Chapter 7: The Easy To Convince Girl
“Do you think I’m the head of a daycare?”
Wei Shi drank a sip of hot water with wolfberry, his face expressionless. “I’ve fallen so low that I’m now taking care of someone else’s child.”
“That little girl looks pretty cute. When I pinched her cheek, she didn’t even resist,” the purple-haired lady smiled, opening her phone to try to find information on Mi Xiaoliu.
However, aside from the details of her enrollment, she couldn’t find anything. “Even I, as a woman, think she’s pretty, yet you still dislike her.”
She was just too frail. Although her height wasn’t an issue, her thin arms and legs gave the impression that she wasn’t getting enough meat at home, which made people feel sorry for her.
“Should I arrange for her to do some loli seduction tasks in the future?”
Wei Shi cast her a cold glance.
“Actually, at her age, she’s already considered a young girl.” The purple-haired lady blinked and put her phone down, resuming her cleaning. “Isn’t it fun to nurture her like a game? Why are you arranging a job test for her? She’s the child of your first love, you know.”
“If your ex-boyfriend randomly sent his kid over for you to take care of, would you greet him with a smile?” Wei Shi flipped through the letter Mi Xiaoliu had brought.
“That stupid idiot even changed my contact to ‘Feed Me Shit’ after we broke up.”
“Then should we just get rid of her?” The purple-haired lady smiled as she walked over and squeezed his shoulder, her voice turning sweet. “No, I really like her. She’s such a cute little girl. Let’s keep her as a mascot.”
“Keep her, just don’t be so disgusting.” Wei Shi slapped her hand away and tossed the letter Mi Xiaoliu had brought aside.
The game was about to respawn.
The letter contained Mi Xiaoliu’s personal information. There were no details about her relationships or house numbers, but it was still fairly precise.
It was accurate down to the cells.
“Yay! ( ^∀^)/”
With a cheerful shout, the purple-haired lady curiously took the letter, her pupils narrowing slightly.
Inside wasn’t an introductory letter but a set of experimental records for a test subject named “Mi.”
“Read it and burn it, then flush the ashes down the toilet. Then ask them if they’ve arrived yet.”
Wei Shi lit a cigarette. At that moment, his game finally regained its color. He quickly sat back down and got online, watching as his teammate “Outlaw” performed a full dqwrf combo on the minion line.
To make sure Wei Shi saw his minion line meet its fate, “Outlaw” intentionally waited for him to return before finishing off the minions.
While Wei Shi was in a daze, a box appeared in front of him.
“Damn it!”
What followed was a friendly exchange between outlaws. In reality, he was an outlaw, and the other was an outlaw in the game. They met like kindred spirits, finding common ground. For a while, their friendly conversation filled the entire chat box.
After the game ended, the two of them were so engrossed in their chat that they added each other as friends, and the progress bar had reached about one-tenth of the way through.
In the end, the other even kindly invited him to meet in person offline. This world really did have more kind-hearted people.
“Find out his location for me.” Wei Shi took out another cigarette, placing it between his lips, and ordered the purple-haired lady.
He stood there for a moment, chewing on the cigarette, then put it back down. Grabbing an umbrella, he walked out. “I’m going to buy a lighter.”
“If you want to see what’s going on over there, you can just use my ability, right?” The purple-haired lady smiled, watching his retreating figure.
No response came.
With a helpless shrug, she dialed Shigenobu’s number. “Hey, have you arrived?”
“You’re so ruthless, senpai. If I were tailing the target right now, your phone call would have exposed me,” Shigenobu whistled. “But since you’re so pretty, I’ll forgive you.”
Speaking of beauty…
Shigenobu turned his gaze to Mi Xiaoliu, who was also a newcomer like him.
Black hair, with one long and one short small ponytail. Her appearance didn’t give off a fake impression, her facial features and face shape were perfect. Having left her “little loli” phase behind, she now looked like a pure young girl stepping into adolescence.
Her blue eyes almost seemed to glow in the night. She was wearing a black trench coat, or maybe a long robe? Shigenobu couldn’t tell, but when the zipper was up, it wrapped around Mi Xiaoliu’s petite figure tightly.
The outfit looked a bit strange, but surprisingly suited her well, without any sense of discord. In a world where strange outfits were commonplace, her choice didn’t stand out at all.
She was dressed stylishly, and her appearance was quite beautiful. At least in his age group, Shigenobu had never seen a more attractive girl. However, she remained expressionless and silent.
If he were a few years younger, he would probably have pursued her relentlessly, but unfortunately, he was already eighteen… Actually, the age gap wasn’t a big deal, especially since he was already an outlaw.
But he now preferred mature older women, because he liked those who could take care of him, rather than needing to care for a younger girl.
This cold little sister in front of him didn’t seem very smart, though.
Mi Xiaoliu was standing in the rain, trying to figure out why the umbrella in her hand had suddenly flipped inside out. This wasn’t part of the “common sense” she knew.
A silly girl like this, Shigenobu figured, anyone who offered her some kindness could easily deceive her into bed.
“Your hood behind you can also be used for rain protection, right?” Shigenobu reminded her, seeing how pretty she was.
Mi Xiaoliu nodded and put the hood on.
The water collected in the hood immediately poured onto her head with a “splash.”
She looked at Shigenobu with a confused expression, as if she had been greatly deceived.
“…”
Of course, this outfit wasn’t just a random set pulled from the wardrobe for its prettiness.
[Newbie Combat Suit]
Although it was a costume obtained from the newbie gift pack, the attribute boosts it provided seemed pretty strong.
Mi Xiaoliu, who would normally be out of breath after just a few steps, was now able to walk from South City to North City without feeling tired, moving at a good speed with much more strength than before.
The two of them were undergoing a small job test. Of course, it wasn’t about filling out strange questions or practicing shooting on a target.
Without any introduction, they were casually given an assassination target and detailed information, with the task to be completed before dawn. There was no mention of what would happen if they failed.
“How old are you, little sister? Have you been to school?” Shigenobu grinned with a malicious smile. “Girls your age probably haven’t stayed up all night before, right?”
“13 years old.”
“Just entered junior high. Heh… No orientation or training, and they’re treating us like this. That’s really something.”
“Heh, who would willingly join an illegal organization like ours if they weren’t desperate?” The voice on the other end of the phone was still as irresistibly charming as a fox spirit who had practiced for thousands of years.
“What if we’re seen while we’re fighting?” Shigenobu asked.
“Well, obviously, we take care of the witnesses. Without witnesses, it wouldn’t be considered an assassination.”
“So why not just kill anyone we see and there’ll be no witnesses?” Shigenobu dug at his ears.
“Don’t worry, the target is just an ordinary person with no fighting ability. He doesn’t even have a gun. Killing him will be as easy as snapping a twig. Oh, by the way, the employer wants us to get the documents from his hands… Of course, you’ll have to handle the cleanup yourself. If you leave fingerprints or something… Heh heh.”
Although it seemed simple, for a newcomer with no experience, there were still quite a few troublesome aspects.
For example, the exact location of the documents, the cleanup work, and the most important factor: the courage to kill.
If you’re too scared to do a killing mission, why should we even keep you around? Or perhaps, who knows what kind of intentions you have joining us… Are you trying to be an inside spy?
“The documents the target has aren’t at his residence. I suggest you split up. You handle the killing, and let the little sister do the auxiliary work like finding the documents. After all, we need to take care of underage girls. I’ll send you the two locations later. He usually lives at the shop he works at, and the documents should be hidden in an old house in the old district.”
“You’re quite conscientious, huh?” Shigenobu glanced at the phone as the call ended.
Of course, if they were willing to give him, the newbie, a gun, that would be real consideration.
The phone wasn’t originally his, he was a fugitive, so he couldn’t just use his own phone card. It was a phone provided by the organization, and since he came through the talent department’s proper channels, he had a phone while Mi Xiaoliu didn’t.
Shigenobu didn’t tell Mi Xiaoliu about the details from the purple-haired lady’s call. He chuckled softly and pointed to the two marked locations on the phone’s map, showing them to Mi Xiaoliu. “Two places—one is for retrieving the documents, the other is for eliminating the target. You can pick whichever you want. She didn’t tell me where exactly these places are.”
“Master, he’s trying to trick you!”
“Huh?” Mi Xiaoliu tilted her head.
Seeing her cute expression, Shigenobu almost couldn’t bring himself to go through with it.
“Looks like you, little sister, have trouble making decisions, just like me. Then I’ll make the sacrifice and choose for us.”
He chose to search for the documents.
