Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Nothing Is More Important Than Having a Meal
Due to the consistent combat style of the Demon Army, this group of demon race only cared about two things before going into battle.
First, how many people are on the other side?
Second, what is the strength of these people on the other side?
Other than that, they didn’t care at all.
So, when Lolth was about to casually fill something out, she discovered a very important problem…
This parchment map of the western front line is a bit hard to understand.
Even though the artistry is pretty good, even Lolth, who has never been to the front lines, could see many problems at a glance.
The terrain near the defense line was clearly drawn randomly!
As a master of slacking off, Lolth occasionally read some travelogues about the customs and culture of this world that were seized by the Demon Army – those things were always stored in the loot room, with nobody else showing any interest except her.
After all, as a time traveler, she was still very interested in the sights of other worlds.
Besides, the Minstrels’ writing skills were quite good.
Although the travelogues and books may not directly record it, through those descriptions, Lolth could still make basic judgments about what kind of terrain certain places were.
“There are no mountains here, this is a plain…”
“The direction of this river is completely wrong, unbelievable!”
“Hey, why isn’t this large forest area even drawn here!”
Even though Lolth is known for being a slacker, her motto has always been to do as little work as possible.
But this map was just too ridiculous, seriously affecting her fabrications.
So, Lolth decided to redraw one herself.
She spread out a piece of parchment, dipped a feather pen in ink, and began drawing the map from scratch.
Despite knowing that the map she was randomly drawing here might not be very accurate, it was still better than the high-precision maps the demon generals were giving to them.
Anything was better than a map that even marked the terrain wrong!
Soon, in about ten minutes, Lolth had finished drawing a beautifully crafted map.
“Done! Now let’s start fabricating some intelligence!”
Saying that, she began observing the terrain of the western part of the “Holy Alliance defense line.”
The defensive line winds like a snake, with Dragonspine Mountain and Moon Rising Mountains serving as natural barriers where elves, dwarves, and other tribes live. Between these two mountains lies a plain, protected by the “Anti-demon Great Wall” and three allied fortresses. Beyond the plain flows the well-known “Larech River,” leading to the Ryman Empire on the south where The Church of Light and the empire can send reinforcements by water at any time.
The western front is where the fighting is toughest, having seen four major battles already. The Demon Army has established two fortresses in the west and is led by two Devil Overlords.
The chaotic and endless warfare led to Princess Tina, a Moon Elf Princess, being captured.
In more stable times without demons breaching fortresses or cities, and with the frontline at a stalemate, a respected princess like Tina wouldn’t have fallen into enemy hands.
The Demon King’s intention in interrogating this princess is to bring an end to the chaos on the western front.
Next, the entire Demon Army will plan a full-scale attack on the west defense line of the Holy Alliance.
Lolth learned from reports that the Demon Army plans to directly attack three fortresses and the middle section of the Anti-demon Great Wall. Her intelligence work focuses on gathering information about the wall and the three fortresses.
Pondering the aligned fortresses, Lolth began drafting her plans.
“The White Moon Fortress sounds like an elven name, situated closest to the Moon Rising Mountains… I shall say the main troops consist of archers and mages, with one legendary and two epic warriors leading the forces…”
“The Molten Iron Fortress? That’s a pure dwarf style, but the dwarf tribe kings are not together. If I say there is a legendary warrior, it lacks credibility… Let’s just say there’s a secret weapon here, as dwarfs like Divine Artifacts.”
“The Central Fortress, what a weird name… Well, the middle fortress must be the strongest, and it’s near the hub of the Anti-demon Great Wall. It should be a joint army of multiple races, let’s say there’s a Sage leading it.”
“The defensive layout of the Anti-demon Great Wall… Well, do we need intel for this? There’s a lookout post every fifty meters with three barracks, and those three barracks are definitely staggered with the three fortresses!”
“Oh, right, beneath the Dragonspine Mountain, there’s a large abandoned mine. Mark it as a possible ambush, to increase credibility!”
After some writing and drawing, the whole map instantly became much richer.
The positioning of forces, division of power, strategic deployment, everything was there, with similar numbers of troops and types.
Well, the Demon Army doesn’t have a habit of cross-checking anyway!
Lolth clapped her hands in satisfaction.
“Alright, knew making up things would be so simple, wouldn’t have wasted time bickering with that elven girl!”
After redrawing the map, Lolth clapped her hands, put down her pen, and stood up.
“It’s time for lunch, let’s go eat!”
