Chapter 167: Retreat

The entire defense line was packed with giant cannons and heavy rending machines, while the sky was filled with countless self-destruct drones.

Every hundred meters along the defense line, there was an artifact version of an electromagnetic cannon.

At this moment, Big Niu and a group of rescued mortals started running toward the sheep-selling town to warn the townspeople to flee.

The iron-like immortal had warned them that if they couldn’t hold off the beast race, the sheep-selling town would surely be attacked.

Now, a wave of shadow wolves appeared dozens of miles away. For these beasts, such a distance could be covered in the time it takes to drink a cup of tea.

“The target is entering the attack zone. Open fire with full force now.”

As soon as Grape gave the order, the battlefield erupted with thunderous noise as thousands of giant cannons fired. The heavy rending machines, operated by puppets, added to the deafening roar.

In the sky, the commanding Void Refinement stage shadow wolf looked at the puppets unleashing their firepower in the distance and sneered.

“Interesting. Our shadow wolf clan’s collective law form is no joke.”

“Ancestral Wolf Law Form!”

The Void Refinement stage shadow wolf’s voice echoed across the battlefield. Suddenly, a blue glow emanated from the ground and around the shadow wolves, growing more intense.

Finally, a thousand-meter-tall shadow wolf law form materialized in the sky, colliding with the incoming attacks.

“Recording: The beast race law form possesses both physical and magical defensive capabilities.”

“Now testing the maximum defensive ability of the law form. Concentrate all ten Type Three electromagnetic cannons on a single point.”

“Boom~”

Ten giant cannons, each over ten meters long, fired simultaneously.

“Bang~~”

The entire shadow wolf law form shuddered but continued charging toward the puppet defense line alongside the wolf pack.

At this moment, over a hundred electromagnetic cannons in the puppet position began adjusting their barrels.

The combined bombardment tore a large hole through the shadow wolf law form.

Meanwhile, in the Hidden Spirit Sect’s time chamber, Grape’s voice rang out again.

“Requesting authorization from the master for twenty percent computing power access.”

“Granted. Allow thirty percent access.”

“Looks like the battle is intense,” Xu Fan said, straining. He was still more than ten days away from his promotion but hoped he could hold on.

“Core Formation stage fighting strength detected. Currently, four Celestial satellites and twenty laser cannons have been mobilized, along with reinforcements from the Elder Council.”

“It is estimated that we can suppress this wave of beasts,” Grape’s Electronic Voice replied calmly.

“Proceed. At least hold the line for twenty days,” Xu Fan instructed.

“Understood.”

At the same time, twelve members of the Elder Council had already entered the borders of Wansheng Nation.

“Elders, the Hidden Spirit Sect received the news before us. Should we visit them after this is over?”

“The Grand Elder of the Hidden Spirit Sect is a master craftsman-level genius,” remarked an Elder Council Void Refiner.

“What’s the deal? You eyeing the council’s recommended rewards?” said the person standing at the front of the flying boat.

“The council’s short on artifact crafting talent right now, and the Grand Elder of the Hidden Spirit Sect has probably already set up a puppet production line.”

“Right now, there are at least a million of his puppets lurking around the Lin Sen Fairy City area.”

The steward’s words caught the attention of the Core Formation stage cultivators from the Elder Council, but at the same time, they noticed the massive Shadow Wolf law form towering in the distance.

Seeing this, the two Core Formation stage cultivators from the Elder Council on the flying boat smirked.

They recognized it as the Wolf Clan’s unique group technique.

The Wolf Clan was a third-rate race in the demon world, with only one beast king, and even he was the weakest of his kind. As for the rest, their Core Formation stage members were few and far between.

“Lucky us, it’s the Wolf Clan. Let’s hope not too many mortals get caught up in this.”

In the Elder Council, there was a widely held belief that mortals were the foundation of the cultivation world. For the cultivation world to thrive, the mortal world had to prosper too. That’s why, under the Elder Council’s rule on the central continent, major wars between nations were rare, and wars of annihilation were outright banned.

Meanwhile, the four Core Formation stage Shadow Wolves began to panic when they realized their clan leader and elders had vanished.

The battle situation was the last thing on their minds. Their only thought was to find their leader and elders.

An elderly Nascent Soul stage Shadow Wolf rushed out of the teleportation formation in a panic.

“Masters, I just got word—every demon above the Core Formation stage has disappeared. The Fox Clan elder divined their fate, and they’re all dead,” the old Shadow Wolf said, his voice trembling with fear.

The four Core Formation stage Shadow Wolves exchanged glances and immediately decided to retreat.

If the Wolf Clan lost their beast king leader, the entire clan would face annihilation. Their enemies in the demon world would devour them without a trace.

While the beast king was tied up in the protective barrier’s internal strife, they had to move the clan to safety.

“Awoo~~”

A mournful howl echoed across the battlefield, and all the attacking Shadow Wolves stopped in their tracks, confused by the sudden retreat order.

As the howl rang out, four Precious Artifact Satellites high above prepared to strike, unleashing thick Gravity Alloy Rods.

The Elder Council cultivators arrived on the scene.

“Boss, the demons seem to have noticed something’s off and are pulling back. Should we let them go?”

Before the Core Formation stage cultivator could answer, four Gravity Alloy Rods came crashing down from the sky.

“Boom.”

The teleportation portal shattered, and all four Core Formation stage Shadow Wolves were injured. Most of the Shadow Wolves hadn’t even begun to retreat.

“Well, now we’ve got no choice,” said a Core Formation stage cultivator from the Elder Council with a bitter smile, deflecting the shockwave from the Gravity Alloy Rods.

“Looks like we’ll have to meet that Grand Elder of the Hidden Spirit Sect. His creations can already harm Core Formation stage cultivators.”

As he spoke, the cultivator transformed into a sword and struck at the Shadow Wolves still reeling on the battlefield. The other cultivators followed suit.

The Precious Artifact Satellites’ attack had devastated half the grassland. Even the sheep-selling town, two hundred miles away, felt the impact—half its buildings collapsed as if struck by an earthquake. Thankfully, the townsfolk had already fled.

At that moment, Grape detected the Elder Council’s Core Formation stage cultivators entering the battlefield. All the puppets received orders to prepare for a counterattack, their mission to wipe out the Shadow Wolves’ foot soldiers.

The puppets shifted into attack mode, over two hundred thousand of them forming small teams and slowly closing in on the trapped Shadow Wolves.

The cultivators fighting two Core Formation stage Shadow Wolves watched the scene unfold, narrowing their eyes.

“I’ll give you a way out. Do you want it?”

The cultivator transformed into a sword and struck, a pure sword light slicing through the air and severing the head of one Core Formation stage Shadow Wolf.

“That was a warning. The next strike will cut through your demon souls,” the cultivator said lightly.
