Chapter 1: Exceptional Talent
In the Feiyu Realm, at Que Tian Gate,
Xu Fan returned to his small courtyard after completing the tasks assigned by the sect.
Though it was called a small courtyard, it was more like an independent little house on a mountaintop, which was typical for intermediate disciples of the Outer Sect.
Looking at the more than ten acres of spirit rice in front of him and a small medicinal herb field in the distance, Xu Fan formed a hand seal.
Over the spirit fields, countless water vapors gathered along with strands of spiritual energy, forming a water cloud that perfectly covered the entire area.
"Spirit Rain Technique."
From the water cloud above the spirit fields, fine droplets of rain began to fall, infused with strands of spiritual energy seeping into the ground.
If the elders of the sect saw this scene, they would certainly be amazed by Xu Fan’s ability and his mastery of the Spirit Rain Technique, as few could practice such a seemingly useless spell to this level.
"In ten days, these spirit rice will be ready for harvest. By then, I’ll have enough to buy an alchemy furnace and spirit stones for finding a master."
"Once I learn Alchemy, I won’t have to worry about spirit stones anymore." Xu Fan said with a smile, looking at the taller spirit rice.
Upon returning to his house, Xu Fan activated a Sound Silencing protective barrier and began to relax. He picked up a carving knife and casually selected a piece of ironwood to start carving.
As his carving knife danced up and down, a tiny Wuling Hongguang appeared in Xu Fan’s hands in no time.
"Ah, I wonder who created this system, which seems to have chosen me."
"Clearly, I have exceptional talent, yet I can only break through on the last day of my limit. Qi Training Stage at 150 years old, Foundation Establishment Stage at 200 years, Golden Core Stage at 500 years, Nascent Soul Stage at 1000 years, Dividing Spirit Stage…"
"Forget it, by that time, I might not want to live anymore."
Xu Fan said as he set the finished Wuling Hongguang aside and picked up another piece of ironwood to continue carving. This was his way of passing the time and relieving boredom.
"I’ll definitely break through on the last day, but if I die in between, I won’t get resurrected."
"Isn’t this just making me the number one homebody in the cultivation world? Though I used to be a homebody as well."
"But in such a vast and limitless world, I also want to see."
Xu Fan shook his head at this thought.
"The outside world is too dangerous; I should lay low for a while and wait until I reach the twelfth layer of Qi Refinement before I go out to explore."
As he spoke, he completed carving another Volkswagen Touareg.
Xu Fan stood up and walked to a wall, tapping it irregularly several times.
A hidden door opened in the wall, leading to a staircase going down; this was a basement he had created using Earth Motion Technique.
Upon entering the basement, Xu Fan snapped his fingers, casting a top-tier illumination spell on the ceiling. Instantly, the forty-square-meter basement lit up like day, shining as bright as the morning sun.
In the middle of the basement stood a large platform, with a model of a city from his memories on top. The streets bustled with traffic, filled with various storefronts, and in the courtyard at the center stood a wooden Statue resembling Xu Fan.
Xu Fan casually placed the two carved cars on the modeled road, joining the flow of traffic.
"I can’t go back now; with my brother around, my parents will be worry-free for the rest of their lives."
Xu Fan gazed dreamily at the wooden Statue of a woman cooking in the center of the courtyard, her appearance ordinary, yet she was the person he missed the most.
After reminiscing for a moment, Xu Fan returned to his house to begin today’s final cultivation session.
“After six years in the sect, I’ve reached the fourth layer of Qi Refinement. This pace is just average, but that’s fine; as long as I keep living, that’s a victory,” Xu Fan comforted himself, while a thought crossed his mind: Would he become the most powerful cultivator in the world and be able to return to his original world many years later?
The Great Immortal Emperor has been reborn, wandering carefree in the city.
Thinking of this, Xu Fan smiled.
“If that’s the case, living a little longer is worth it.”
“Alright, time to cultivate. What if I accidentally break through?”
Xu Fan began his daily cultivation. He practiced the most basic and stable technique in the cultivation world, the "Five Elements Technique." Each element—gold, wood, water, fire, and earth—had individual paths of cultivation, allowing for both single-element and combined practice.
The greatest feature of the "Five Elements Technique" is that it has no specific characteristics. Its only benefit is that practicing it enhances the application of all five elemental spells, while everything else is quite average.
Xu Fan circulated his spiritual energy within his body, moving through the small orbit and finally returning to his dantian, then repeating the cycle.
But this state lasted only a moment before Xu Fan began to refine the spiritual energy within him, making it even purer.
Xu Fan’s soul had crossed over into the body of a dying young beggar, who had no parents and only followed an old beggar who took pity on him.
Initially, Xu Fan had thought of ending his life, but upon discovering that there were cultivators in this world, he ignited his will to live. After enduring countless hardships and extensive planning, he finally became an outer disciple of Que Tian Gate.
The old beggar died two years after Xu Fan entered Que Tian Gate. No medicine could save him. According to his words, it was as if Heaven was punishing him for not wanting to see Xu Fan enjoy a better life.
After Xu Fan received his first spirit stone in the sect, the old beggar began to live a life he had never dared to imagine—luxurious clothing and delightful food, living out his remaining years in comfort, but unfortunately, he only enjoyed it for two years.
The next morning, after Xu Fan finished his porridge made of spirit rice and minced meat, he used his Lightness Technique to float towards Tai Xue Peak, one of the three major peaks in the distance.
“Master Xu, come down! Stop showing off your intermediate Lightness Technique!”
A cheerful voice called out. A handsome young man looked up at Xu Fan.
Floating in mid-air, Xu Fan spotted Wang Yulun on the winding mountain path, squinting his eyes. He adjusted his stance and floated towards Wang Yulun.
“Master Xu, when will you teach me how to cultivate the Lightness Technique to the intermediate level? When perfected, my speed would rival flying on a sword,” Wang Yulun said enviously, looking at Xu Fan.
“Well, the secret is to save the time spent practicing attack techniques to practice the Lightness Technique instead,” Xu Fan teased. Wang Yulun was quite famous among the outer disciples, having slain a sixth-layer Qi Refinement beast at the fourth layer. He gained instant fame and supposedly caught the attention of an elder wanting to take him as a disciple.
“Master Xu, are you joking? What if I encounter a beast outside without practicing attack techniques?”
“Then I just won’t go outside,” Xu Fan replied nonchalantly.
“………”
Wang Yulun couldn’t understand why such a talented senior brother seemed so timid, even when taking sect missions, choosing only the safest tasks within the sect.
“Master Xu, if there’s a chance, please teach me your Special Skills,” Wang Yulun flattered.
Others didn’t know, but he remembered the time when hundreds of untamed beasts escaped due to an accident at the Beast Control Hall. When Wang Yulun was cornered by three sixth-layer fire wolves, Xu Fan happened to pass by and, unable to watch him die without help, casually used a three-element combined spell, igniting wind and fire arrows to slay the three fire wolves, saving Wang Yulun.
Wang Yulun was incredibly impressed; mastery over attack spells was difficult, yet Xu Fan had effortlessly unleashed a combined spell.
From that day on, Wang Yulun became Xu Fan’s loyal little brother.
