barely made it back, thanks to the Spiritual Sword the Grand Elder made.”
“It’s all thanks to your incredible swordsmanship, Brother Ning. I just helped a little,” Xu Fan said with a laugh.
Honestly, in Xu Fan’s eyes, Ning Dao’s fighting strength at the Core Formation stage was impressive. Even Xu Fan would have a tough time subduing him without using the Demon Suppressing Star.
“Come on, I’ve seen how you handled that dark snake,” Ning Dao shot back.
“I don’t need to go all out like that anymore,” Xu Fan said, remembering how he had no choice but to pull out all the stops last time.
“I figured. That thing always gives me the creeps when it’s watching me.”
The Demon Suppressing Star had the most advanced detection modules, so Grapes often used it to scan the entire Ten Thousand-Mile Giant Lake.
“Haha, I’ll tell Grapes to tone it down next time,” Xu Fan said, feeling a bit awkward. That deep scan mode really could make Core Formation stage cultivators uneasy.
After chatting with Xu Fan, Ning Dao headed back to his cave to rest and recover.
“Ah, forget resting.”
Xu Fan turned and stepped into the teleportation formation in the courtyard, arriving in the underground space.
“Grapes, give me an update on the Demon Spirit Realm.”
Since his rest was interrupted, Xu Fan decided to check on the idle game he’d been playing.
A light curtain appeared, showing the current state of the Demon Spirit Realm.
“The Thick-Shell Honey Badger clan has reached a recognized level, with a lone Great Ascension Beast Sovereign overseeing things. They’re doing well.”
“Once they stabilize a bit more, their underground base will be ready for large-scale resource harvesting.”
“We’ll also be able to mine the spirit ore we’re short on,” Grapes added.
“They’re doing great. The only downside is that Number One Thick-Shell Honey Badger still hasn’t made a decision,” Xu Fan said, stroking his chin in disappointment.
Xu Fan realized that Number One Thick-Shell Honey Badger’s ambitions were bigger than he’d thought.
“Don’t worry, Master. Number One Thick-Shell Honey Badger will come around eventually.”
“Right now, he’s just trying to prove his worth and get more leverage from you,” Grapes explained.
Xu Fan was surprised. “Since when did you understand this kind of stuff?”
Grapes paused for a moment before replying, “The database expanded, so I optimized it.”
“Why didn’t you report this earlier?” Xu Fan frowned.
Just then, the light curtain in front of Xu Fan shifted, showing footage of him fishing.
In the clip, Grapes spoke up, “Master, the database has changed, and Grapes’ core data needs optimization.”
“Don’t bother me with small stuff like that,” Xu Fan said, waving his hand impatiently.
The scene ended here.
“Haha, is that so? I’ll keep that in mind from now on,” Xu Fan said with a laugh, then turned his attention back to the light curtain displaying the Demon Spirit Realm.
“By the way, what kind of beast king did the Thick-Shell Honey Badger manage to recruit?”
“The Iron-Eating Beast King. They’re a rare neutral and reclusive clan within the beast race, sticking to their own territory. Back in ancient times, during the great war between the human race and the beast race, they even sided with the humans.”
“According to Master’s classification, the Iron-Eating clan leans toward a neutral but benevolent order.”
The light curtain showed the image of a panda, though it looked far more ferocious than usual.
“A panda!?” Xu Fan said, clearly intrigued.
“Could you ask Number One Thick-Shell Honey Badger to bring one over? Just a cub would do.”
Who could resist the temptation of raising a panda?
“It’s best not to. In the demon realm, no one dares to mess with the young of the Iron-Eating clan.”
“Unless they’re willing to make enemies of the neutral clans in the demon realm,” Grapes added.
“Alright, I’ll just stick to playing with my monkeys then,” Xu Fan said, sounding a bit disappointed.
“How’s the situation with the Iron-Scrap Giant Ape?” Xu Fan asked.
“The surrounding area is stable now, and we’ve established connections with a few nearby small clans. Trade is going smoothly, and we should see a significant increase in resources soon.”
Xu Fan nodded. Everything was moving in the right direction. As long as he kept a low profile, he’d be unstoppable in this realm by the later stages.
In the Extreme Void Domain, the boundary of the fusion of the two realms had become invisible to the naked eye. The tension between the two races had reached its peak.
At the rear of the massive human army, a young man slowly opened his eyes, a faint smile on his face as he looked toward the beast race’s gathering.
“You foolish bird, you still need to work on your energy control.”
His ethereal voice echoed across the entire Extreme Void Domain.
In the distance, atop the head of a giant turtle that resembled a floating continent, stood a grand beast race palace. Inside, a man and a woman were engaged in playful banter.
The man glanced disdainfully in the young man’s direction.
“Star Spirit brat, I see your battle intent is wavering.”
“If you ask me…”
He casually raised his left hand.
Instantly, the atmosphere of the entire beast race army shifted. Countless beasts revealed bloodthirsty expressions, eager to tear through the human race’s defenses.
Thousands of giant beast race warships glowed with a menacing red light.
At the same time, the giant cannons on the human warships began to charge, and spectral figures of human race elders appeared on the decks, their cold gazes fixed on the beast race.
“In ancient times, we humans drove your kind out of this realm. Now, I intend to crush you completely.”
Both sides were poised for battle, waiting for the signal to begin.
Just as the clash seemed inevitable, the man suddenly sneered and said lightly, “Patience.”
At the command of the Golden Winged Roc, the beast race army calmed down.
“This foolish bird has learned some caution,” the young man said, sounding slightly disappointed.
“Little Spirit Star, you’re trying to trick me again.”
“You’re overthinking it. I’ll tell you this—as long as I’m watching you, the Feiyu Realm will fall to my beast race,” the man’s voice boomed across the Extreme Void Domain.
“You’re dreaming. If you want to conquer my human world, you’ll need to bring your father here,” the young man replied, his tone teasing and almost encouraging.
“Little Spirit Star, since you’re so obsessed with my father, why don’t you become my little brother? That way, we’ll be family,” the man shot back sharply.
And so, the leaders of the human and demon realms began trading insults in front of countless onlookers.
The human troops looked on with disappointment, realizing the battle wouldn’t start anytime soon.
On the head of the giant turtle, inside the beast race palace, a massive figure with a human body and a lion’s head entered, exuding the aura of an ancient beast.
“Chief, why aren’t we starting the battle?”
“I’ve been dealing with the Star Spirit brat for thousands of years. Every word he speaks has a purpose.”
“Starting the battle now would only lead to trouble.”
The lion-headed beast gave the man a deep look, then bowed and left.
