Chapter 16: Pang Fu
Xu Fan took out a small mirror artifact and started his online trading for cultivation items.
The mirror’s surface flickered, and a middle-aged man’s face appeared.
"What pills have you refined recently, my friend?" the middle-aged man’s voice came through the artifact, sounding excited.
"Fifty bottles of medium-grade small spirit pills, fifty bottles of medium-grade Body-Refining Pills, fifty bottles of medium-grade disinfecting pills, twenty bottles of medium-grade calming heart pills, and twenty bottles of medium-grade speed spirit pills."
"Also, ten bottles of Water Spirit Pills and Wood Spirit Pills."
As Xu Fan listed the items, the middle-aged man’s expression grew more and more shocked. He knew Xu Fan had only bought these spirit herbs two months ago, and this speed was almost unbelievable.
"That’s all. Manager Li, please calculate the total," Xu Fan said with a smile. With this money, he could finally start his artifact crafting plans.
"Fifty bottles of small spirit pills are 11,500 spirit stones, Body-Refining Pills 15,000 spirit stones, disinfecting pills 10,000 spirit stones, calming heart pills 8,000 spirit stones, speed spirit pills 12,000 spirit stones."
"The Water Spirit Pills and Wood Spirit Pills come to 40,000 spirit stones. The total is 96,500 spirit stones, so I’ll round it up to 97,000 spirit stones."
"You can now upgrade to level two mirror permissions, which will unlock some new features. Keep that in mind."
"Got it."
"Let’s start the transaction."
"Sure."
Xu Fan took out the pills from his storage bag. With a glance at the mirror, a spatial force pulled all the pills, and a bag of spirit stones appeared in their place.
Every time Xu Fan saw this, he couldn’t help but marvel.
This was way better than online shopping—direct spatial transfer. Too bad it only worked within the sect.
When Xu Fan first upgraded to level one permissions and learned the mirror had teleportation capabilities, he was stunned. The world was getting weirder by the day.
Later, he found out it was powered by the sect’s grand formation, creating a teleportation system that covered the entire sect. Outside the Que Tian Gate, it didn’t work.
After the transaction, Manager Li didn’t end the call.
"My friend, I have a favor to ask," Manager Li said, looking a bit shy.
"Go ahead," Xu Fan replied. Though their relationship was mostly transactional, Manager Li had given him discounts and rounded totals over the past year. He didn’t mind helping out.
"I have a nephew at the Qi Training Stage who’s heading to the secret realm for training. I was hoping to buy a few bottles of high-quality pills from you. Would you be willing?" Manager Li asked. Given the pills Xu Fan had traded over the past year, it was clear he could refine high-quality Qi Training Stage pills.
"I have five bottles of high-quality small spirit pills, four disinfecting pills, six Body-Refining Pills, and three speed spirit pills."
"Given our relationship, you can name the price," Xu Fan said after a moment of thought. Refining high-quality pills wasn’t a big deal, and keeping them around didn’t mean much to him.
"Speed spirit pills? You’ve been holding out on me," Manager Li said, delighted. A high-quality speed spirit pill could instantly restore half of a Qi Training Stage cultivator’s spiritual energy, making it a top choice for battles.
"How about 20,000 spirit stones?"
"You’re shortchanging yourself. With a little time, you could gather these pills easily," Xu Fan said after some quick calculations.
"It’s fine. The situation came up suddenly, and I don’t want to shortchange you," Manager Li replied.
"Alright, let’s do it," Xu Fan said with a smile.
"Deal."
The spatial force activated once more.
After the transaction was completed, Xu Fan looked at the two bags of spirit stones beside him and smiled.
"Finally, I’m not the penniless otaku I used to be."
At that moment, Xu Fan felt a surge of spiritual energy within him, indicating he was on the verge of breaking through his current realm.
He quickly returned to his room to meditate and suppress the energy.
An hour later, Xu Fan slowly opened his eyes.
"I can’t just break through to the Qi Refinement Fourth Layer without fully mastering it."
"Besides, my research on the Five Elements Technique is almost complete. Once I switch to the new technique, it’ll be like hitting two birds with one stone," Xu Fan said.
He then resumed his study of the Five Elements Technique.
Meanwhile, in a distant sacred place, Zhang Weiyun had just finished her cultivation and was about to ride her azure divine bird for some leisure when the Mysterious Azure Elder stopped her.
"Can’t you handle just three months of seclusion?"
"You haven’t even grasped the basics of the Fortune Spirit Destiny Technique, and your combat strength isn’t top-tier at your level. I can’t take you out to show off," the Mysterious Azure Elder said gently, still holding high hopes for her disciple.
She, too, was a Spirit Body of Great Fortune. She had risen through a series of fortunate events to become a big shot in the Feiyu Realm, living a carefree life.
But during a rest, she fell asleep and had a nightmare where she was chased by demons across the Thousand Worlds and met a tragic end under their torture.
Waking up, the Mysterious Azure Elder knew it was a warning from her spirit body. She began desperately searching for ways to avert this disaster, as the dream was terrifying.
She later discovered a secret technique: by taking in a disciple with a Spirit Body of Great Fortune and teaching her diligently, she could resolve her own tribulation.
This was why she took Zhang Weiyun as her disciple.
"That technique is too hard. I just want to go out for a bit; maybe I’ll gain some new insights."
"And if I could see my husband, that would be even better," Zhang Weiyun said, clinging to the Mysterious Azure Elder’s arm.
Hearing her disciple mention her husband, the Mysterious Azure Elder’s eyes flickered with interest. Anyone who could become a cultivation partner to a Spirit Body of Great Fortune was no ordinary person. She wondered what brilliance her disciple’s husband would bring to this realm.
"You can go out for a bit, but if you want to see your husband, you must first fully understand the introductory part of the Fortune Spirit Destiny Technique."
"Alright, I’ll do my best."
With that, Zhang Weiyun excitedly flew off on her azure divine bird.
At Que Tian Gate, on the Outer Sect Mountain Range, at Artifact Peak,
Xu Fan reluctantly spent 10,000 spirit stones on beginner artifact master materials and the necessary spirit ore materials, all in holographic form.
"The barrier to entry for artifact crafting is much higher than for alchemy; they don’t even provide a teacher," Xu Fan said, frustrated. He had already completed his alchemy courses and expected artifact crafting to be similar, but it wasn’t.
Returning to his little hill, Xu Fan saw a usually unfamiliar disciple standing outside the protective barrier.
"Isn’t that Brother Pang Fu? What brings you here?" Xu Fan asked the chubby disciple.
During their early Qi Refinement studies, only a few had made an impression on Xu Fan, and Pang Fu was one of them.
"I heard of Brother Xu’s success in alchemy and came to congratulate you," Pang Fu said with a smile, his double chin jiggling as he pulled out 50 spirit stones as a gift.
"Oh, thank you, Brother Pang Fu. I appreciate the gesture, but you should keep the spirit stones."
"In the Outer Sect, we’re all wandering cultivators with no one to rely on. Every spirit stone should be used wisely."
Xu Fan’s eyes showed a hint of surprise; this chubby guy was quite generous.
