Chapter 283: Path-Guarding Puppet
The Tianji Turtle noticed Xu Fan’s shocked and helpless expression and let out a soft croak.
“Alright, no need to comfort me,” Xu Fan said.
Xu Fan scanned the entire Hidden Spirit Island and muttered, “Looks like the plan needs to be moved up.”
Just then, ripples of energy swept through the underground space as artifacts began to form.
Xu Fan got the news and hurried to the underground space.
“Perfect, with this, we can afford to raise those six Dragon Eggs,” Xu Fan said with a smile, eyeing the spirit pearl.
“Good thing we prepared two sets of spirit pearl materials back then.”
“Master, I feel like my artifact crafting skills have hit a bottleneck. I can’t improve further at the Golden Core Stage,” the first clone said.
“I sensed that, so I found you a great spot with divine fire, and there’s also a good big brother there,” Xu Fan said with a grin, sharing his memory of meeting the Master of the Artifact Hall.
The first clone narrowed his eyes, absorbing the memory, and then said slowly, “Using that divine fire to craft artifacts should speed things up a bit.”
There was a hint of excitement in his tone.
“From now on, you’ll craft artifacts there. It’ll be faster, and you’ll have more time to relax and enjoy yourself,” Xu Fan said. With the good big brother around, the first clone wouldn’t feel too lonely.
“Got it,” the first clone nodded.
“Don’t worry about me; I’ll grab some stuff from the treasury and head out,” the first clone added.
Xu Fan waved his hand, signaling that it was fine as long as the mission was accomplished.
At that moment, a red beam of light shot into the Hidden Spirit Sect from outside.
“Ah, my disciple’s days of flaunting love are starting,” Xu Fan remarked with a smirk.
……………….
Outside the Fairy City of Wanhu, on a large island, Xiong Li looked helplessly at the woman chasing him. This time, unlike with Zhuang Ling, he really couldn’t handle her.
‘Duang~~’
A beam of sword light struck Xiong Li’s true form, sending him flying into the distant lake.
A woman in a pink long dress, with a dignified and graceful presence, appeared in the air.
“Wanshi, return to the Joyful Union Sacred Land, and I’ll forgive you for harming my little sister,” the woman said lightly, gazing down at the lake.
“Will I even survive if I go back with you?” Xiong Li resurfaced from the lake, staring at the woman in the sky.
But his mind was elsewhere, recalling a piece of trivia shared by a junior brother in the sect.
The skirts of flying fairies are just for show; they wear pants underneath.
Xiong Li shook his head, brushing off the odd thought.
“If you agree to become my little sister’s cultivation partner, I’ll let this matter go,” the woman said seriously.
In the Joyful Union Sacred Land, finding a suitable cultivation partner was crucial, even more so than cultivation itself.
“My heart is set on the path. I have no intention of becoming anyone’s cultivation partner,” Xiong Li replied lightly.
“Then don’t blame me, my future brother-in-law,” the woman said, determination flashing in her eyes.
Her strong little sister had always been picky; none of the young talents from the sects had ever caught her eye. Now that she finally liked someone, as her older sister, she had to make sure her little sister got what she wanted.
A bell with a red thread appeared behind the woman.
‘Ding Ling~~~’
The dreamy sound of the bell echoed, like a lover whispering in the ear.
Xiong Li felt a moment of dizziness; when he came to, he found a delicate Spiritual Sword lodged in his chest.
In an instant, Xiong Li felt his blood and spirit being drained by the sword.
Just as Xiong Li was about to pass out, a Golden Core Stage puppet appeared in front of him.
“Thanks for the save, Grape,” Xiong Li assumed Grape was controlling the sect’s puppet.
Meanwhile, in the Hidden Spirit Sect, Xu Fan said with interest, “Let’s see how skilled the top talent of the Joyful Union Sacred Land really is.”
“Who’s controlling this puppet?” the woman frowned, using her Sword Control Technique to try and retrieve the Spiritual Sword from Xiong Li’s chest.
“Path-Guarding Puppet, at your service. Call me Sword One,” Xu Fan casually made up a name.
The puppet quickly formed hand seals, and a phantom sword appeared, severing the woman’s connection to the Spiritual Sword and slowly pulling it out of Xiong Li’s chest.
“Rest easy, I’ll handle things from here,” Xu Fan said gently, looking at Xiong Li, who was on the verge of passing out.
“Thank you, Grand Elder, for saving me!” Xiong Li said gratefully before collapsing.
“Path-Guarding Puppet, are you from the Heavenly Refining Sect?” the woman asked.
“No,” the puppet replied, then vanished into thin air, still holding the woman’s Spiritual Sword.
A red protective shield formed around the woman, and a pink ribbon swirled around her as she searched for the puppet.
“Little girl, your sense of space needs work,” a voice teased.
A sword struck down from above, piercing the shield and tapping the woman’s forehead with the Spiritual Sword before retracting and disappearing.
“I admit defeat,” the woman said, then flew off toward the fairy city.
Xu Fan maneuvered the puppet to appear beside Xiong Li.
“I should’ve just used the Five Elements Divine Technique to end it quickly. This was no fun,” Xu Fan muttered, a bit regretful.
“Grape, take over the puppet and get Xiong Li to safety,” Xu Fan ordered.
Just as Xu Fan was about to withdraw his focus, a loud roar echoed in the distance, and three Transformation Stage dark snakes charged toward Xiong Li.
“They’re asking for it,” Xu Fan said dismissively, watching the dark snakes.
“Grape, initiate the Heavenly Strike.”
“Understood.”
High above, a Celestial Machine Weapon Satellite released three Alloy Gravity Rods as lightning flashed. The rods shot downward.
Xu Fan controlled the puppet to quickly activate a short-distance teleportation formation; the spatial anchor had already been sent out.
With a flash of light, the puppet and Xiong Li vanished.
‘Boom!!!’
The mountains crumbled, and the earth split open as the three Alloy Gravity Rods pierced the dark snakes, burying them deep in the ground.
On a hillside hundreds of kilometers away, the puppet carrying Xiong Li looked back.
“Strong single-target attack, but too much collateral damage. Next time, I’ll try a focusing cannon,” Xu Fan said.
Then he shook his head, realizing this method was still the most cost-effective.
Xu Fan refocused as he sensed his first clone had arrived in Volcano Fairy Town.
In Volcano Fairy Town, the Master of the Artifact Hall led the first clone into a massive artifact crafting room.
“Little brother, this is the largest artifact crafting room in our Artifact Hall. Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to change,” the Master said cheerfully.
“It’s perfect, thank you, Brother,” the first clone said, smiling as he looked around the hundred-meter-high room. He felt a sense of importance he’d never experienced before.
“I’ve given you full access to the divine fire, but with your current cultivation level, it’s best to use only ten percent of its power. Any more might be too much for you,” the Master added.
“Thanks for the advice, Brother.”
