Chapter 227: T7 Hunting
"Break?" Carrey’s mouth twitched. "What kind of break? School already started last month!"
"Is that so? I forgot," Karoso said calmly.
I’ve been so busy lately that I can’t remember if it’s a holiday or school time… my mind…
Karoso’s old life was quite peaceful, but after meeting netizens, everything changed, not to mention his life.
"You are messing with my mindset, huh?" Carrey rolled up his sleeves. "Today, I will show you my card skills! Playing this kind of game is completely different from real battles. I admit I can’t beat you, but so what? If I don’t make you lose everything today, then I’m not a member of the Quant family!"
"Be careful, kid," Alita pat Karoso’s shoulder. "The one opposite is from the Quant family. They made their fortune playing Quant cards and won a noble title. They have developed into what they are now; their skills cannot be underestimated."
"You are… Teacher Alita?" Carrey paused for a moment.
At first, he thought the woman standing next to Karoso was just a lady.
This ship has first class, second class, and third class.
The first class has 330 people, the second class has 480 passengers, and the third class has 1100 passengers.
In the first class, there are rich people, while many in the second class are women who work on the ship. The ship itself also provides some working women.
If Carrey weren’t feeling so troubled, he would have wanted to hire two women for some fun.
"Are you also from Marl Academy?" Alita raised an eyebrow.
"Teacher, I am a student at Warrior Academy." Carrey quickly stood up and bowed to Alita.
After all, she is the only S-class card-making teacher in the academy (Null and 『』 have become S+), and she is also known as a master card maker. She published papers on Zero-star Cards and downgrading stars, so her status is not something Carrey can compare to; he might be closer if he were the only heir of the duke.
"Why are you here gambling instead of studying properly?" Alita asked in confusion.
"Well, I’ve been having some problems with my studies lately, and I wanted to clear my mind," Carrey said softly.
"I see, well, you all have fun, but don’t get too heated about it; we’re all classmates," Alita casually said.
"Why are you on this ship? Hasn’t school started yet?" Carrey asked in confusion.
"Be his private tutor, this little rascal, who spends all day not doing what he should." Alita gently patted Karoso’s head, her tone filled with affection.
Carrey turned pale.
You scold me for not studying well, but he doesn’t study and you not only spoil him, you also become his private tutor?
What on earth is this? Why such a big difference in treatment!
"Alright, let’s begin." Karoso reached out.
"Hmph." Carrey huffed coldly and sat down.
The dealer came to their side and shuffled the deck of cards.
Fourteen spaces appeared on the table, meant for the Attendant Cards.
Carrey chose the profession of wizard, while Karoso’s profession was hunter.
"Hunter, I thought you would choose a warrior." Carrey mocked, "That’s pretty foolish, just right for you."
"You picked a wizard… hehe," Karoso teased back.
"Please confirm the first move."
The servant took out a deck of playing cards. Each of them drew one card; Karoso got a three of clubs, and Carrey got a king of hearts.
"Ha, sorry, it’s my turn first," Carrey said with a cold smile.
The servant dealt three cards to Carrey. He glanced at them, took out two, and handed them to the servant.
The servant shuffled these two cards into the deck and dealt two more to Carrey.
If you are not happy with the first deal, you can change it, and it will be random.
After receiving the new cards, Carrey nodded in satisfaction.
And over at Karoso’s side, the four cards were not changed much.
"I want to bet extra on a round, five million. Do you dare?" Carrey suddenly said.
In theory, extra bets are usually decided before the game starts; bringing it up now seems a bit unfair, and most people would not accept it.
But Karoso was not like most people; he happily agreed, "Sure."
"Hey, you said you wouldn’t play for high stakes." Alita gave Karoso a light tap on the back of his head.
"It’s fine," Karoso smiled.
Soon, the two signed their names, and the bet was set.
This game was best out of three, which helps remove some luck from the equation.
"Pass!"
In the first round, Carrey did not play a card, probably because he did not have a one-star card.
"My turn, draw a card." Karoso stretched out his hand, and the card was already in his grasp.
Karoso quickly used a Mana Crystal, which is a Zero-star card, turning it into two Mana Crystals.
Then, Karoso played two cards.
[Name: Timberwolf]
[Type: Follower]
[Race: Beast]
[Star Level: 1]
[Grade: White Common]
[Job Restriction: Hunter]
[Description: Your other beast’s attack power increases by 1]
[Name: Male Tiger]
[Category: Companion]
[Race: Beast]
[Star Level: 1]
[Grade: White Common]
[Job Restriction: Hunter]
[Description: Summon a Female Tiger]
Suddenly, there were three cards on Karoso’s side: one Timberwolf and two Tigers, all with an attack and health of 1-1. They looked quite weak.
However, the Timberwolf could give a little boost to the Tigers’ attack.
Karoso had no Mana Crystals left. The minions he just summoned could not attack; they could only attack next turn, so Karoso’s turn ended.
"Is that all?" When it was Carrey’s turn, he chose not to summon anything but to use his special skill, Fireball, which directly destroyed Karoso’s Timberwolf.
For a moment, Karoso was left with only two creatures with an attack of 1.
When it was Karoso’s turn, he had two Mana Crystals this time.
He summoned another Timberwolf and another Tiger.
Karoso’s already small hand of cards suddenly became just one card.
"Attack," Karoso said.
The two tigers that were not dead collided right into Carrey’s face, causing him to lose four points of health.
Carrey looked at the five monsters on the field with Karoso, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
Damn it, I don’t have any spells right now. Should I take out one or summon a follower?
Carrey thought for a moment and decisively cast a spell to take down the Timberwolf again.
Four points of damage, he can handle that.
Unfortunately, I wasted a Mana Crystal…
It’s okay, next turn I can summon a four-star follower!
When it was Karoso’s turn, he immediately threw down a card.
[Name: Kill Command]
[Category: Spell]
[Star Level: 3]
[Grade: White Common]
[Occupational Restriction: Hunter]
[Description: Deals three points of damage, and five points of damage when you have a beast on the field]
Pffft!
Carrey’s life decreased by five points again. Adding the attack from four little tigers and the previous round, he had lost thirteen points of health!
Carrey then realized something was wrong; this Karoso’s attack speed was far too high! At this rate, will my eight-star big monster even come out?
