Chapter 40: Thank You, Kakaris
In the Forbidden Forest, two white horses walked side by side, and the two people on them were chatting.
"Sir, it has been a long time since we encountered a runaway human sacrifice, haha, that group of piglets should all be dead by now." The servant on the left white horse said respectfully, "Can we turn back?"
"Don’t call them piglets." The female knight on the right white horse shot him a cold glance.
"M-Master…" The servant felt a bit embarrassed.
"They are all damned evil believers. There are no human sacrifices here; they all died before we arrived, killed by the Joyful Church."
"Yes, Master, you are right," the servant nodded and laughed.
"Hmm, let’s see if we can catch a few more heads ahead; these are all achievements." The female knight glanced at the heads hanging from the servant’s mount and smiled with satisfaction.
"We are not like the Black Riders. This mission to hunt down the evil doers is the only chance we have to earn achievements. Ha, it’s so interesting that those living… wicked ones actually think we would save them… Hahaha, why do we have any obligation to save a group of useless people?"
"At the cost of the lives of these useless ones, we gain greater power. This will make the empire’s civilization more prosperous and let the light of order shine brighter. This is the most reasonable choice; the saintess’s decision is correct."
"Yes, my lady, let these useless ones contribute their final value to us. Their heads will become the keys that spark the light of order."
The two chatted while pulling on the reins, and the sound of hooves raced towards the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
Suddenly, the female knight tightened the reins and moved her nose slightly, "What is that smell?"
A strange, indescribable fragrance filled her nostrils, causing her awareness to blur.
She instinctively looked at her servant, but realized the white horse beside her had long been empty.
"Thud."
Soon after, the female knight also fell from her horse, and the two white horses twitched and collapsed on the ground.
"Clip-clop, clip-clop."
Grand Bishop Kakaris stepped out from the shadow behind the tree canopy, took out his dagger, glanced at the white knight, and finally restrained his killing intent, fleeing into the distance.
The white knight army is the most vengeful among all the forces of the Order Sect, and as a woman who has dealt with them for decades, Kakaris knows this very well.
Fifteen years ago, to avenge the arrow that struck his deputy, the Grand Bishop of the Order Sect at that time personally led 5,000 white knights in a crusade to destroy the faith, fighting from the east side of the Great Wall of Marian all the way to the west side.
Almost all the heretics in the northern region fell apart during this crusade.
The Joyful Church also suffered greatly and could only hang on by a thread.
This battle not only made the name of the white knight army famous throughout the northern region but also spread their vengeful character across the entire continent.
Perhaps in terms of individual combat power, the white knights are not unbeatable, but everyone knows that killing one of them is like provoking an invincible army.
At that moment, Kakaris felt alone and just wanted to run away. She didn’t want to make things more complicated. Even with such a good opportunity, she did not harm the knights.
No one knew if the white knights had any hidden alarms.
After the design of the Saintess of Order, Fleur, Kakaris became even more cautious.
These holy figures, who spoke of justice and morality, were even darker and harsher than herself.
Soon after Kakaris left, Leo and Skuld also became visible.
Miss Skuld’s lower body had turned into the form of Mucus, while only her upper body still looked like Reni.
This was Leo’s new plan: to follow behind Kakaris and take advantage of any opportunities.
If they succeeded, they would blend into the Order Sect; if not, they would run back to the forbidden area and play dead.
"Finally, there is a woman…" Leo lifted the white knight’s mask and smiled with relief.
This was the fourth white knight he encountered following Kakaris.
The first three were all male.
Skuld could only assimilate female humanoids. Although she had eaten those white knights, they could only serve as her food, providing her with nutrients for evolution.
Leo couldn’t understand why Kakaris left any survivors on the battlefield…
Is this mercy shooting like Kirya Yamato in cosplay…?
Either way, Miss Skuld was quite happy; after eating three advanced believers, her true form seemed ready to awaken a new ability.
Thank you very much, Grand Bishop Kakaris.
"Master, should I assimilate her?" Skuld moved closer to the white knight, her eyes filled with intense heat. "She is very strong, and… I really like her scent."
Leo frowned slightly, looking at the beautiful face of the female knight, which showed a hint of pain. He activated True Vision Eye and sighed.
The knight’s long golden hair flowed like moonlight inside her armor, and her cheeks were so pale that even darkness could not hide them.
The snug armor covered her body’s curves, but the skin slightly visible at her joints revealed her charm as a woman.
With her looks, she would stand out even in Joyful Church.
However, the believers trained by the Order Sect, like Ashley, had no expression on their faces even when in a coma, like pieces of wood.
[Order Sect. White Knight: Luna Schiller]
[Rank: Advanced Believer]
[Race: Human]
[Strength: 16]
[Agility: 18]
[Physical Strength: 19]
[Charm: 8]
[Intelligence: 8]
[Spiritual Vision: 16]
Abilities: Advanced combat skills, advanced swordsmanship, advanced horsemanship, battle.
Trample, charge, take cover, order aura, fearless…
Just by looking at her panel, this advanced believer named Luna is much stronger than Reni. Not to mention, she possesses many powerful abilities. If it came to a direct confrontation, it would be a dream to not only defeat her quickly but even to try to escape from her grasp.
To easily have the chance to eat her, really…
Thank you again to Grand Bishop Kakaris!
Also, we should thank her; she took the blame for hurting the White Knights.
It’s just that…
"What’s wrong, Master? Don’t you want me to eat him?" Miss Skuld noticed Leo’s hesitation, "Or is it that you can’t bring yourself to do it?"
"Well, it’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just… there is another choice."
Leo pressed his fingers to his forehead; he felt like he was standing at a crossroads in his life.
This was not because he had a soft heart.
These guys can easily kill innocent human sacrifices for their achievements, so Leo wouldn’t feel any burden if he had to kill them to survive.
He was just thinking…
They were already at the edge of the Forbidden Forest; he and Skuld had to decide whether to follow Kakashi and escape from the circle of the White Knights.
If he does not escape and lets Skuld take over this female knight, he can disguise himself as a servant and blend into the White Cavalry, following the Order Sect to a… well, at least a country of the righteous faith.
These are two completely different choices.
Perhaps they also correspond to entirely different fates.
A few seconds later, he laughed at himself and said to Miss Skuld, "Just eat her."
After thinking carefully,
Leo only had a few minutes left to be invisible. If he was discovered by Kakaris after breaking free from the encirclement, it would truly be falling back into a trap…
Hiding in the forbidden area was, in itself, a desperate choice, and there was still the risk of being discovered.
Upon careful reflection, sneaking into the Order Sect actually became the best option.
As for killing this female knight, there was really no hesitation about that.
The White Cavalry of Order Church has already taught him a lesson.
This world is crazy, and these churches are crazy too.
Innocent people can be sacrificed or slaughtered at any time, just because they lack strength; they will always be the ones sacrificed on the scale.
Perhaps there are still some people in this world who hold kindness and goodness, but that is certainly not a necessity for survival.
Praying for the salvation of others is completely pointless.
If you want to survive, you must grow quickly and take power into your own hands.
Since a powerful bad woman is right in front of me, why should I not take action?
"Either do not act, or act decisively. Do not hope for fate’s favor; rely on yourself… and seize her by the throat."
Mucus wrapped around Luna Schiller, and a deep moan echoed through the Forbidden Forest…
