Chapter 267: The Escaping Xiong Li
Ten thousand miles away from Xiu Yun Fairy City, in a hidden lair of the beast race, a young Golden Core Stage cultivator named Zheng Fei was setting up a defense tower alongside a beautiful female cultivator with fair skin.
“Brother Zheng, are you setting up a formation?” the lovely woman asked curiously.
“Yes, but not entirely,” Zheng Fei replied. “You’ll see soon.”
Zheng Fei glanced at his intended cultivation partner. Though they hadn’t spent much time together, he found their relationship surprisingly pleasant—far less calculated than he had imagined.
Under the curious gaze of the female cultivator, Zheng Fei completed the tower formation. “Alright, now it’s showtime for the defense towers,” he said.
With a wave of his hand, Zheng Fei activated the formation. Instantly, the tower formation surrounding the beast race’s hideout sprang to life. Over fifty defense towers transformed into their original forms, encircling the entire area.
“Boom~~”
A beam of light shot out from one of the defense towers, leaving the woman wide-eyed in astonishment. A bird-shaped puppet soared into the sky.
“Roar~”
A lion’s roar echoed, shaking the entire hidden lair of the beast race. Dozens of Nascent Soul Stage golden lions burst out from their hiding spot, only to find themselves trapped within the tower formation.
“Brother Zheng, will this tower formation hold?” the lovely woman asked.
“Just watch,” Zheng Fei said with a confident smile.
The defense towers lit up with spiritual energy, illuminating the grand formation. A red beam shot from one of the towers, setting off a chain reaction like a string of firecrackers. Countless icy-blue rays swept across the formation, and a wave of cold air began to spread.
“Ice-type defense towers are the best for this,” Zheng Fei explained to the woman beside him. “Freezing those beast race members maximizes their value.”
“Brother Zheng, you’re amazing,” the woman said, her eyes filled with admiration. “Not only are your abilities impressive, but your mastery of formations is remarkable too.”
Zheng Fei chuckled. “There’s a lot more to me than you’ve seen. I’ll show you more as time goes on.” He couldn’t help but feel that having such a partner by his side was a blessing.
As the roars of the golden lions grew weaker, Zheng Fei increased the attack frequency of the defense towers. Half an hour later, under the watchful eye of the bird puppet, all the golden lions had been frozen solid.
With a final wave of his hand, Zheng Fei recalled the defense towers. Dozens of them rose from the ground, shrinking to the size of his thumb before returning to his body.
“Brother Zheng’s formation is really impressive,” the woman said, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Zheng Fei, hoping he would share its origins.
“It’s decent, but compared to the other brothers in the sect, I still have a lot to learn,” Zheng Fei replied humbly.
In the Hidden Spirit Sect’s defense tower lineage, his strength was only average.
“Then Brother Zheng’s sect must be quite powerful,” the beautiful woman asked.
“Just a hidden small sect, nothing worth mentioning,” Zheng Fei said, waving his hand dismissively.
“Can I know the name of Brother Zheng’s sect?”
“There’s no harm in telling you, but you probably haven’t heard of it.”
“Have you heard of the Wind Spirit Moon Shadow Sect?” Zheng Fei said without hesitation.
It was as if there was an unspoken agreement. When members of the Hidden Spirit Sect traveled outside, they always used false names and a fabricated sect.
But somehow, this fake sect had become unified, perhaps due to the hardships they endured in the trial tower.
“Wind Spirit Moon Shadow Sect,” the woman silently committed the name to memory.
In the Joyful Union Sacred Land, within the main hall of the General’s Tomb.
A handsome man was staring blankly at the intelligence report in front of him.
“Someone is scheming against our female disciples from the Hero’s Tomb.”
“Wind Spirit Moon Shadow Sect, who exactly are you? Do you think the Joyful Union Sacred Land has no one to stand against you?”
“Since you dare to use your sect’s talented disciples as bait, don’t blame me for what comes next,” the sect leader said.
“Notify the female disciples on missions; they are permitted to use charm techniques. It would be a waste not to recruit so many talented disciples.”
The handsome man continued to study the targets of the female disciples from the Hero’s Tomb.
“Whether the sect truly doesn’t know or not, these disciples all have solid foundations.”
The handsome man remarked as he looked over the information in his hands.
“A genius-level disciple at the Golden Core Stage managed to subdue Zhuang Ling. What a promising candidate.”
The man glanced at the light shadow diagrams of Xiong Li and Zhuang Ling.
“Honestly, they do seem quite well-matched,” the man chuckled.
In the Stone Domain Fairy City, amidst the ruins of a shattered mountain.
“Zhuang Ling, how can you let me go?” Xiong Li asked helplessly, looking at Zhuang Ling.
Zhuang Ling clung to Xiong Li’s hand and stubbornly declared, “If you defeat me, I’ll be yours.”
“What you said earlier was that I could do whatever I wanted with you, not this!!” Xiong Li protested.
Without using his trump cards, he found himself overpowered by Zhuang Ling, and using his full strength against a female cultivator didn’t sit right with him.
Even though this female cultivator was stronger than him.
“I don’t care; from now on, I’m yours.”
The adoration in Zhuang Ling’s eyes sent a shiver down Xiong Li’s spine.
It wasn’t that he disliked Zhuang Ling’s appearance; it was just that someone like her had never crossed his mind before.
“Why don’t we fight again? If you win, I’ll follow you.”
“If you lose, you’ll obediently return to the Joyful Union Sacred Land,” Xiong Li said.
“I won’t fight; anyway, I’m already your woman,” Zhuang Ling replied.
Seeing Zhuang Ling’s stubbornness, Xiong Li suddenly felt a murderous impulse to silence her.
As soon as this thought arose, Xiong Li swiftly suppressed it; after all, it was different from dealing with the beast race, where one could kill freely.
“Then don’t blame me.”
After Xiong Li finished speaking, a phantom of the Giant Spirit wielding twin hammers appeared behind him.
“Are you going to kill me to keep me quiet?!” Zhuang Ling exclaimed in shock.
Xiong Li sneered and thought, You underestimate me too much.
The Giant Spirit phantom slammed one of its hammers into the ground.
“Boom~”
The shockwave sent Zhuang Ling flying, while Xiong Li quickly escaped toward the fairy city.
If you can’t provoke me, then can’t you avoid me?
After being knocked down, Zhuang Ling lay on the ground, briefly dazed, before slowly waking up.
After looking around and finding no sign of Xiong Li, she let out a soft sigh.
“Since the establishment of our Hero’s Tomb lineage, no man has ever escaped from our grasp,” Zhuang Ling said.
On Hidden Spirit Island, Xu Fan listened to the events between Xiong Li and Zhuang Ling, finding it very interesting.
“It’s not without reason that Zhuang Ling likes Xiong Li.”
“Compared to those average cultivators, this big figure makes them look like little chicks; how could she possibly like him?”
“Only a real man is worthy of a strong woman, but in the end, it will be a case of misplaced affections.”
Xu Fan sighed for the hardships Zhuang Ling will face in pursuing true love.
“Master, the Joyful Union Sacred Land has discovered our plan.”
Then, Grape explained the entire situation to Xu Fan.
“Damn the Wind Spirit Moon Shadow Sect,” Xu Fan cursed, not having anticipated that casually mentioning a name in a game would cause such unity among the disciples.
In the trial tower of the Hidden Spirit Sect, there is a unique game called Invincible Sect.
Once this game is entered, it randomly produces an invincible cultivator of the same level as the challenger from the sect.
