Chapter 190: The Spirit Heart Ore Appears Again
Xu Fan glanced at Li Xingci, who was trapped in an illusion, and sneered, "You think you can mess with me? You’re not ready yet."
Just then, his two avatars, who had been out working, returned, both giving Xu Fan a look of resentment.
"Remember the whole eight-hour workday promise?"
"Get back to your positions, quick," Xu Fan said, his tone as dismissive as a scoundrel.
No more talk; just get moving.
The two avatars rolled their eyes at Xu Fan and then turned into a mysterious light, slipping back into Xu Fan’s body.
Xu Fan quickly sat cross-legged to start processing the feedback from his avatars.
An hour later, he slowly opened his eyes.
"Didn’t expect Avatars One and Two to work so well together; they’ve at least doubled their efficiency."
"Seems like there’s still some value to squeeze out of them."
At that moment, Xu Fan looked every bit the ruthless capitalist.
"Grape, what’s the situation over there?"
"No spatial fluctuations from the beast race teleportation formations detected yet. Three guards have arrived in Tianquan Kingdom."
"Alright, to be safe, let’s move 20% more Precious Artifact Satellites into the area," Xu Fan thought for a moment and then said.
"Understood," Grape replied.
Above Lin Sen Fairy City, more than half of the Precious Artifact Satellites began to move, and Grape allocated 1% of its computing power over Tianquan Kingdom.
"Seems like the beast race has gotten smarter," Xu Fan mused, stroking his chin.
"Ah, worrying too much won’t help."
"Better to focus on getting those artifact-level Precious Artifact Satellites made sooner."
With that, Xu Fan headed to the underground space.
In the artifact crafting room there, he took out the spirit ore Pang Fu had sent and started refining it.
He didn’t have all the materials for the artifact-level satellites yet, but that didn’t stop him from prepping the spirit ore.
"Better do some of this myself, or those two avatars might just revolt."
He had planned to leave this task to his avatars, but considering how hard they’d been working lately, he decided to handle it himself today.
The next day, as noon approached, the first-generation disciples had gathered in front of the Hidden Spirit Sect’s trial tower, all waiting for the second Battle Royale to start.
"Today, I’m going to redeem myself."
"This time, I’m only taking out puppets."
"Any puppet that can fire a cannon is going down."
Now, the disciples weren’t just aiming to win; those puppets were their real targets.
Watching the live feed, Xu Fan chuckled, "Let’s see if they’ve improved this time."
In the end, he couldn’t resist passing the task to his two avatars, which took a toll on his mental energy.
The competition has started, and this time, all the disciples are being extra cautious, almost maxing out their sensory abilities.
They lasted noticeably longer than the last time, but in the end, they still couldn’t outwit the deeper strategies at play.
"Since ancient times, deep emotions can’t hold people’s hearts; only cunning strategies can," Xu Fan mused, quoting the timeless proverb as he sighed at the lack of progress among his disciples.
The winner this time was Qian Bing, while Xiong Li’s puppet was blasted from a distance.
Xiong Li stepped out of the trial tower and looked at Qian Bing, admitting, "This time, I lost."
Though he came in second, Xiong Li wasn’t too upset—as long as he didn’t die at the hands of a puppet, it was fine.
Once the top disciple of the sect, he had fallen far from his former glory.
"Progress is slow, but it’s manageable," Xu Fan noted.
"The next step is to refine the strategies further."
As Xu Fan pondered deeper tactics, Grape’s voice chimed in.
"Master, we’ve tracked and destroyed four teleportation formations of the beast race."
"Good, keep it up," Xu Fan replied.
In Tianquan Kingdom, near a freshly destroyed crater, a hidden giant snake slithered away in frustration, knowing it was no match for the three Elder Council guards stationed there.
Demon Realm, Wan Chong Mountain Range.
By now, the underground space of the Puppet Base had been expanded significantly.
Five thousand meters below ground, three puppet production lines were running at full speed, with tool puppets delivering spirit stones to the lines nonstop.
Every five minutes, three purple demon iron puppets rolled off the production line, ready to dive back into excavation work.
At seven thousand meters underground, a type-one excavator puppet, its head topped with a glowing green metal sphere, drilled deeper into the earth.
"Wonder if this’ll boost mining efficiency," Xu Fan muttered as he operated the puppet.
Suddenly, the excavator puppet hit a hard outer wall.
Xu Fan, controlling the puppet, perked up immediately.
"Jackpot!"
He switched the puppet to digging mode and began excavating along the wall.
Half an hour later, the puppet finally found an entrance in the outer wall.
"Let’s see what’s inside," Xu Fan said, rubbing his hands in anticipation.
The sphere on the excavator’s head switched to illumination mode, flooding the underground space with light.
As Xu Fan entered the chamber, he was greeted by the sight of a massive demon corpse—a white tiger, at least ten thousand meters long.
"I’ve never heard of such a beast race or Divine Beast in the demon realm," Xu Fan remarked, stunned.
He circled the mysterious creature with the puppet, using the Shadow Technique to record it.
"No external injuries, and its expression looks natural. Judging by the time, this chamber’s been buried for at least ten thousand years."
Xu Fan lifted the white tiger’s eyelid to examine its eye.
"The preservation of this demon corpse is impressive," he said, giving the beast’s belly a firm pat. It still had some elasticity.
"I’ll leave this place for now and figure out what this thing is later."
After sealing the entrance with the puppet, Xu Fan continued exploring the surrounding area.
"Grape, do you have any records of a demon corpse like this?" Xu Fan asked.
"No, but it’s definitely a renowned great beast among the demon race," Grape replied.
"Only the most famous great beasts grow to this size."
"Then I’ll ask the Elder Council about it when I get back."
After a while, the type-one excavator puppet returned to the main base, its spirit stones depleted and in need of recharging.
"Grape, report on the other detection puppets’ findings," Xu Fan said.
"Today, we discovered a small Spirit Heart Ore vein and a small spirit stone vein," Grape reported.
Xu Fan’s eyes lit up at the mention of Spirit Heart Ore.
"How much is the yield?" he asked.
"Estimated at around 10,000 pounds."
"Fantastic! That’s enough to craft a thousand special Transformation Stage puppets!" Xu Fan exclaimed. Over the years, Pang Fu had only managed to gather a little over a hundred pounds of Spirit Heart Ore, all of which had been used to upgrade Grape.
"Master, can you save some for me?" Grape asked.
"Fine, I’ll set aside 500 pounds for you."
